it is a good game besides the fact theres no free rome for fighting boss so like no grinding kinda dum but thats the only flaw in my opinoin

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Its a long game so if your into grinding you will love this game but you do need a very good graphics card and ram to run it
Arf... dommage... ça n'a aucun sens...

I've reviewed other SAO games so I've explained my history with the franchise before but let's run it back real quick. I am an adult in their 30's who started watching anime as a young adult fresh out of high school. SAO was one of my first anime and... well, you know how when you start watching anime there's kind of a honey moon period? Especially if you love art and animation, everything is so fresh, new, and overall just very different than western style animation. Combine that with the fact I'm a life long gamer and I loved the series. Later as an more discerning and perhaps more cynical adult, I think while SAO has a interesting world, good art, and actually surprisingly good OST, the story and characters are shallow and childish. I keep up with the franchise still but I'd be lying if it wasn't mostly nostalgia at this point, also I feel like regardless of what you think of the show, it's hard to be a gamer and not find the idea of a "full dive" VR MMO super interesting. There's also a bit of longing there, I admit. I feel like this series could have been much better, which brings me to the game itself... One of the most common complaints I hear about SAO (the show) is that while the death game thing was a very interesting idea, the stakes very quickly feel nonexistent as you very quickly realize your Mary sue protagonist and his harem (plus his two dude friends who get zero screen time lol) are in zero danger. Not that you would care if any of them died since they have very little backstory or depth. That however, is what drew me to this game. Aside from my silly "member berries" (get the reference?) driven motivation to play almost every SAO game, this one in particular caught my attention because it seemed like a more grounded look at the whole death game premise that even critics of the series admit was pretty damn cool. I am not that far into the game yet, so story wise I don't have much to say. The prologue isn't all that interesting so far, I will say I went into this with super low expectations as someone who has played most of the other games which are just awful (gun gale is pretty good though). My only expectation gameplay wise was that it was better than the previous games and I gotta say it definitely met and exceeded that expectation. Even though it's the typical souls like arpg feel that is so common these days, it works. There's a reason that style of combat gameplay is so popular right now! Also the inclusion of the "switch" mechanic from the anime to manage aggro is pretty interesting. So far I don't feel like it's all that well done, like actually engaging with the aggro management doesn't seem necessary. Just toggle on solo mode, wait for the the exhaustion bar to deplete, then toggle back to switch, wait for the bar to replenish, which it does very quickly, then toggle solo back on. Maybe if the game gave you better control over toggling aggro between you and companion while in switch mode? Anyway that's all I have to say so far. I think I'll add more once I'm further in the story. I'm sure fans of the series will enjoy this game, so I recommended if you are, otherwise I kinda doubt your typical AAA and AA gamer will enjoy this or even indie enjoyers. This is strictly for fans imo.
Finally finished the game on Death Game mode, so time for a quick review. This game has a lot of issues, BUT it's amazing for a particular type of person. If you: 1. Really really like Sword Art Online. Especially Arc 1 of Season 1. 2. Enjoy a challenge because I believe Death Game mode is a large reason why I enjoyed the game so much. 3. Are someone that likes to put a podcast or YouTube on in the background while you grind. If you are all three of those things, you will love this game like I did. I was never really a fan of the other SAO games. The more serious grounded aspect of this one is what drew me in and I do not at all regret playing through it despite the issues.
First of all, I can't stress enough that you should play the demo before purchasing this game. It's content that you're going to have to do anyway and will let you know if you vibe with the look/feel of the game and the gameplay loop. Because don't get it twisted, although the game opens up beyond the demo with the likes of crafting, weapon skills etc etc. The base gameplay loop will be the same throughout, get quest, go to closed off area, explore it, do the objective and return home. It's repetitive and while I think the overall feel of the game excuses that it might not be for you at all. This game does kinda feel like the ultimate potential man. The look of the game, the way the combat works, the actual immersion into aincrad is done quite well. There's lore tidbits all over and overall I think they really did nail that SAO vibe. But on the flipside it falls short in a lot of areas; I think my biggest gripe with the game is the overworld. They chose not to opt for a true open world which I think is a correct choice! Most games can't do it very well. But instead of getting tight curated maps that are fun and made with intent they somehow ended up with the worst of both worlds, overly large maps that you are locked into for that quest but also hitting that empty open world vibe at the same time. Long stretches of nothing mixed with long meandering roads makes for a fairly dull experience, not to mention an overabundance of useless treasure chests(an egregious example being a chest behind a wall you need to set on fire with a firebomb...that then rewards you a firebomb). That's not to say the exploration is all bad, the maps themselves are beautiful and they're not all created equally that's for sure, some are fun to explore and figure out. But some are tedious. Otherwise I think the game overall is fine, the story is decent albeit quite backloaded(which I think exacerbates the feeling of repetition since sometimes you can go a while without any real story beats) really and the end of the game has few things resolved - Not sure if the future expansion will wrap it up or if it's sequel bait, but the overall narrative is quite good and to their credit you are left curious at a lot of the goings on in the world. I do wish our character wasn't silent though, or at least was capable of contributing to team dialogue and situations with more than a simple nod or smile. Kinda jarring. Combat is fun, wide variety of weapon skills and each weapon feels unique and distinct! The MOD system lets you customise your weapon according to what you want to build or if you want to shore up weaknesses etc (I recommend getting sprint speed, you'll be running a lot). I will says the daggers are pretty broken if you're looking for a cheesy weapon. All in all, It's a bamco SAO game, so be a bit realistic with expectations but if you're a fan of the franchise I think it does quite well. It's mid, it's chill, I had fun personally!
