About
Eclipse of Eldergaard is a dark fantasy, time-bound action-adventure where every second counts. You are thrown into a cursed world teetering on the edge of destruction, tasked with a single, desperate mission: close the four hell gates before Umbra, the fallen Wukong of Shadow, returns to consume the overworld.
Long ago, the divine chose two legendary brothers:
Solion, the Wukong of Light, destined to protect the overworld.
Umbra, the Wukong of Shadow, bound to rule the underworld.
But greed devoured Umbra’s heart. He denied the divine order, opening the gates of hell to unleash his wrath upon mankind. Cities burned, skies bled crimson, and hope nearly perished. To end the slaughter, Solion battled his brother in an earth-shattering duel. Neither could win, until Solion forged a desperate solution, a crystal seal that bound Umbra into eternal imprisonment.
With his final breath, Umbra cursed the world:
“Every 33 years, on the Bloody Day, my legions will rise again… and my prison will weaken.”
You are Ren Huo, the youngest and weakest disciple chosen by Solion’s legacy. Unlike the First Disciple, whose strength rivaled legends, you are untested, fragile, yet burdened with destiny.
On this Bloody Day, the seal weakens. Hell gates crack open across Eldergaard known as Crimson Valley, spewing demons. The First Disciple of Solion watches you from the shadows, mocking your every step, testing whether you deserve the mantle of Light.
The world does not need another legend.
It needs someone willing to bleed against time itself.
The seal weakens every moment you linger.
Your mission: close all three hell gates before the crystal prison shatters.
Fail to seal the gates → Umbra escapes. He will strike you down in two blows, one dodged by fate, the second ending your journey.
Succeed in sealing them → Umbra remains trapped, and light returns to Eldergaard.
Every playthrough is a test of endurance, timing, and decision-making. The clock never stops.
Scattered across the land:
Crystal Shards → used to heal and stabilize Umbra’s weakening seal.
Four Sacred Crystals → awaken your hidden potential, unlocking your full disciple powers.
Without them, you are vulnerable. With them, you may stand a chance when the final strikes.
Throughout your journey, you are watched.
The First Disciple of Light, the strongest warrior Solion ever trained, appears not to aid you, but to taunt you. His words cut as deep as the claws of Umbra’s demons, reminding you of your weakness.
But why does he watch?
Is it judgment, or preparation for something darker?
Intense Time-Limited Gameplay – every second matters as the seal decays.
Hell Gate Encounters – face swarms of demons, each gate summons danger.
Crystal Progression System – collect shards to heal the seal and sacred crystals to unlock your true disciple form.
Dynamic Combat – dodge, strike, and survive as waves of enemies test your skill.
Two Possible Endings – fail and witness Umbra’s freedom… succeed and secure Eldergaard’s fragile hope.
Atmospheric World – one overworld map, one task-based mode, both filled with dread, fire, and the crimson skies of the Bloody Day.
Eclipse of Eldergaard is not a story of triumph. It is a story of survival, sacrifice, and inevitability.
Solion vanished into myth. Umbra waits for his chains to break.
Now, the burden falls on you.
Will you rise against the Bloody Day, or become just another shadow in the eclipse?
Estimated playtime: ~1 hour.

- Great game if you want to kill some time killing waves of enemies. - Will say that the laser beam attack is incredibly overpowered compared to the rest of the abilities. - The main title screen does not have a quit button so you have to ALT+F4 to exit the game. - Could do with a short tutorial level to see what each ability does. - I would probably remove the sheath and unsheath option in the game because it doesn't make sense really. If you've obtained your sword then you wouldn't really go back to your fists would you? But that's just me. - Maybe add objectives to the game such as "Kill 10 grunts" or "Defeat boss to obtain key to chest" and waves that progressively get harder as you go along and steadily introduce armor upgrades etc at an upgrade booth. (Just an idea). - Maybe add in some extra death noises too or reduce the current ones as they do get repetitive. - The main menu buttons don't really seem responsive and could do with highlighting when hovering over them. - There's too many slow motion death finishers, reduce them down or have them activate on critical hits?

