Short indie horror game experience where each level could be its own unique game! Despite being sent this game for free, I really did enjoy it and was legit terrified, intrigued and entertained throughout. Now, I won't lie- there is one puzzle that stumped me but that doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the game. Each monster is different as are the levels. They aren't lying when they tell you to be observant! Simply paying attention got me through- until that *one* part. Seems like the answer to that specific puzzle is randomly generated so a walkthrough didn't help me. BUT I will re-attempt to beat the game despite this. For this to be developed by a solo dev, it's an amazing game! I can't wait to see what else they come up with. I only played on Dream Mode but there is a Nightmare mode so the replayability is there. Also speedrunners will love this game!
This truly is a passion project, and it shows. Heartbyte Studios has managed to do something that a lot of AAA studios consistently fail at; they made this game genuinly frightening with an atmosphere that keeps your puls high at all times. A lot of horror games rely too much only on jump scares that surprises you, scares you for 20 seconds and then you have to wait until the next one, but they forget everything in between. Heartbyte Studios, however, did also have jump scares but they were less scary than the stuff before and after. You can walk somewhere completely empty in this game and still be on your toes because you have quickly learned to trust nothing, and you never know what may or may not happen. I am genuinly impressed at how well this game is made! Being made by a single creator, it is a little short in length compared to games from big studios (which is not at all a bad thing, it just leaves you wanting more and it's absolutely respectable seeing as how it's made by a lone wolf) and there are very, very minor graphical glitches here and there, which also is to be expected by a single game maker. I would very much take a curtain having a minor graphical glitch in this masterpiece of a passion project rather than the many game breaking bugs and glitches in Skyrim or Cyberpunk any day. I've also been in contact with Heartbyte and I know for a fact that they constantly work to eliminate every minor issue, showing more heart and focus than 2000+ employee studios today! All in all, I'd award this game with a very, very stron 9/10 rating. My one and only "complaint", if you can even call it that, is that I wished this game was longer so I could enjoy more of it, because this truly is a wonderful and frightening experience that every fan of horror games like Amnesia, Outlast, Alien: Isolation and the likes MUST experience. I'd even say that in most aspects, MIND CORRIDORS blow those games right out of the water!
Usually it's hard to find good indie horror games that hold my 5 second childlike attention span, but this one did and I enjoyed it so much that I played it from start to finish in one sitting. The enemies, puzzles and levels were very creative and I can't wait to see what this developer does next!
The only problem with this game is the fact that is was too short! I wanna see what more this team can do! Great Game!
A short and sweet game, puzzle driven with a tiny bit of tension to keep you on your toes. Don't worry, you can pause the game whenever you can, but you cannot escape from it. It was such a delight and well done to the dev. You deserve praise!
The developer of this game has really nailed what it means to build an atmosphere and build fitting environments. Had a blast going through this game, both marveling at the visuals but also being terrified by some of the atmospheres provided in the areas. At the point of this review there is still more content to come and I'm so eager to see what else will be added to this game, which I already recommend wholeheartedly to anyone who wants a good horror experience.
I had just recently re-played this game since a new expansion was added and I feel mostly the same as the first time I played. I really enjoy this game as a whole! The story is vague and kind of up to interpretation but its a very unique horror game with interesting visuals and some genuinely scary jumpscares and atmospheres! The main games puzzles arent too hard to figure out! Going into the expansion, a lot of my review stays the same with the added mechanic of this mirror that allows you to see into another realm, which I really liked and opened the door for some good gameplay. The puzzles in THIS section get harder. You're given hints at the start of the levels and while some are helpful, some kind of leave you scratching your head and some arent the most helpful especially the last section. We did get it eventually but it was a situation where there wasnt really direction leading to it. Despite the few issues, I would still say check this one out if you want a good and unique horror game!
one of the most surprising, polished, and underrated horror games i've ever played. absolutely phenomenal enemy design and an incredibly unique aesthetic. in fact, out of everything, i really only have two complaints: - some of the environments are a little too big for the character's movement speed and kind of break the pacing - the final level is tedious as hell and the only point in my entire playthrough where i felt more annoyed than scared i also ran into one bug on the aforementioned level where it
wouldn't let me sleep
no matter what i did until i restarted it outside of that, this game deserves so much more attention, because this was pretty much an absolutely terrifying experience from beginning to end
