About
Fairtravel Battle is a fast-paced collectible card game (CCG) with a unique resource system, back-and-forth battles, and game modes for all preferences.
Play with friends or by yourself, without the need to empty your wallet buying card packs or keeping up with a meta.
In Fairtravel Battle, your resources are everything! In this essence-mana system, any card can be placed on the bottom of your deck to gain an essence of your choice among Fervor (
), Life (
), Aegis (
), and Gloom (
), leveling up your ability to play cards, while also granting you mana (
), which lets you play those cards.
The best part? Any card allows you to pick any essence of your choice, so you don't have to lose the cards that matter the most to you! And there are no essence cards, instead every card is usable as a resource!
Got enough mana but need that perfect card? You can always redraw a card by returning a card to the bottom of your deck and drawing a new card instead.
Make your magic run wild with your own custom crafted decks and find cool new ways to make cards interact together.
Battles in Fairtravel Battle aren't going to be one-sided if you play your cards right. With plenty of ways to counter your opponent and with little interruptions, battles are fast and engaging, and with the Explore mechanic, which lets you find a card among the next 5 cards in your deck, you have many more chances to find the cards you need to beat your opponent.
Bring your own decks to battle your friends or bots with up to 3 other players, or team up together and face an even bigger challenge!
Every turn you select among 5 new cards to add to your deck. You never know what you'll get!
Team up with two other champions to defeat the Chaos Keeper in this 3 vs 1 battle! Or Play as the Chaos Keeper and turn things around! Can you beat the champions?
Build a deck by picking cards among booster packs and win as many times as you can to earn fabulous loot!
Open booster packs and find the perfect cards among them to build the perfect 40-card deck and beat the competition!
Play each mode online, offline with bots, host your own local matches, or use Steam lobbies. Fairtravel Battle isn't dependent on hosted servers so it will always be playable offline or online through self hosted lobbies or Steam lobbies.
Create your own custom game modes with your own rules right within the game. Add your own new cards, cosmetics, and card sets through the mod system!
Nobody likes paying a lot of money to enjoy collectible card games or being left behind after taking a break! Fairtravel Battle features no microtransactions for card packs. Any future microtransactions will be exclusively new cosmetic DLC, all future card sets will be free!

DISCLAIMER: I know the developer personally so I may be biased in my review. So when reading this - do take it with a grain of salt, as I wish the Dev the best of success with this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've played a fair bit more of this game on the development build - and now that it is out, I can actually write a review. Fairtravel Battle plays a bit like a mix between Hearthstone and Magic the Gathering. It takes a short moment to get used to it, but it's not that complex. One of the main selling points is obviously the fact you don't need to spend an absolute fortune on getting the cards. As you play, you get currency at a speed that just lets you get card packs at a very good pace (it's not slow, so you often get more packs, but also not overwhelming where you get a gigantic collection and now how to check what in the world is happening). The game is pretty indie in its state - the menu buttons could use a bit more polish (having them react and slightly pop out or change color would be nice, to show they are buttons...) and the menus could use a little bit more work. That said - the gameplay is pretty good for a Card Game. The cards aren't as uniquely animated as Hearthstone's, but they are voiced and speak and react when you use them or attack with them. So there is some nice feedback to it. There are several gameplay modes and multiplayer allows you to challenge your friends (who let's be honest, just need to pay a few dollars to enjoy the ENTIRETY of the cards, instead of building up a deck via thousands upon thousands of dollars or spending years on free packs...). There is some room for improvement here - but seeing how this game was made literally by a single guy (who had to work in the meantime to fund the development of the game) is quite impressive - and the package is worth the asking price if you'd ask me. I am biased however, so I guess do try the game out for yourselves.

TL;DR If you're a fan of casual CCGs and looking for a fun, laidback time sink, this game is great and worth the price. Gameplay feels like a good mix of Magic, Hearthstone, and Lorcana. More detailed review below — Pros - - Great formula for card acquisition, deckbuilding, and crafting. - No microtransactions or ai slop - Multiple fun game modes including options for 1v1 and multiplayer, plus Draft and Sealed - Several matchmaking options for online play as well as CPU opponents - Passionate and responsive solo dev Cons - - Currently, there is no ranked play. Dev has confirmed something of the sort will be added in the future, but a CCG without a ranking system, leaderboard, or ladder to climb is missing a HUGE demographic. Focusing on the casual playerbase is totally fine, but chasing a higher rank is what gives competitive players a reason to keep logging in. Fingers crossed this will become a priority sooner rather than later. - The artwork doesn't feel cohesive. I'd say the majority of the cards look good and are stylized well, but some (as well as most of the avatars) are visually unappealing. Huge respect for not using AI, but I'll be looking forward to a visual overhaul at some point to get everything on the same page. Overall rating 7/10, would increase that to an 8.5/10 if it had ranked.
The anti-live-service TCG we actually needed. If you are tired of the endless monetization and aggressive battle passes of Hearthstone, Magic, or Yu-Gi-Oh, Fairtravel Battle is a breath of fresh air. It truly respects your time. Because there are no predatory microtransactions or randomized card packs to buy, your progress comes entirely from playing the game and deckbuilding at your own pace. The unique resource system completely eliminates getting mana-screwed, meaning matches are decided by actual back-and-forth strategy rather than luck. It features great offline support, online multiplayer lobbies, and even 3v1 chaos raids. If you want a deep, accessible card game that you actually own instead of rent, buy this now. The best part is that it is DRM free!
so far so good, the choices are very interesting and the design is refreshing. No micro transactions/AI and good diversity of card archetypes and game modes. its cheap and theres a demo, definetly check it out.
