Ecognomix is one of those games where I started thinking “this is a pretty decent strategy roguelike” and ended thinking “why does my laptop sound like it’s preparing for atmospheric re-entry?” Seriously, graphically the game looks perfectly average, yet somehow it managed to overheat my machine hard enough to shut it down twice during the campaign. Not during an all-night marathon either, just normal play sessions. I wasn’t fighting enemies anymore, I was fighting thermodynamics. That said, the actual turn-based combat is solid. Battles are fun, tactical enough to stay engaging, and the roguelike structure works well. The story, on the other hand, is gloriously silly, but honestly that kind of fits the vibe. There’s some grinding involved, though not enough to become painful. The “city-building” side is where things start feeling a bit too simplistic. Calling it city building is generous: it’s really more like basic base management. The fact you can demolish, move, and replace buildings instantly with zero penalty makes urban planning feel less like strategy and more like rearranging furniture because you got bored. Overall, despite the questionable optimization and lightweight management systems, the strategy gameplay itself carries the experience. Recommended for turn-based strategy fans… preferably with a good cooling system nearby. A solid 7/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A very enjoyable roguelite, city builder, turn based puzzle with one significant game design issue. Most of the permanent upgrades you can purchase unlock new temporary upgrades for the current run/dive, which unfortunately dilutes the limited choices you get per shop, making it harder to find the all-important upgrades like Productivity. This is bad design that encourages you to not purchase upgrades. Other than that, it is just my thing and I love it.
It is a nice game where you have fun and think a bit or a lot and try to maximize your use of the units you can have. This sounds probably not very interesting but it is. In the beginning you have just the choice between wood cutters and hunters of different types. Later you get other units, like a chef who can triple the food income. But you need wood to get more units and you need wood to buy your units certain perks. You are always short on something and have to think. If you like puzzles, this might be for you. No stress. Just turn based thinking. And it looks nice. Just ... not really my thing. :--)

Cute short puzzle roguelike. It's a bit hard, but I enjoyed the challenge very much. The biomes have very different mechanics and I had to change my strategy quite a bit. I also played the game during 1.0 where it was A LOT harder and I managed anyway so I don't get people complaining about the current difficulty. On that note.... why not bring 1.0 back while keeping the bans for the gnome upgrades. The second biome was sooo difficult, but it was so rewarding to beat. P.S.: @spicedpigeon, where Ecognomix DLC??
It's fun to play as a very obviously scammy/greedy mayor sending would-be adventurers into a death cave for the very obviously forbidden treasure at the bottom. No, this isn't a spoiler, this is something you learn within the opening cutscene and gameplay.
