F.E.X (Forced Evolution Experiment)

It deserves the 7% user rating I found it at.

This has the potential to be one of those fun, quick little indie games, but unfortunately it's plagued by keyboard calibration bugs and a general lack of well-polished gameplay.

IT HAS A TROJAN

This game basically feels like they tried to make the Portal in-game infographics (you know, the ones with stick figures) into a game, but without any original gameplay mechanics. The central mechanic is a gimmick at best. It's basically a timer with a "cut down your timer for a buff" mechanic. The controls are clunky, the story is generic with the "GLaDOS"-like character practically becoming a different one halfway through the game. You're supposed to be able to figure out the story through the items, but most all of them are just generic sci-fi babble. Granted, they make it seem like you're supposed to replay the game multiple times to figure it out, but most of the "branching paths" are hidden at best and completely absent at worst, at least from what I can tell. The only obvious choices are "go through one door or the other", but those are rare and quite frankly the game isn't really enjoyable enough to really make me want to replay it for the awful story. I'm pretty sure I got this game as filler from a bundle, and that's pretty much the only way I'd recommend getting it at all.

"It can't be that bad, can it? Right?" No, it's a disaster. To put it mildly, it leaves a lot to be desired. I'll give you that the game mechanic of aging is an intriguing dynamic. But everything is clumsy, and the art style is worse than stick figure animation. In middle school, I used to play flash games with more substance than this. I would not recommend purchasing this for any price.

A horrid, buggy mess. Crashed six times (two on opening, three on completing the first level, one on clicking the "credits" button). Always crashed at the end of first level. Awarded the "game complete" achievement for no apparent reason, and did not reward any others. Graphics could be styled well enough, if I saw more, but seemed lazy as is. UI is terrible, even for what it was. Lack of scaling, especially text scaling, was painful, and no graphic options anywhere. No testing by way of controls, at a guess, or at all I'd argue. Poorly implemented stuff by almost every measure. Even for free, it wasn't worth the five minutes I spent in the game in order to write this, but it might be if it prevents anyone else from buying it.

Absolute Trash. I left the game running for 20mins so I could write this. Got this game in a humble bundle.

Horrible.

It's indie 100% Try the demo before buying to make sure it's up your alley.
