It's weird, I played Final Fantasy 7 when it first came out. It was actually my first Playstation game. And even though the remake is very different, it still really feel like playing the original. I don't know quite how to describe it, but I think those who had similar experiences with the game growing up might know what I'm saying. Or trying to. I've really been enjoying my time playing it, even though Sony has become incredibly anti consumer through censorship, deactivating purchases (which is just theft in my eyes.), and their idiotic decision to end physical media.
FF7 remake is such an amazing game to dive into and just play play play! i reccomend this game to any final fantasy games is a must play!

The base game sets the bar truly, for what a remake of a storied, beloved franchise is. The DLC expands on the backstory of a fan-favorite character and introduces some great additions to the combat system. If you're a fan of FF7, in any capacity, this game and the DLC are required playing. --- PROS; - Absolutely stunning. One of the most gorgeous videogames I've ever played. It was true when I played the original release on PS4, and it's true now with the complete PC version of the game. Even more so. Gorgeous. - Some of the best musical score ever written from Nobuo Uematsu. All of the classic themes are here, but remixed in such a way that while they retain their origins, also sound completely new at the same time. Stellar. - Expansive take on the first portion of the original FF7 (first disc.) - Good writing and voice acting. Really makes the characters come alive. - Good controls, UI. - The combat in the DLC is VERY fun and a step up from what was introduced in the base game. Yuffie and Sonan synergizing make for a markedly more interesting and complex combat system. - PC Optimization is spot-on. Game runs incredibly on modern hardware. Max quality, 120FPS at all times baring some very effects heavy fights in the DLC's last encounter. Not a single crash it my entire time playing, or game-altering/breaking bugs. CONS; - Enemies in general are too sponge-y and have too much HP, esp. on hard. - Enemies can spam way too many status effects, many of which render loss of your character. - Side quests are tedious and boring. - I can't get snu-snu'd by Scarlet. INDIFFERENT; - The combat loop in this game is a more refined version of what was introduced in Crisis Core. MMV. - The new story elements that shake up the storyline from the original game are hit/miss. MMV. - Minigames are hit/miss. MMV. All in all, the foundation this game laid for itself and the subsequent 2 games to follow (Rebirth and Revelations) have yet to be matched by any one other game in the industry where a complete remake is concerned. It's a masterpiece. Required playing. Even with it's flaws. 10/10
