Best story game i've ever played Best turn-based game i've ever played Genuinely a masterpiece and heavily recommend to play, only flaw was learning some of the mechanics but that's really all, games like these dont deserve to be a hidden gem. 9.5/10 would play again (and again and again...)
This one just is not for me. I don't like the "platforming" stile. It might be worthwhile a game for others, so I won't downvote.
Banging soundtrack, cool pixel art style, nice throwback combat system

What a great and lovely RPG! Everything in this game is charming and made with passion, with attention to details and really good writing both in the dramatic and humourous parts. The characters are the highlight, I just finished the game and I miss them already. The visuals are also great, the characters sprites and portraits are just perfect and there are also lots of good enemy designs. The battle system is surprisingly deep, there are TONS of skills, statuses, variables and playable characters. They are actually so many that the beginning of the game can be overwhelming. The only thing that imho could have been better was if the game had a more open structure, as it is very linear, you can freely explore the dungeon you're doing during the main plot, but there is no backtrack and almost no sidequests. There's still a lot of content though, especially for its price. Can't wait for Dyztopia 2!
Just started. Art is cool and dialogues are charming, but don't expect extensive platforming actions. It's still a turn-based RPG in its core.

The battle system of Dyztopia is polished and designed stylistically, functionable and readable. It's been updated from what the store screen shots depict, a good update I'd say it's a lot cleaner now. Selected the hardest difficulty, too easy for me still, that or defence is just that busted. Your score in boss battles improves for not using consumables, but I wouldn't say there's much incentive for a perfect score besides achievement hunting. For the core gameplay I found it enjoyable, the battle system is capable of interesting scenarios with a lot of varied RPG mechanics. The graphics I'd call the sticker pixel art style. The music has a few good tracks, others get old. There are some easy to spot graphical issues in the game, notably I was missing all the icons for any and all support magic. Revived enemies also were missing their sprites when they came back. There weren't any mechanical gameplay issues that I encountered what so ever. The story, this is where you're going to love it or hate it. The linguistical choices are painfully modern, such as the unironic use of words like boomer, in a world setting where humanity and its culture has all but ceased to exist. Dyztopia doesn't seem to care about immersing you in a deep narrative or world, NPCs constantly break the fourth wall (some characters recognize this and others don't). Dyztopia also falls into the trap of giving characters accents, again, disrespecting its own established world building. However, if you can manage to let yourself embrace the slop, accept that the accents are just there to quickly get across the societal stature of the character, the narrative may be just good enough to overlook the writing. I found that Dyztopia's story was strongest whenever it limited which characters were available to you.
ghey pixely turn based rpg fun :3. uhh...reading character stats/description before speccing highly reccomended, shame more people havent seen this game
It's good! There's some neat characters and writing and the combat has a lot of options and choices for how you want to play it. It focuses heavily on targeting enemy weaknesses, debuffs and ailments, though I found a lot of the stuff became almost irrelevant after recruiting a certain character
Runi, ESP Fire is insane and trivializes almost all combat
. I'll try again at some later point on hard and see how it plays out. The combat also technically has a lot of decisions to be made for how you spend mana and ability cooldowns since they don't refresh between fights, but that also became less relevant as I went on. By the end I barely cared and just blasted everything. The dungeons (stages) are alright, I got used to the grid based movement on a 2D plane quick. There's not much to say about them, you do some basic navigation, press some switches and beat up some lads. There's a lot of different monster designs and it's fun to see what sort of weirdo pops up next. The story struggles with pacing a bit, I feel like the group became a ride-or-die posse strangely fast, but it's not like they don't face hardships and struggles together. I don't know, I just had a weird vibe at times while playing. There's a decent amount of dialog and set up for beats but simultaneously it feels like it's going at a breakneck speed from scene to scene. Maybe I'll have a better grasp on it after ruminating for a bit and doing a second playthrough, seems like I missed a bunch of stuff as well. By the way Kiyotaka is a great example of how to do a "gamer nerd" kinda character well. Idk why she's so good in a fight but I like her character. I can't be arsed to type more. I like the game, the beginning feels a bit overwhelming with a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥ being thrown at you but otherwise it's a pretty nice and straightforward RPG with some good characters.
