this game is seven minutes long and you watch a dog get abused and go through hell. From the pictures it looks like you have a cute house and go to a park, no, you watch people die and the dog get abused the full 7 minutes.

[h3]If your idea of fun is sit through scripted cutscenes with royalty-free music, no lines of dialogue, and the inability to influence the narrative in any way, then The Life of One Dog is an RPG Maker widget made just for you. Avoid it like the plague.[/h3] I try to approach every game with an open mind, regardless of personal preferences, but [i]The Life of One Dog[/i] is a true test of patience. From it lazy use of prepackaged RPG Maker assets, to recycled open source music, to less than 10 minutes of runtime from start to finish, it's clear how little effort was made to try to craft an enjoyable experience. The "game" is a series of rapid-fire vignettes of a pup's encounters across its lifetime, from adoption, to abuse, to homelessness, to pit fighting, and finally to making the ultimate sacrifice. Perhaps there was an actual story behind this, but it's presented so quickly there's no time to form any emotional attachments with its inhabitants, no choices to make and feel the weight of the consequences from, no takeaway or life lesson to glean from it. There are very few occasions you must click to move the dog from one screen to another, but the dramatization largely progresses with no input from you - it even continues playing when out of focus. There's a puzzling scene where the game has dogs attacking you in a fighting ring, displaying what looks like directional inputs, but no keys produce any response. Was this intentional? Was the dog trying to lose the fights? Dunno, it's too incoherent to decipher an overarching theme or purpose, and oh, we're already in another scene. Oops, we're already at the credits. OneDog.exe has closed. You get an achievement for sitting through the entire thing, but even so, the game is profile restricted so it doesn't count for anything. I have no issue with cheap games, easy achievement games, or RPG Maker games. But please, make a rewarding, emotionally compelling, or visually impressive experience that gives me something to justify dumping money into. This application feels like a test of just how low the bar goes for a game to earn a store page, which apparently, is not much. [u]Achievement Hunters[/u]: Complete the game. RPG Maker strikes again! The Life of One Dog is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker, but unlike most RPG Maker shovelware asset flips, the Russian scammers here didn't bother trying to make an RPG or even including any dialogue... you just watch an asset flipped pixel dog move around. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art and looks awful, but unlike most RPG Maker shovelware, this has no gameplay, it's not a game. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. BrainStorming Team/КиКо have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work. The Life of One Dog didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is just for watching it launch, and only around 31 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game, less than half the players. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. That's right, only 3. And they weren't even playing the game, that was just the fake review accounts idling the game so they could write the reviews КиКо paid for. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. The Life of One Dog is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
