What a trip to the Rockies this was, and what a summer experience you will never forget. From the breath-taking art style to the fantastic music that accompanies you on this gaming experience, the story that amplifies an already great message to the characters you will grow to adore during this short yet impactful story. When it comes to walking simulator games, this game is the pinnacle and best experience for these games. The score I am giving FIREWATCH is a 10/10 , a flawless experience and a deep story that has you engaged from the start. What a damn fun time. I strongly recommend this game to everyone, as it is truly a masterpiece. Pick this game up and play it now. (I did post my full/shortened thoughts on this game as a whole as a guide, which I recommend all to read, as I go in-depth as to why I feel the way I do about this title.)
Firewatch is an absolute masterpiece of narrative-driven gaming, expertly capturing how a serene, peaceful escape can suddenly curdle into a horrid sense of paranoia and dread, reinforced by standout scores across the board: a 9/10 for Story thanks to its heartbreakingly human narrative about running from grief, a 9/10 for Atmosphere through its masterclass in sound design and visual tension that makes you feel constantly watched and walking on edge, an 8/10 for Audio/Voice Acting for the incredible chemistry between Henry and Delilah over the radio, and a 6/10 for Freedom since the exploration is largely linear and guided rather than a sprawling open-world sandbox. You step into the boots of Henry, taking a lookout job in the vast wilderness with your only lifeline being a radio and Delilah across the valley, balancing the heartwarming intimacy of building an authentic connection with a creeping dread where the quiet beauty of nature twists into a suffocating nightmare, proving that the most terrifying things aren't just the secrets we run from, but the unseen presence waiting in the woods with us.
Wow! I was expecting a simple emotional story with beautiful scenery but there was so much more! The mystery elements and voice acting were incredible, with some genuine tense moments that literally had me on the edge of my seat. Its a bit pricey for the length but I would say it was worth it. 10/10
