About
Fairtravel Battle is a fast-paced collectible card game (CCG) with a unique resource system, back-and-forth battles, and game modes for all preferences.
Play with friends or by yourself, without the need to empty your wallet buying card packs or keeping up with a meta.
In Fairtravel Battle, your resources are everything! In this essence-mana system, any card can be placed on the bottom of your deck to gain an essence of your choice among Fervor (
), Life (
), Aegis (
), and Gloom (
), leveling up your ability to play cards, while also granting you mana (
), which lets you play those cards.
The best part? Any card allows you to pick any essence of your choice, so you don't have to lose the cards that matter the most to you! And there are no essence cards, instead every card is usable as a resource!
Got enough mana but need that perfect card? You can always redraw a card by returning a card to the bottom of your deck and drawing a new card instead.
Make your magic run wild with your own custom crafted decks and find cool new ways to make cards interact together.
Battles in Fairtravel Battle aren't going to be one-sided if you play your cards right. With plenty of ways to counter your opponent and with little interruptions, battles are fast and engaging, and with the Explore mechanic, which lets you find a card among the next 5 cards in your deck, you have many more chances to find the cards you need to beat your opponent.
Bring your own decks to battle your friends or bots with up to 3 other players, or team up together and face an even bigger challenge!
Every turn you select among 5 new cards to add to your deck. You never know what you'll get!
Team up with two other champions to defeat the Chaos Keeper in this 3 vs 1 battle! Or Play as the Chaos Keeper and turn things around! Can you beat the champions?
Build a deck by picking cards among booster packs and win as many times as you can to earn fabulous loot!
Open booster packs and find the perfect cards among them to build the perfect 40-card deck and beat the competition!
Play each mode online, offline with bots, host your own local matches, or use Steam lobbies. Fairtravel Battle isn't dependent on hosted servers so it will always be playable offline or online through self hosted lobbies or Steam lobbies.
Create your own custom game modes with your own rules right within the game. Add your own new cards, cosmetics, and card sets through the mod system!
Nobody likes paying a lot of money to enjoy collectible card games or being left behind after taking a break! Fairtravel Battle features no microtransactions for card packs. Any future microtransactions will be exclusively new cosmetic DLC, all future card sets will be free!

My only experience in card games is basically YuGiOh. So I sorta expect myself to struggle learning a new card game, surprised to say, it took me less than 1h to get the gist of it. I could see myself introducing this to a few friends and see how far the current card pool can take us. There's massive room for improvements, but the important part is the card game itself which functions well.
This is a fun, intuitive & surprisingly nuanced deck builder that actually lets you amass a hefty collection of cards without microtransactions or too heavy a grind. On the surface, it's a bit like MTG crossed with Hearthstone, but with just a bit of time it reveals its own unique flow to strike a perfect balance of relaxing & engaging. There's a multitude of modes, a healthy set of cards, a satisfying stream of rewards/customisation &, maybe most exciting, NPCs can (optionally) use decks you create, so there's plenty of ways to craft your own challenge & try to outdo your own decks. It's early access, but for this price I'd still love the game as a complete product even as is!

Gameplay is similar to card games like Hearthstone, though it has a unique mana ramping mechanic for a bit of spice. As of now there are some power outliers in the card pool on both the weaker and stronger side, with power mostly leaning in the 3 mana cards. If you want to be able to play with other people, most of the time it's necessary to go to the game's Discord and ping LFG, and solo content is pretty shallow besides that. There is confirmation of a larger solo mode coming out in the (near?) future however. The game has some nice looking art, the majority being done by The Pixel Buster, though the menus could use a bit more polish. Card collection is very quick in this game, and very notably, the game has no playable content behind any paywalls, so once the game is purchased, you can very easily get a full collection within a short amount of time. The ease of collection also applies to the cosmetics in the game, which can maybe be seen as a downside if you like having a goal to work towards, since there isn't much to do once maxed out besides online play, which can be a bit unreliable, though this is a complete non-issue if you don't care for having a grind to work on. Overall, would say the game is pretty fun right now, though could have some room to grow.
Good game You pay for game and you get all the game Game includes lots of game types I don't much care for PvP card games, but I enjoy the deckbuilder and raid modes
Fairtravel Battle fits in a solid place in the CCG niche right now. It plays like a middle ground between MTG and Hearthstone, while handling some of the age old issues people have had with their rules. First and foremost: THERE'S NO MICROTRANSACTIONS, BATTLE PASSES, ETC, and NO AI USED. (There is placeholder artwork, but also non-AI) Second: FTB is also DRM-free, even through Steam. One thing that MTG players may appreciate is how energy gain is handled. Instead of having to build with lands in your deck, Lands don't exist. To gain energy each turn, you can send any one card in your hand to the bottom of your deck to select 1 of the 4 elements to permanently increase and increase your energy cap by 1. So, all cards can be used to gain energy, meaning that drawing your high cost cards isn't terrible early game, as they still have a use! One of my favorite things so far is that there's already modes in FTB that are either brand new or haven't been playable digitally in ages. It also supports up to 4 players in all modes (including Teams)! Added note here: The cards are designed in a way that supports teams naturally ('Friendly characters' affects the whole team, and 'opposing' can affect anyone not on your team) Raid mode - 3v1 mode with the 1 using a Raid Boss deck and passives, similar to the idea of Archenemy from MTG, but with the added change of the Boss player having 3 phases that have progressively stronger passive bonuses. Draft mode - There's both Sealed and standard draft (pick one and pass). These can also be done in up to 4 player pods (AI and/or people). Drafted cards aren't added to your collection, but you get packs and currency as rewards. (So no need to rare pull for the sake of) Explore mode - This is an interesting one. Everyone starts with 5 Growth cards in their deck (0 cost, play to gain 1 energy), and each turn, you pick a card to add to your deck for the rest of the game. Cards that go to your Discard stay there, while your hand is reshuffled into your deck instead of being discarded. There's also the option to create Custom Modes! :D I haven't messed with this yet, but there's a ton of settings you can modify (no tooltips at the moment, but that feedback's already been given to the dev!). There is also Mod support for custom cards, sleeves, mats, etc, and a Mod Manager built in. Haven't messed with this much, but there's a guide and such on the FTB Discord. Overall, I highly recommend this so far. The dev is planning to continue supporting the game and adding more content over time, including more cards/packs.
