EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN

ผมว่ามันเป็นเกม EDF ที่ดี แต่ควรจะดีได้มากนี้ เหมือนคนสร้างสร้างเสร็จแล้วก็ทิ้งเลยไม่พยายามขัดเกลาให้มันสมบรูณ์ ข้อดี* -เป็นภาคที่แต่งตัวละครได้(ไม่ได้เป็นระบบอะไรที่สำคัญนักแต่เป็นระบบที่ทำให้ผมตัดสินใจซื้อเกมนี้) -ภาพสวย -สมจริงมากขึ้นเท่าที่จะทำได้ -ไม่ล็อคปืนตามคลาสเหมือนภาคอื่นๆ ข้อเสีย* -Ai เพื่อนร่วมทีมแย่มาก มันไม่ช่วยยิง มันยิงไปในอากาศหันไปทางที่ที่ไม่มีศัตรูอยู่ (ภาคอื่นมันก็ไม่ช่วยมากนักแต่ มันก็ยังช่วยยิงจริงๆ ไม่ใช่ยืนเฉยๆเล็งไปในอากาศขนาดนี้ ส่วนตัวผมคิดว่ามันทำให้เสียบรรยากาศของเกมมากๆ) -ปืนที่พอใช้ได้มีไม่กี่กระบอก ที่เหลือ ค่อนข้างติ๊งต๊อง

EDF: Iron Rain will likely not function right out of the box for you. I needed to manually patch the game plus mess around with the game's steam launch parameters to make it further than the intro cutscene. And unfortunately, the game still had plenty of bugs (hehe) besides. Including rapidly flashing strobing equipment menus! Beyond the technical hiccups, it's EDF but mediocre. Character creation is neat, the final boss has a neat design and the winter-y setting is fun (though extremely underused IMO) but it's simple, dull, and exhausting. Even on normal, some of the late-game missions took me 20+ minutes of brainless bullet hosing to beat. And between a lackluster enemy variety, awful gun foley work, bullet sponge enemies, and the constant staggering any time anything attacks near you? It quickly devolves into an exhausting slog. I can't imagine how tedious it must be to go for all achievements or a full game clear (And yes, I know I'm saying this as a big EDF 4.1 fan). I can't recommend this over any of the mainline EDF games. If you're a series newcomer, get a mainline game. If you're looking for your next EDF hit, play a mainline game you haven't touched yet. And if you've played every other EDF game and you're desperate for more EDF? Just go in with low expectations.
