The art style is cute, it has an adorable environment, funny animations like the character is like a tossed puppet when jumping here and there, and the vibes are really just calming, it just clicks for me, if you know what I mean! The story is just fine, not that great, but not that bad either. But for game play, some folks hate how you have to stay much in the mines to upgrade stuff, but I do not mind the grind that much, because I really like the crafting management farming sim type of games, and that's kinda typical. As you progress, gathering resources would definitely improve, so that's good. Plus, it's Deck Verified! But here comes the saddest part: I kept disconnecting when playing with others. We can't play it well enough to stay for even an hour playing. I bought this to enjoy its co-op aspect, but this game failed in that one. Sadly, I eventually stopped, and just discovered that this game seems to be dead: no support, no updates, nothing new. I should have listened to most negative reviews that this game is not being supported anymore and that this was abandoned. I even bought the whole package. Cannot refund it anymore. Fair warning: Give this game a hard pass if co-op means a lot to you. If you'll play alone, I guess it's just an okay game. Well, not for me anymore. P.S. What bewilders me though is the thought of the existence of healing magic, and yet there's a cripple carpenter. I get the idea of being inclusive, sure, which is great. I guess it's not worth deep diving into how it is impossible to heal that in a world full of magic, there's still limitation to it. Such an interesting concept.
The quality of life features in this game are excellent. It feels very smooth and convenient to play, with beautiful, high-quality animations that create a relaxing, cozy atmosphere. My biggest complaint is the social aspect. It feels surprisingly hollow and underdeveloped, especially for a game like this, where building relationships should be one of its strongest features. Overall, the game does many things well, and I was able to overlook the weak social system. However, I cannot recommend it at its full price. I bought the game along with all of its DLC during the Steam Summer Sale at 66% off, and at that price, I think it offers decent value. The main reason I can't recommend it more strongly is the sheer number of bugs. In fact, I've had to stop playing because I encountered a bug that prevents me from buying livestock, effectively blocking my progress. Considering how long the game has been available, the fact that it still suffers from this many bugs is simply unacceptable.
I'll start by saying that I played Fae Farm long enough to generally complete all of the main objectives, but it unfortunately never kept me hooked enough to want to keep going afterward. It's a decent farming simulator if you just want to power through the core progression milestones, but it lacks that special, addictive endgame loop required to make a cozy game truly last. I feel a bit bad saying this because I know a lot of people absolutely adore the visual aesthetic of this game, but I personally found the art style to be kind of blocky and not particularly pretty to look at over long play sessions. With so many visually stunning or beautifully stylized cozy games out there right now, the low-poly, chunky presentation here felt a bit outdated and just didn't completely click for me. To be clear, the mechanics work well enough to get you through the story, and the magical elements add a nice little twist to the standard farming loop. But once those primary tasks are checked off your list, the world begins to feel a bit hollow, and there isn't much substantive depth left to pull you back in. In the end, while it isn't a bad game by any means, it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. Given the higher-than-average price tag for this genre, it is definitely a title I would suggest waiting to pick up on a deep sale rather than buying at full price.
My daughter bought this game for me, with the dlc, and I cannot get enough of it. I replay it over and over.
I like the concept very much... but if you're like me and wanted something Animal Crossing / Pokopia vibes with farming/ building/ and light combat , I'm not sure if this is it. The designs are cute, the animations are unique, the voices are charming (except the "out of water" sound when you are using the watering can. I HATE it). I liked finding new breeds of flowers. The maps were a bit limiting. The dungeons were quiet repetitive. One thing about the inventory system, we weren't able to easily organize our bag inventory and the shed inventory as well, so it was hard to find our own items. I don't know if I would recommend though because it is extremely grinding and not chill. My partner and I played 33 hours... and got 2 cute wing sets. The main thing I liked was finding new flowers and that took SO long that eventually, we just kept ending the day faster and faster just to see some results. We tried really hard. I think all the systems in the game are good systems, it is just TOO much work to gain literally any meaningful progress in the game and felt more like a job.
I was struggling to find a cute farming game with enough extra content, fae farm has a good balance of mining and combat but would prefer a higher focus on farming. You can achieve a lot without planting many crops etc. My fav aspect of the game is catching critters and fishing, farm animals can be a bit tedious to take care of - feels like too much of a chore recommend but realistically an 8/10
This game is perfect for my play style. I love exploring and quests. I had no technical difficulties with the game and it was a fantastic experience. I’ve finished the main storyline and probably 85% of the profession-related quests, so I’ve decided to get the expansions too. Highly recommended!
Fae Farm is a fantastic farm sim with unique twists, though it does get progressively grindy. The pros definitely outweigh the cons, but their is one RNG-based farming mechanic that holds it back from being perfect. Pros: * Starter seeds grow in any season. * Multi-tasking is highly manageable in multiplayer. * No harsh penalties for staying out past midnight (you only miss a small rest buff). Cons: * Growing seasonal crops requires "Magic Swap Fertilizer," which only gives a chance to mutate crops based on RNG. * Gathering materials to craft your own fertilizer takes until late Fall, making solo play feel overwhelming when trying to balance mining, farming, and story quests. I really wish Phoenix Labs would add a toggle or update the fertilizer to guarantee a crop change. Overall, if you can look past the crop RNG, this game is absolutely worth picking up!
The game has too many glitches for uninterrupted fun. If you happen to proceed too quickly between clicks or talk to someone immediately after using a skill the game will freeze for an unreasonable amount of time.