I did get my key for free when the dev(s?) were working on it originally so I could help playtest, which I barely did and forgot to do with my ADHD and the devs let me keep the game, so that's awesome of them. I am sure some balancing in card changes and adding in more cards would be appreciated, but this is quite fun to play. No MTX or paying to get more cards just simply playing I got most of the cards already. I will say I do not understand the Explorer mode as it seems to never end? It's almost like drafting but you play with the cards which is cool but the opponent doesn't do anything and they don't have life either? It would be a lot more fun if you also fought with the deck as you drafted. Sometimes it does seem to be crazy hard to comeback so I think more cards would allow for better built decks as some synergies seem lacking so hopefully more sets will come soon. I haven't figured out the mod system, but I work love to make some cards for this purpose and the game has a lot of potential if it gets traction.
I've only played a handful of card battler games (MTG and Hearthstone primarily) so in the realm of that, I'm basically a casual. For the life of me I couldn't tell you whether this game is balanced or not. So here's what I can tell you about this game: It works. By which I mean it is a fully working game without requiring you to register at a separate service, without even having an internet connection (I assume, I didn't test that), and without having to get your wallet out a second time after purchasing. Which is fantastic. I personally like it when games don't require me to spend more than their price tag on them, and aren't tied to some servers staying online. There's also a demo which allows you to play as much as you like (albeit without getting any card packs, so you're tied to the cards you start with, which isn't too bad IMHO). Anyway, all of that is just me being happy about a game being what should be considered the norm, so back to what it actually does. The artwork and music are pretty, and you can even find attribution for it, meaning you can not just see the art, but also find out who made it and commission them to make more, if you're inclined to do that (which is refreshing to see, thanks). You can go through the tutorial and it'll tell you everything you need to know, and the mechanics are interesting and different enough from most other games I've played to feel like a different game, but also simple enough to grasp quickly. Cards and effects are explained in-game and all that, so you don't need a guide to play the game either. There are a variety of game modes, all built for either playing against the computer or actual players. The store page has a description of all of those, so I'll just highlight a few of my favorites. There are several drafting options, including a very simplified "choose one out of three cards until your deck is full", which probably sounds familiar to anyone who's played Slay the Spire. This is great because I am patently awful at actually building decks, so just grabbing a deck like that and running with it for a few rounds is nice. Alternatively the Explore mode allows you to choose a new card every round, so it pushes all of the deck building into the game, allowing you to pick the cards you need when you need them. Honestly, I'm just fascinated that a card battler managed to give me the ability to just get started and play without having to build a deck (or use a premade deck, I kinda don't like that), and it feels nice. With this having workshop integration I can see this being more than just a comfy game for a group of friends to play together. Getting cards is also pretty easy, both via getting the card packs, but also just getting the specific card you want directly via in-game currency you get boatloads of. Personally I'm not really going to do that because it takes some of the card collection fun away, but it's a nice thing to have if you want to build a deck and really need that one card; just go and get it for a negligible amount of currency. There's also deck sharing support, by which I mean the game will copy the deck representation to your clipboard (both as base64, but also a human readable comment) so it's easy to share decks with friends via whatever you use to send messages to your friends. Now with that out of the way, let's talk about the downsides of an indie card battler in 2026. To absolutely nobody's surprise (I hope at least) the market saturation for video games hits hard, meaning the player numbers on SteamDB have listed less than a dozen people online in the past week or so. Please don't misunderstand; those are concurrent players, which means there's at least one person online at all times, though the numbers have gone down since release. This means you cannot simply hop onto matchmaking and have a great time, at the very least since games are spread across several game modes and with games lasting a few minutes it's just unlikely you'll happen to stumble across another player unless you're willing to wait for what might be quite a while. One of the reasons I haven't got the slightest idea whether the cards are balanced is also rooted in this. Since I haven't gotten to play against some randos who will either be on-par with my crappy deck, or will absolutely crush me within 5 turns, I can't speak to any of that. So my closing words are that this is a good looking game, I enjoyed playing it against the computer, and I'll shove the demo into some of my friends' faces, since they can just download the demo and play a premade deck against my crappy hackjob of a deck. Or just play against those friends in Explorer mode or something while sitting on VC. I dunno what to say really, it's just a comfy card battler with no big flaws to speak of, just go and play the free demo if you're unsure about it. My regards to everyone playing or working on the game, and I hope this'll make it out of early access eventually and find a loyal community to stick around <3
I've been following the development of this game for a while now, and I really enjoy it! I love having a online TCG I can reasonably play without excessive grinding. NO MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!! Definitely recommend!
