Took a few hours to figure out how things work, but once you do the game is awesome.
Deep turn based strategy game, the market needs more of these types of games.
entspanntes Spiel auf der einen Seite, Herausforderungen auf der anderen Seite
CK2 and CK3 never worked for me, even if I own and like all Paradox games, but I was pleasantly surprised by FOG Kingdoms ! it's probably because it feels a lot more like an actual game more than a crazy story generator. The one more turn feeling is very strong with this one :) the focus on buildings in the regions rather on the characters is what really set these 2 approches apart, and I very much prefer FOG's take. Great atmosphere (medieval style illustration and music are done right) and decisions that feel meaningful. I enjoy exporting some key battles to the tactical companion game, FOG II Medieval, because there tactical battles get a lot more meaningfull when you're trying to preserve your experienced units that took so long to level up, but the ingame resolution works just fine, it definitively rewards a very balanced approach to army composition. Great work Ageod !
I've been enjoying the game a lot - it feels a lot like a turn-base Europa Universalis, only with differences and alterations, and I generally find those changes to be for the better and make for a more enjoyable experience overall. The devs are active and helpful as well - I had a question on the steam forum and one of them answered fairly quickly with info that probably can't be found anywhere else. If you're at all on the fence and enjoy these styles of games, I highly recommend this game.
Field of Glory is a fun game.
This has quickly become one of my favorite grand strategy games. I got bored with the map-painting games and got into Field of Glory: Empires, another excellent game by AGEOD. I was delighted to discover that they have a medieval game too. I've played a lot of Crusader Kings II, not as much Crusader Kings III, and compared to those, this game is much lighter on the personal dynamics, but much heavier on combat and trade. There is a lot to do to run the kingdom, though the Peers of the Realm mechanic can delegate those duties to an extent. One complaint that I have is that large empires like the Byzantine Empire can still be overwhelming. Also, I love playing the Field of Glory II Medieval game by Byzantine Games, and the fact that one has the option of resolving combat by exporting to that separate game is a bonus.
Horse balls: Hell yeah Goat balls: Hell no Another case of brutal censorship
Decent continuation of a good franchise. It's a little laborious at times, but good fun.
