Nice puzzle metroidvania with a twist. Controls are so so but adjusting game speed makes them better. There is no combat, just using habilities, from which you can choose one at the beginning of the game and cand switch it whenever you want. As you progress you can then choose two of the habilities to have, then three, etc. This makes it cool to explore the world and see which habilities you need to reach each place. It is a short but really good game for people who like exploration and puzzle games

A nice, small-scale metroidvania that can easily be completed within 5 hours. No combat, with the exception of a few rather simple boss fights. With no background art, tinny diegetic music coming from a radio that you carry around, and very little environmental sound design, the game isn't quite as atmospheric as it wants to be. Sparse music & sound arrangement CAN make for an atmospheric game, but I don't think Elephantasy's execution of that is quite as strong as games like Lizard (NES) or A Short Hike. However, I recommend this game for two reasons: it's got charm in spades. The NPCs you come across are all super quaint, with dialogue that's equally so. The game is chill enough that it could very well fall under the "cozy" category - something quite rare for a metroidvania. The other thing that makes this game stand out is something I've never quite seen in this genre before: all the abilities you need to traverse the map are right there from the beginning...but you start by only being able to carry one. The more gems you collect, the more abilities you're able to wield. This forces you to problem-solve in a way that you ordinarily wouldn't in a metroidvania, and I thought that was really neat. Also, for how small the game is, the level design is quite solid and the map was fun to explore. It may not be up there in the best metroidvanias I've ever played, but it does just enough to warrant a full play through.
тот самый "hidden gem"
While the game might present itself in a rather innocent fashion, don't be fooled! This game might be minimalistic in style, its content is of great quality and rich depth. As a cute elephant, you wander around in a retro-inspired, pixelated world, searching for a way to progress. Progression is very similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, where you buy equipment to open up new areas becoming stronger. In this game, however, you set out to gather gems, which will allow you to carry more of the several items you can borrow at the start. At first, you can only pick one item at a time, but as you gain more gems, you'll be able to carry several new combinations, opening up new places on the map. In addition, there are several secrets scattered around the world - which is interconnected in a metroidvania-like way - some of which are hinted at by NPCs or signs, while others leave you completely to your own wits to figure out. While I didn't have the patience to find every single secret, the ones I did find were very satisfying. Unlike most modern metroidvanias and zeldalikes, Elephantasy does not feature any combat. Don't expect a very action-packed adventure here; the game really is mostly about figuring out how to progress, how to get to that key or gem that's just out of reach, etc. The music, while great and fun, does get a little repetitive over time. The instrumentation isn't incredibly varied and thus can begin to sound very samey after extended playtime. The loops are also relatively short, or at least that's how they felt to me. Staying too long in one area can become slightly annoying for that very reason. All in all, this is a great, minimalistic game, with surprising depth, both in the story and gameplay. It plays like a mix of metroidvania (interconnected map, secrets), Zelda games (borrowing equipment) and platformers such as VVVVVV (platforming as a puzzle). I recommend it strongly, but do keep in mind that its presentation is rather sober. Don't expect any crazy graphics or emotional cutscenes. With that said, enjoy!
Charming little metroidvania.
Elephantasy is a great little game! The hours I spent with it were really enjoyable, though it is very short. I do wish it explained some of its mechanics a little better, but it is well worth a purchase.
good game but has a major bug. beat dragon boss 3 times, game crashes everytime when killed it. lose gem number during the last time load save to crash, but can't collect again. feels can't 100% with the save. last issue is walking too slow, even running.
