About
"ELEVATOR: AVICI" is a first-person psychological horror game wrapped in a gritty, retro Hong Kong lo-fi aesthetic.
The story roots itself in the shadowy corners of modern Hong Kong.
At 2:00 AM, you are just an ordinary delivery worker, stepping into a derelict apartment building for one last routine order.
Waiting for you is a classic, clanking cage elevator—the kind you’ve ridden a thousand times before, smelling faintly of machine oil and decay.
As you press the loose, wobbling button, the metal chassis groans and screeches into motion, just as it always does. But this time, your fate veers off the predictable track.
The routine shatters.
The elevator malfunctions violently. Imprisoned in this suffocating metal box, you have no choice but to watch the erratic floor indicator spin into chaos.
It might be suspended forever in the pitch-black shaft; or perhaps, it has already crossed the threshold into a supernatural realm that does not belong to the living…
In the dead silence, your sole lifeline is the distorted static of the emergency intercom.
A strange voice, claiming to be a "repairman," promises he can guide you to safety—if only you follow his commands.
Will you trust his orders, or forge your own path to survival?
The choice is yours.

Short but sweet and with 3 endings too! https://youtu.be/a0xMXtyCmY0

Elevator: Avici is a horror game about trying to escape an elevator that a creature is using as a trap for its victims. Liked: Gross monster design Great low-poly PS1 / PS2 aesthetic Multiple endings, multiple deaths Can be beaten in 1 sitting DIsliked: Not many settings, and some parts of the game can be really dark Kinda short Overall I really enjoyed this game. Having there be different deaths you go through to figure out a path to escaping the elevator was a great idea, and I love multiple endings and secret hunting. If you're looking for a spooky fun time that can be wrapped up in under an hour, then check this game out.
I enjoyed this this, a bit short but good. https://youtu.be/5bGTbeuu9yY
Developed and published by Southern Cross, ELEVATOR: AVICI is a psychological horror game that proves an unsettling experience does not require sprawling environments or endless exploration. Instead, it confines players to a worn-out cage elevator inside an aging apartment building in Hong Kong, using that single setting to create an atmosphere of relentless tension. The game embraces a retro visual style inspired by classic PlayStation-era graphics and VHS aesthetics, giving every dimly lit corridor, rusted metal surface, and flickering light an eerie sense of nostalgia. Rather than aiming for realism, it leans into its stylized presentation to make the unknown feel even more disturbing, allowing the imagination to amplify every strange sound and unexplained event. The story begins with an ordinary late-night delivery that quickly turns into a nightmare. As the protagonist prepares to complete what should have been a routine final stop, the elevator suddenly malfunctions and traps them inside. From that moment onward, reality becomes increasingly difficult to trust. The floor indicator behaves erratically, mechanical noises echo through the shaft, and supernatural occurrences blur the line between hallucination and genuine paranormal activity. The mysterious realm known as Avici becomes the center of the narrative, leaving players questioning whether they are trapped inside a broken elevator or something far more sinister. This gradual unraveling of reality keeps curiosity high throughout the experience and encourages players to pay close attention to environmental details. Instead of relying solely on monsters or constant jump scares, ELEVATOR: AVICI builds its horror around uncertainty and psychological pressure. The protagonist's only apparent connection to the outside world is an emergency intercom, through which an unseen repairman offers guidance. Whether this voice is genuinely trying to rescue the player or leading them toward an even darker fate remains unclear, creating an engaging layer of suspense. The choices players make throughout the game influence how events unfold, leading to multiple endings that reward exploration and careful decision-making. This branching structure gives the relatively compact adventure additional replay value while reinforcing its themes of trust, manipulation, and survival. The game's strongest feature is its commitment to atmosphere. Every detail, from the groaning machinery to the oppressive silence between unsettling events, contributes to an overwhelming feeling of isolation. The confined setting never feels repetitive because subtle environmental changes, visual distortions, and carefully timed supernatural moments continuously reshape the player's perception of the elevator. Environmental puzzles help break up the narrative without slowing its momentum, while cinematic sequences maintain immersion without overwhelming the player with excessive exposition. Fans of psychological horror will likely appreciate the measured pacing, where fear grows naturally through anticipation instead of nonstop action. Southern Cross also makes it clear that the game contains mature content, including intense psychological horror, claustrophobic situations, sudden jump scares, and graphic depictions of a fatal elevator accident featuring blood and dismemberment. These moments are designed to reinforce the disturbing tone rather than simply shock the player. The developer is also transparent about using AI-assisted tools during the creation of certain environmental textures and assets, while emphasizing that these elements were refined by artists to fit the game's overall artistic direction. That openness helps players understand the production process while keeping the creative vision firmly centered on the developers' work. ELEVATOR: AVICI succeeds by transforming one of the most ordinary locations imaginable into a place filled with dread and uncertainty. Its focused setting, psychological storytelling, branching narrative, and distinctive retro presentation work together to create a horror experience that prioritizes immersion over spectacle. Although its premise is intentionally limited in scope, the game uses that limitation as one of its greatest strengths, demonstrating how carefully crafted atmosphere and compelling storytelling can make even a single elevator ride unforgettable. Players looking for an unsettling supernatural mystery built around tension, exploration, and meaningful choices should find plenty to appreciate in this haunting descent into the unknown.