Extremely promising little CCG! Some of the UI could use some work and we need a lot more cards, but that's what Early Access is for! I feel like it's still well worth the cost in its current state though.
I like this game a lot! Found the demo a few days before the game released, and I was hooked, even if I never got to play against any other people. My one (very small) gripe from a design perspective is that it's incredibly easy to splash an extra color/essence into your deck to get access to extra removal or tech cards - most of them only need 1 of their respective type of essence, so you can take just one turn off from gathering your main essences to get the one for your tech cards (or just do it once you have enough of everything else) and lose basically nothing in the process, especially if you're playing a slower control type of gameplan. That being said, WOW is this game fun! You can make a bunch of different kinds of decks, from aggressive decks that try to win as quick as possible, to decks that try to grind the game to a halt and mill their opponent to death. I haven't tried to make all kinds of decks, and even if I did, I'm not the best at making all those kinds of decks so it probably wouldn't be an accurate representation of their power. But, none of them really seem egregiously overpowered compared to the others, based on what I've been able to test so far, so the game feels relatively balanced. Two other pros to mention - first, like the game advertises, there's no microtransactions in the title. All you can buy with real money, after paying the asking price of $15, is a supporter pack which unlocks a whole two alternate artworks for your cards. You don't need this to play the game, but if you want to support the dev some more, it's there. Second, the game doesn't have to connect to a server. You can play this game offline, or even with friends over LAN, so if this game ever reaches its end of life, you can still play it alone or with others! That's awesome, especially in a day and age where so many games are ephemeral by their very nature, so props to the dev for that.
What can I say? It's awesome, and so long as the devs don't get lazy this could be one of the best card games ever. There are tons of people who play Hearthstone/Magic/Yugioh who are absolutely sick of the gacha mechanics (I definitely am). Getting cards is a lot more common just because there's no microtransactions. You don't feel like the game is giving you the bare minimum to keep you playing, and there isn't any scummy design like Marvel Snap. It's also quite polished for an indie game. The downsides are a bare-bones tutorial, a clunky interface and a small pool of cards: nothing that can't be fixed in early access. The demo is pretty generous and progression carries over to the full game, so check it out if you're thinking of buying. My big request is for more structured CPU play. I haven't played any online matches yet but unless this game gets really popular (which could happen with better marketing), it's the offline mode that will keep people interested. The devs could implement a ladder similar to Hearthstone where the CPU decks get more difficult as you rank up. Currently the computer only plays with the decks you assign to it (or so I think: dev, correct me if I'm wrong). This is one of the few early access titles that's worth buying on day one. If you're interested in TCGs, you need to try it out.
One of the best digital card games I've played, despite some janky menus. The UI and UX is definitely rough around the edges, and the cardpool is a bit limited (but still deep enough to make tons of interesting strategies work), but everything else about this game is fantastic. First of all, having the game be microtransaction free (besides some cosmetics) is a refreshing take on a business model for a collectible card game. I've loved card games all of my life, but you always have the feeling they're trying to extract as much money as they can from you. This one doesn't. Earning cards is easy enough that I wouldn't even want to pay money for it, even if I could, while remaining difficult enough to feel satisfying and rewarding. There's a very generous card crafting system, and extra currency from that crafting system can be used to purchase cosmetics. This is also (basically) the only digital card game to embrace more than two players in a game. You can set up free for all, 2v2, 3 against 1, or any permutation you like, and not just on one gamemode- you can play with 3 or 4 players on EVERY game mode. Don't have enough people to fill all those slots? No worries! You can set up a game to use AI in any empty slots, in any configuration you like. The customization is crazy (and we haven't even really gotten to the customization yet- but I'll save that for a bit later). Gameplay is simple, but in a good way. It plays a lot like Hearthstone, but with a more interesting mana system. The mana system really is a big draw to me for the gameplay, since it restricts what you can do in the deckbuilding stage, but rarely restricts you while actually playing. Since any card can be mana, you'll never have too much or too little, except for when you put yourself into that situation. The rest of the mechanics are rather generic, but I think that's a good thing- it makes the game easy to understand from a surface level, and allows the complexity to be in the interactions between cards, most of which feel very well designed. You don't understand, I bought this game and played for 8 hours on the day of release. I only stopped playing because I needed to sleep. I played it on my PC, but I also played it on my steam deck and had a good experience there too. I wouldn't necessarily call the game "steam deck verified" yet, but if you don't mind playing games with a mouse on the deck it works well enough. Plus, the developer has mentioned adding controller support, at which point I imagine the steam deck will be my preferred way to play. Speaking of ways to play, do you like customization? Yep, we're back here again. You can create your own game modes. There's a pretty extensive game mode editor built into the game where you can change a ton of settings. That not enough for you? Did you know that you can mod this game? Do you want to make your own playmat and icons? You can do that. Don't like the art? Replace it. Did you want to make an entirely new set of cards? Well apparently you can do that too. It's still early days so I haven't had the chance to mess with it, but the customization options are absolutely insane in this game. Even if this game dies the same way so many card games do (and I really really hope that doesn't happen), there can still be new content that comes out, generated by the community. And that gives me faith in this game. Well, that and my brief interactions with the dev. That also gives me faith in this game. And I think you should have faith in this game too. If you love card games, please join this community. $15 is such a reasonable price for a game that has this much longevity. I know a buy in price for a card game is weird. I know the game looks a little janky. But trust me. It's worth it.
This is a quite unique ccg developed by a single dev. I really enjoyed play testing it during the alpha a couple of years ago. There are no hidden micro transactions, etc, as you can unlock all of the game's content just by playing.
I was introduced to this game by a friend and when it comes to Card games and I have played many, this game is very nice, gameplay is smooth, simple but still strategical and unique.
