I got a key to test the game. It's not bad, one of those classic rambo dungeon crawls.

this is freaking awesome. the gameplay is so well thought out that it must have been designed by a genius. it took my two loves- Contra and CRPGs and melded it together perfectly
Bought it on a whim after seeing a video of someone playing it, figuring that if I didn't like it my retro-loving partner would probably enjoy it. But after a couple of quick deaths I figured out the pacing and immediately got sucked in. The humour made me genuinely laugh out loud a few times and the gameplay is solid as hell. The only reason I'm not 4 hours in already is because I need to sleep.
As with Dungeonmans before it, Eye of the Commando stubbornly refuses to take itself seriously, and I love it for that. Right now, the game is short, but Jim is currently cooking on further updates. I got plenty of play out of EotC to justify the cost already, and I'm looking forward to what's next.
