The game is definitely for fans of the Civilization franchise. If you despise the Civ franchise as I do, you will almost certainly not like this game. It takes many hours to get anywhere while learning the advancement and combat aspects of the game, and the payoff is excruciating combat mechanics. After 20 hours put into a single player campaign, I am defending my city with ranged troops, melee troops, and the most worthless fortress in the history of video games. It offers zero cover or defense for my ranged troops, and I cannot even put my melee troops on the front lines as they are in reserve at the beginning of combat at the rear. This is despite the fact they are the militia charged with defense of the city. They are rendered useless. At that point I uninstalled the game after several attempts that showed I had no path to victory. The charts of my empire's progress after quitting the campaign shows that I was the 2nd most advanced empire in terms of exploration, advancement, military strength, and population among others; however, the empire that has come to burn my empire to the ground has insanely more advanced everything playing on normal, indicating the AI for this empire was maxing everything from the outset. This is just not appealing. This would still have been forgivable had it not been for the extremely poor options during combat.
I'm too dumb to play this game. A lot of learning curve but don't get discourage if you do like this kind of game. I will take my time learning this in the future.
