Earth Atlantis is a 2D Bullet-Hell Microvania where you play as a submarine that is sent by the base on a distress call to save the west see from the creatures invasion. The game offers a small micro map where you navigate through routes under the sea with your submarine, the map is showing locations of the bosses that you need to take out one by one. You will be swarmed with enemies from each corner. What I liked about the graphics is that it represents the palette color of an 80s film, it's rare and unique. The controls were pretty flawless and it can get chaotic as well when you're swarmed by dozens of enemies along with your upgrades whether it's homing missiles, bombs or beams. The game has no upgrade systems, you find upgrades by either destroying barrels/boxes or from killing small enemies. Your job is to try to not get hit / die as you lose them and it can sometimes take time to recover them again after losing them. The OST and music was relaxing and it was enjoyable to listen to while navigating the depths of the sea, especially when it intensifies while facing bosses. The boss fights were challenging and will put your continuous focus and dodging skills to the test, a small mistake can be really crucial as you can get chunked pretty quick from late game bosses. Having said that, some bosses design were repeatable with just a few of attacks changed, however it still will give you that adrenaline pump and the fun challenge to test yourself in dodging hundreds of bullets. It's recommended if you love 2D Bullet Hell and it's as well a mix with a microvania. Overall Rating 8/10
The weapon upgrades are great, and the unlockable ships bring fun diversity to the game. The scenario and mechanics are cool, too, and the missing story does not actually matter. It's a space shooter underwater! Sadly, after just a few bosses this becomes a game of endless backtracking, since the entire game (!) plays out on one map. Finding your way through the maze to the next target is frustrating, because after twenty minutes of playtime you have seen everything, and yet are venturing through this same maze for another two hours. That the game only has two music tracks (normal and boss) does not help the lacking disparity either.
Boring 10/3
very fun sidescrolling sort of shot-em-up game, not really a platformer but maybe you could say that? All in all recommend
5/10
