This game is very good but prepare to be annoyed when playing it. This is a proper rage game. Not because of the skill level required which is high but the punishments given out for a mistake. It looks and sounds great with that old school pixel art and while some say the controls are poor - I find them fine. I have cleared the game 3 times now and getting better times - but it's still very annoying because of the price of mistakes. THIS IS NOT A PINBALL GAME. It is a platformer with some light puzzling thrown in. But beware. No checkpoints. Only one save file. If you aren't the type to stick 20 hours or so into this to get your 1st clear which may involve being sent back almost to the start sometimes then beware.

I like pinball, I like this game

I love this game, even though the physics aren’t like an actual pinball game. It’s more of a pinball-themed adventure experience, one that can make you rage like a Bennett Foddy game. Although it’s not really what I wanted or expected it to be. I almost refunded it, but decided to keep playing after noticing how long I had been smiling while playing. It plays best with a controller, imo, and is a perfect low-power Steam Deck game. It feels like a game you could hand to a child, grandparent, partner, just about anyone, and they’d be able to play it without assistance. I still wish the physics were more accurate to irl pinball, but that doesn’t mean FlippUp doesn’t deserve its place in the genre. It definitely deserves more attention. Give it a chance, or at least try out the demo. Having fewer than 100 reviews at the time of writing is crazy to me.

pinball flavored precision platformer pretty good

Been playing this via GameNative on my Retroid Flip 2. Great game! I didn't like the physics at first, but I took a break and gave it another try, and now I get it. It's not quite like other pinball games; the ball has a bit more weight to it, and you have to get a good feel of how the flippers work. It's a challenging game, with great atmosphere, tight controls, and an addictive premise. If you are getting frustrated, just take a break and try again later.

Flippup is an amazing *punishing* puzzle platformer with a pinball theme. (Mike Trapp, make me a keyboard that's all P's). It's a 2D climb with real progress to lose. (But, you get back so much faster... except for that area between Fall City and the training. That area sucks.) It's absolutely not a pinball game, and I truly don't believe the devs had ANY intent to make a pinball game with perfect pinball physics. It's crunchy. If you've liked getting over it style games and you actually appreciate a pinball theme, I recommend! Edit: The game is now complete. Download the demo and see if it's your speed. It was worth playing. A+

A friend gifted this to me because I biult a pinball cabinet to play pinball games on (It does not work in protrait mode, and I told my friend it probably would not, most games do not support portrait mode and I never expected this to do that. BUT it really should, Portrait mode is how a pinball style game SHOULD function) This thankfully is not called pinball because nothing about the way it plays resembles pinball The flippers GO HIGH and FAR on the middle of the flipper, wait till its near the end where you expect it to have the most velocity and it flops like a dead cat Make one mistake and you'll go all the way back to the start I don't find this fun or engaging in any way

This game immediately feels awful. They don't appear to be trying to emulate pinball machine physics at all. I wished I could see more of the game but I can't make progress. It's a great idea for a game but fails.
