While I love the idea of adding Torrent customisation and making the DLC exclusive weapons available in the basegame, this definitely should've simply been a free update.
Im a FromSoft fan, ill buy every 200$ collectors edition they release but this is ridiculous. This should have been a free download as part of the patch for everyone. 2 classes and armors is hardly worth 5$ but also it IS only 5$. Just hopefully this is not a sign of change for the company, I dont want to lose another great studio to greed.

From a 'de jure' standpoint this isn't a terrible value proposition for the money, 4 new armour sets [3 if you've already beaten the game on your save file though], 3 horse armours and a handful of weapons is ok for the money. However, most of the new weapons are taken from the SOTE DLC, so if you have SOTE already you are being ripped off - they're selling you ♥♥♥♥ you already have. [8 total "new" weapons, but only 2 of them + a shield is actually genuinely new.] I'm not as mad about it as other people because it is cheap after all, but it feels somehow like it's retroactively taken away value from SOTE because of the copy paste weapons. Either it should've been a free update or come with more content that wasn't in a DLC I already paid for.
It's like watching an angel fall...
The new shareholders said they didn't make enough off Elden Ring... so now we're charging $5 for what should be a free update? You could just leave this masterpiece of gaming alone...
And so it begins From Software entering the depths of hell that are micro-transactions for items. Yes, this was originally intended for the Switch release but I think everyone assumed it would come free with v1.17, but it's a shame FS choose to paywall this content for existing owners of the game.
Remember that you can only leave a review for a DLC pack if you've bought it. The 1k people ranting about how this DLC should've been free, how it's Fromsoft's Horse Armor DLC, and how buying it will slippery slope into microtransactions in future Fromsoft games all paid for this. There is a good chance that any Elden Ring-adjacent Youtube channel who decried this DLC and told you not to buy it bought it themselves, and have made videos on it. Don't buy a single bit of their complaints or lies about buying this accidentally: they are complicit and hypocrites. But is the DLC worth it? Let's put it this way: this DLC, for $5, gives you seven new weapons, four new sets of armor, two new starting classes, and skins for your spectral steed, Torrent. Most of the new weapons provide access to originally DLC-exclusive weapons into the base game, meaning you don't have to complete a large part of the game for them. The Somber weapons are the returning favorite of the Mirrah Greatsword and a unique flail, both with interesting ashes of war. The armor's okay, though only one set seems to provide passive effects. Finally, the most controversial part of the DLC, the Torrent skins: Horse Armor 2.0. There are three of them, located in Godrick's throne room, Ranni's Tower, and the graveyard on the way to Leyndell. They're purely cosmetic, providing no benefit to Torrent, though each one drastically changes how Torrent looks, with one of them actually making armor clinking sounds while moving. So, with this information, is this worth $5 to you? You have to figure that out on your own, with or without considering the implications for the future. In my opinion, this DLC being $5 is acceptable, considering the amount of extra things provided. If you don't want to support the potential enshittification of Fromsoft games that could come from buying this DLC, then don't buy it. But don't be like these idiots who went out of their way to purchase something they themselves rallied to boycott.
Spiritually israeli dlc
I hate that this costs money. Keep this up From and youll end up like Ubisoft
Short version: The content is worth the price, but it should've been free. Long version: It's a DLC that gets you Three cosmetic changes for your horse, Four suits of armor (one of which is locked behind a 37 int check), two new starting classes, a very fun dex weapon, a very fun FTH flail, and several early game versions of the SOTE weapons, including a dueling shield. The content is integrated into the world in a very non-intrusive way, too, which is nice. The two new starting classes provide a dex-faith option, and give a heavyweight alternative to the Vagabond for people going for heavy armor or greatshield builds. Of the weapons, the two unique ones are very nice and give some cool gameplay, the dueling shield is busted as all dueling shields are, the great curved sword (starting wep for Heavy Knight and found really early in-game) is a good low-stat alternative to the dismounter that does not require farming, and all the other weapons are decent as low-stat infusable alternatives to SotE weapons you'd normally not get until late in a playthrough. The armor all looks nice and all four can be gotten prior to defeating Morgott, and one of them is one of the most revealing sets in the game (though the chestpiece will give you a slightly withered appearance). The Torrent skins just shouldn't have been added, they look nice but they invite the horse armor comparisons when this is something closer to Gun Runner's Arsenal from New Vegas. Overall, I think it's worth the price and provides a good amount of content that equals the prince point, and it's all integrated well into the game where if you didn't know it was part of the content, you would just think it's part of the game. However, there's a huge caveat. This stuff should've just been free. There was no real reason to charge $5 for this when it could've just been a free update like so many other devs do and fromsoft has done in the past. It would've been far better for corporate reputation to have it be a free update than it would've been to get some money out of this, and I have no doubt this will damage sales of both Duskbloods and Spellbound or whatever that in-dev game is going to be called on release.
