Twenty-Five years later. Final Fantasy X still holds up as a great game. There's some jank here and there with the graphics and audio, but that's all part of the charm of the past. There's a lot of nostalgia in my mind, but the gameplay loop is tight. The characters and story beats are interesting, and ultimately I have very little to complain about. The music remains legendary and the graphic design is quintessential late 90s and so very Final Fantasy. My only sentiment for the game is really: just enjoy the base game. I started the process for the End Game, and ended up eventually just giving up, it was just too tedious a process. Which is a shame, but the base game is more than enough to justify the purchase. (I didn't have much of an interest in X-2, and never really did even in the past. So I didn't review it for this.)
Star player of the Zanarkand Abes!
esta bueno compralo
FFX is probably the last "old school" FF game from the franchise. The leap from PS1 graphics to PS2 has been done masterfully with FF-X. Square enix also added lots of pre rendered cutscenes inside the game that bump up the immersion. The artstyle and the music are great as well(personally I find the original score to be better than the remixed one), and paint a beautiful picture of Spira. Its turn based system encourages you to use every character from your party which is great, because it not only adds variety to battles, but it also allows you to know the protagonists better. The level up system is unique and it works; now every character has a chart, and after a battle is over they get move points to move, and skill points to unlock attributes. There is also weapon customization too. Here, you can summon powerful monsters to fight for you. Their existence allows for some tactics to take place on the battlefield. Just like every FF game, the story here is grand as well, Thankfully, the plot keeps it simple with an emphasis on the well written protagonists. There are few characters that you will meet in the game, but almost all of them are memorable. I also like how the game encourages you to talk to npcs, because besides just listening to them, most of them will offer you helpful items. When it comes to mini games and extra stuff, FF-X has enough content to keep you busy. Its signature mini game is called Blitzball; its an underwater minigame that resembles rugby. It looked interesting, but just like FF X's other smaller scale minigames, I found it too janky to care enough about it. There is a stadium where you can fight the monsters that you caught during your travels, there are dark aeons as a hardcore challenge, and finally there is a theatre where you can re watch pre rendered cut scenes and hear the game's OST. If you are going to spend time doing the extra stuff, a wise advice would be to start doing them during the game's end game where you unlock fast travel. You will waste less time with backtracking once you get the fast travel option. Finally, just like every other game, FF X does require some grinding in its end game. Its not bad though, and this pc version also offers a set of gameplay tools and cheats to aid you. I havent played FF-X2 from this package because I didnt like its pseudo turnbased combat and the weird direction this sequel takes the story and characters, but thats just my subjective opinion. I encourage people to at least try everything this package has to offer besides FF-X. Finally, this is the superior version of FFX-FFX2. If you are a ps2 purist, you can mod the game to look like the ps2 version, while also enjoying the benefits of it being a modern pc port. FF-X is a must play if you are a modern or an old FF fan, and if you are new to the series you cant go wrong with this package, especially when its on sale. 9.4/10
Uno de los mejores FF que he jugado, no se cuantas veces lo he completado y me sigue divirtiendo.
Bought this game twice, refunded once due to Green Screen Bug and crashes.. This time followed some recommendations and downloaded SpecialK .. Everything worked great except for one crash.
just get the PS2 version if you can. This version of the game is unstable.
"Listen to my story. This may be our last chance." Those words have stayed with me ever since I was a kid. I first experienced Final Fantasy X during my childhood. Back then, I was too young to fully understand everything that was happening. I didn't understand the themes, the symbolism, or the emotions hidden behind the journey. I just knew one thing: I loved this game. Years later, I came back to it through this HD Remaster. Older. Hopefully wiser. And somehow... This game hit even harder than it did when I was a child. I finally understood why so many people call Final Fantasy X one of the greatest JRPGs ever made. The world of Spira feels alive. The music is timeless. The turn-based combat still holds up beautifully, the Sphere Grid remains incredibly satisfying, and every party member has a purpose. Even after more than two decades, it never feels outdated to me. But gameplay was never the reason this game became my favorite. It was the story. A story about hope. About accepting painful truths. About sacrifice. About love. About learning to smile even when your heart is breaking. I've played countless JRPGs since then. Some have better graphics. Some have larger worlds. Some have more complex combat systems. Yet every single time I finish another JRPG, I always end up asking myself the same question: "Was it better than Final Fantasy X?" The answer has never changed. No. Because no game has ever made me feel the way Final Fantasy X did. Then there's Final Fantasy X-2. I know it's a divisive sequel, but I genuinely love it. After everything that happened in Final Fantasy X, seeing Spira move forward felt meaningful. Its lighter tone never erased the emotional weight of the first game—it complemented it. And the Dressphere system is still one of my favorite job systems in the entire Final Fantasy franchise. Is this remaster perfect? Not really. Some animations have aged, there are small technical issues, and newer games have certainly surpassed it in terms of visuals. None of that matters to me. Because every time I hear To Zanarkand, every time I revisit Spira, it feels like I'm meeting old friends again. This isn't just my favorite Final Fantasy. This isn't just my favorite JRPG. This is my favorite game of all time. 1000/10
