The world where humanity is almost gone. A few remaining people search for each other amongst monsters, common inhabitants of the Earth. However, this story is about a child who is going to obtain something very important. Fariwalk: The Prelude is a short prologue to The Fariwalk game.

Fariwalk: The Prelude is a short, interesting game. Players will explore a small gloomy and atmospheric yard and outer area, while meeting and talking with uniquely designed inhabitants that offer small quests to complete. These quests vary from small puzzles, finding items, and/or mini-games which are enjoyable. There should be about 1-2 hours’ worth of content here which for the cheap price can’t be complained at. Unfortunately, the game has technical issues that will ruin the initial experience and break immersion. There are issues with potential crashing when moving between the yard and outer area. There are issues with the load/save system that causes the file to corrupt meaning progress would be lost. It would be recommended to try and beat the game in one sitting and consult a walkthrough for achievements (if stuck). Overall, mixed feelings, but slightly leaning towards positive. Key strengths in its audio-visual design and small gameplay loop. Key weaknesses with its technical issues; crashing and unreliable load/save system. If the technical issues can be overlooked and a walkthrough is followed, for the price and 1-2 hours of content, it could be recommended. Verdict: 5 / 10
overall alright for in between.

Fariwalk: The Prelude, developed by AIHASTO and published by Volens Nolens Games, is a brief but evocative indie adventure that introduces players to a somber and mysterious post-apocalyptic world. Released in late 2017, the game functions as a prologue to the broader Fariwalk universe, providing a glimpse into a desolate landscape where humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. Within this setting, players navigate a world filled with remnants of civilization, lurking monsters, and a handful of surviving humans, all while experiencing a story that blends melancholy, curiosity, and subtle tension. The gameplay in Fariwalk: The Prelude revolves around exploration and discovery. Players assume the role of a child on a personal quest, interacting with the environment, solving simple puzzles, and engaging with the few remaining inhabitants of the world. The game encourages a slow, contemplative pace, rewarding players who take the time to explore hidden areas and observe the small details that populate the landscape. While there are quests and tasks to complete, the game emphasizes atmosphere and narrative over traditional gameplay challenges, creating an experience more akin to an interactive story than a conventional adventure game. Visually, the game stands out for its distinctive art style and careful attention to environmental detail. The decaying architecture, overgrown landscapes, and muted color palette combine to evoke a sense of isolation and unease, immersing players in a world that feels both beautiful and unsettling. Complementing the visuals is a haunting soundtrack that accentuates the game’s somber tone and enhances the emotional impact of exploration. Subtle audio cues and ambient sounds further deepen the immersion, making the player feel as though they are traversing a living, albeit dying, world. Despite its strengths, Fariwalk: The Prelude is not without its flaws. Some players have reported technical issues such as occasional crashes and glitches, which can disrupt the flow of gameplay. Additionally, the story is intentionally minimalistic, with much left to interpretation, which may leave some players feeling that the narrative lacks depth or resolution. However, these limitations also contribute to the game’s mysterious and open-ended atmosphere, encouraging players to reflect on the world and its sparse storytelling rather than relying on conventional plot development. Replayability in Fariwalk: The Prelude is modest but present. Exploration often uncovers hidden dialogue, side interactions, and environmental storytelling that rewards multiple playthroughs. Though the game is short, the layers of detail in both its environments and its narrative provide a richer experience for those willing to take the time to fully engage with its world. In conclusion, Fariwalk: The Prelude delivers a concise yet memorable journey into a post-apocalyptic universe marked by mystery, melancholy, and subtle beauty. Its emphasis on exploration, atmospheric storytelling, and immersive visuals make it a compelling experience for fans of narrative-driven indie games. While technical shortcomings and a minimalist narrative may challenge some players, the game’s unique style and evocative world leave a lasting impression, making it a worthwhile introduction to the Fariwalk series. Rating: 6/10

Absolutely NO! Unacceptable! This is an very bugy mess, the states of it is miserable. The constant crashes, constant corrupt files & as others point out loop crash, making you unable to lunch the game. If the game crashes you lose all your items in your inventory. The ones you got by completing the quests. Does this mean you need to redo the quests to get the items once more? NO! You need to restart the hole game again! There is no run option or just go faster, no you have to slowly get your way back & forth. Proving once again how lame the developer AIHASTO is. No option to skip dialogues. NPC's walk even slower than you, forcing you to wait in almost all quests. You want to change a SIMPLE setting like the sound/resolution? Oh you need to exit the game & go back to the main menu. What's that? You will lose your walking progress! I lost count of how many times I had to restart the hole game to finish it to 100% This game is AIHASTO (developer) pissing on you and telling you his pissrain service is ''worth'' 11.-$