Eclipse of Eldergaard is a compact dark-fantasy action adventure developed and published by Black Scar Studio. Rather than building its identity around a massive world or dozens of hours of content, the game focuses on creating a tense and fast-paced experience where every decision matters. Set during a catastrophic event known as the Bloody Day, the story follows Ren Huo, a young disciple tasked with preventing an ancient evil from breaking free and plunging the world into ruin. The narrative embraces familiar themes of destiny, sacrifice, and the battle between light and darkness, but it presents them through a constant sense of urgency that helps the game stand apart from many indie fantasy releases. The lore centers on two legendary brothers whose conflict shaped the fate of the world. One represents light and order, while the other embodies shadow and destruction. As the seal imprisoning the dark force begins to fail, Ren Huo becomes humanity’s unlikely hope. The story succeeds in creating a dramatic backdrop for the adventure, especially because the threat feels immediate rather than distant. Players are not simply preparing for a future disaster; they are actively racing against time to stop it from happening. This pressure gives the narrative a stronger emotional impact and makes progression feel meaningful from beginning to end. One of the game’s most interesting mechanics is its reliance on a countdown-driven structure. Time is not merely a background element but a core gameplay feature that influences nearly every choice. Players must locate and close hell gates before the world reaches a point of no return. Exploring too much, lingering in battles, or making inefficient decisions can have serious consequences. This design encourages careful planning and gives encounters a sense of importance. Instead of mindlessly clearing every enemy, players must constantly evaluate whether an action is worth the time investment. Combat focuses on survival, movement, and quick reactions. Battles against demonic creatures require players to dodge incoming attacks while taking advantage of opportunities to strike back. Although the combat system appears relatively straightforward, it fits the game's overall philosophy. The emphasis is on maintaining momentum and staying alive rather than mastering highly complex mechanics. The result is an action system that remains accessible while still providing enough challenge to keep players engaged throughout the adventure. Progression is tied to the collection of valuable crystals scattered throughout the world. Crystal Shards can be used to reinforce the weakening seal and provide restorative benefits, while more powerful Sacred Crystals enhance Ren Huo’s abilities. This resource system introduces an additional strategic layer because players must decide how to allocate their findings. The choice between strengthening their character or focusing on the greater mission reinforces the game's recurring theme of balancing personal survival against the fate of the world. The atmosphere is another notable strength. Eldergaard is presented as a land consumed by dread, with demonic invasions, corrupted environments, and an overwhelming sense of impending disaster. The mature themes, violent encounters, and dark visual style contribute to a setting that feels appropriately grim. The world may not be enormous, but it effectively conveys the feeling of a kingdom standing on the edge of extinction. This atmosphere enhances both the story and gameplay, ensuring that the urgency of the mission never fades into the background. A mysterious figure known as the First Disciple also plays an important role throughout the journey. Rather than acting as a supportive mentor, this character constantly challenges and questions the protagonist. His presence adds intrigue to the story and creates uncertainty regarding his true motives. The psychological pressure he places on Ren Huo complements the external threats facing the world, giving the narrative additional depth beyond the central conflict with demonic forces. The game's relatively short runtime is both an advantage and a limitation. Players looking for a focused experience can appreciate the absence of filler content and the commitment to maintaining tension from start to finish. However, those seeking extensive exploration, deep role-playing systems, or a lengthy campaign may find the adventure ends sooner than expected. The inclusion of multiple endings helps encourage replayability, but the experience remains intentionally concise. Overall, Eclipse of Eldergaard delivers a memorable dark-fantasy journey built around urgency, atmosphere, and meaningful decision-making. Its time-sensitive gameplay creates tension that few games manage to sustain consistently, while its combat and progression systems support the central theme of fighting against impossible odds. Although its modest scope prevents it from reaching the depth of larger action RPGs, it succeeds in offering a distinctive and engaging adventure that values quality and focus over sheer size.
