5/10 Metropocre is a trippy, and often confusing, 2D pixel shooter centered around Felix as he massacres people to acquire wings. My takeaway: The game was fun enough and is exactly as described by the creators. Throughout the whole game it is very easy to spot the amount of love the creators had poured into it. The storyline is entertaining and thought provoking and the absurdity adds to the odd aesthetic the game has. It plays pretty smooth and has no glitches as far as I could see. I'm very used to arcade styled games and it took me around an hour and a half to achieve all the achievements but the game can be completed in as little as 5 minutes if you're trying to speedrun through it. The timer function is actually very cool and the game mechanics try to be user friendly. The issue I have with this game is the lack of tutorial and the graphics being so weird that it's hard to play. At times as you won't know the difference between a weapon, bomb, and pill. I wish they had made it easier to play in that sense or cleaned up the triple vision effect that riddles the whole game. I understand the desired effect and look but for a player it makes things difficult purely for aesthetics. It is solely because of this issue it's rated so low but I loved the game itself and I found it unfair to downvote when it might just be a me issue. Pros

Technically voiced?
Artwork is interesting and fun to look at.
Creepy ambiance works here.
Game's humor is wonderful.
Lots of love can be seen in this title.
Simple gameplay.
Timer is a cool mechanic.
Multiple characters to choose from.
Challenging levels.
Gameplay related achievements and are achievable.
Cons

Graphics. The 'trippy' three vision effect made the game harder than it needed to be. Ended up giving it an unpolished feeling.
No real character development.
Hard to distinguish what you're looking at.
Adult humor gets summed up to shock value.
No tutorial or hints.

I understand the pills are supposed to lessen the triple vision effect but it really didn't make things any easier for me and often I didn't see the difference. There are tons of fun indie games on steam, this isn't one of them. Despite its low price this game is just not worth your time, play anything else.
METROPOCRE

MY EYES HURT!!!
When I thought games couldn’t make any more unique visuals, METROPOCRE walked in to prove me wrong. The visuals are surely unique, but it just makes everything harder. I’ll tell you why if you stay with me throughout this review! :) Fun Information: You won’t believe how long I’ve been trying to pronounce the game’s name. It’s so complicated. I chose to pronounce it as Metre+Poker. Hopefully, I am not wrong. :(
About This Game

Storyline
The storyline…Man, the game confused the ♥♥♥♥ out of me. I had no idea what was happening. There were some random dialogues here & there and some eerie characters. I understood the role of the Pigeon, dolphin & Danny. Apart from that, I understood nothing about the game’s plot. In order to comprehend the base of the game’s plot, I had to read the game’s store page’s description. Here’s what I understood from it:
Felix is a regular rabbit who is looking for a new pair of wings. To do so, he must endure a bloody and unusual experience in this anthropomorphic world.
There’s a very noticeable grammatical error in the game’s store description in this line: “Take the position of Felix, the rabbit, as he go through a serious of strange, psychodelic and hardcore adventures.”. There are a few mistakes in that sentence. If I were to rephrase it, it would be something like this: “Take on the role of Felix the rabbit as he goes through a series of strange, psychedelic & life-threatening adventures!”
Gameplay Mechanics
The game has very basic mechanics; movement, left click to shoot, right-click to pick up/throw weapons & space to drop bombs. It doesn’t sound very difficult, right? Well, it isn’t. The only thing that makes everything 100 times harder is the three-vision effects they use. It hurts my eyes & makes it harder to see. It’s so hard to distinguish between a few objects. Anyways, let’s stick to the gameplay aspect. Your goal is to defeat enemies on the current level to proceed to the next one. Simple enough. Different enemies have different weapons. Bombs are useful for taking out a lot of enemies that are tailing you. But once they come close to you, you have to rely on your guns. Once you run out of ammo, you’re ♥♥♥♥♥♥. There are 6 different characters that offer 6 different playstyles. For instance, one of them has infinite bombs while the other one can only use a UZI. This is a very important addition as it gives the game variety & increases its re-playability rate. The game has 27+ levels. It can take 1-1.5 hours to finish it if you play it normally. If you speedrun it, you can finish it in under 8 minutes. To help you with this, the game has a built-in speed run timer. You can disable it in the main menu if you have no use for it. All-in-all, I have no complaints about the gameplay aspect of the game. I’ve, surprisingly, not faced any bugs. The cut-scenes & transitions were pretty smooth. The visual part is what annoys me. Let’s jump there right now!
Visuals & Audio
Okay so, the developers tried to make unique visuals for the game using a three-vision filter on the game. It feels like I am stoned asf while playing the game. Although I am not photosensitive, the visuals hurt my eyes. The pills in the game are supposed to make the effect a bit milder, but it doesn’t matter. It still hurts my eyes. It’s hard to differentiate objects. The cut-scenes seem to have real pictures which have heavy filters applied to them. Kudos to the developers for coming up with something completely unique. They succeeded in giving the game a very eerie effect. But yeah, they should’ve taken the playability aspect of the game into account. If you reduced the effect by a bit, I am sure it would be better! The game has very weird voiceovers. I mean, at least it has something apart from the eerie soundtracks. There’s nothing unique in this part of the game apart from the creepy voiceovers. I have no complaints either.
Pros

A very interesting take on the game’s visuals that plays a pivotal role in the overall gameplay.
They nailed the eerie ambiance the game possesses.
Game has simplistic mechanics. This makes it easy to play.
6 different unique characters to play as. This offers a lot of replayability as each character offers a different playstyle.
Speedrun friendly with a timer.

Cons

The story makes no sense.
There are no tutorials or guides that tell you what to do.
The unique visuals of the game have actually hurt my eyes. They’re a bit too hard on your eyes. I hope they simmer down the intensity of filters they use.

Conclusion
It’s not a game I’d play again. The visuals are the main back draw of this game. If they fix that, it has a lot of potential. The game isn’t very expensive. Luckily enough, the game is kinda worth its price. Reviewer: Midplayz I love my eyes. I need em to stare at more Anime Girls. Rating: 6/10 (I have mixed feelings for this game. I don’t want to not recommend it due to the unique take it took.)
terrible hotline miami bootleg with a god awful distortion filter that doesn't go away. Doesn't even tell you the controls when you boot it.
Quite a fun game.. Worth it's price. Quite a challenge but definitely good fun. Play as Felix, J. Waffles or P. ♥♥♥♥ to reach the top!

Needs a lot of work, like a lot of work, when theres games around there that are a lot more polished and they are out there as simple freeware you know its a problem, while the game is comically cheap its also desgined quite cheaply, lots of gameplay desitions only make the gameplay more adquard such as dodging bullets, having to click directly on enemies for melee weapons to work, having to click directly on things to interact with them, the fact theres people you would expect you can talk to but they are just for decoration, some things just blend in in some levels i like the concept, psychodelic very ugly game and stuff, but the way its done just makes it pretty subpar even to games you can find online and thats what takes most benefit from it, for the game to be fun it would need a very big overhoul to how it even plays
I really liked the game, it's simple, and this simplicity makes the game feel fun and original. I would say it's completely worth giving it a try.
It's fun! Saw the dev's post on the Hotline Miami subreddit, looked interesting enough to take a look and sure enough, it's a fine game. I suck major ass though lol
