About
Civilization is gone. The wasteland is all that’s left. In Dustwind, survival depends on quick thinking, smart tactics, and making the most of your character build.
LAST RESORT

You play a nameless heroine left for dead after a violent ambush. Fight your way towards revenge and rescue someone very important to you. Survival demands patience, tactics, and smart use of every weapon at your disposal. As a side effect, you end up founding a new stronghold of hope in the brutal wastelands. Not bad!
In this campaign, 16 missions and around 10 hours of gameplay await you.
TWO FRIENDS
A separate mini-campaign where you and Bob make your way toward the Last Resort camp. Expect unexpected obstacles, hard fights, and no easy roads. Buckle up and get moving.
Jump into multiple game modes: play solo, dominate co-op missions with your friends, or beat them in competitive modes. The apocalypse is better when shared!

Combat runs in real time, but you can pause at any moment to issue precise orders. Turn panic into strategy and chaos into control.
Dogs can throw grenades and lay mines, deploy turrets and barricades, drive vehicles, fire mounted guns, heal allies (bring your DOGtor!), repair equipment, and rip enemies apart. Wuff!

More gun = more fun

(I should note, this is reviewing the game as a single player campaign, which is not really the game's focus, but that's what I play games for.) look, there are things I like about this game. kicking people off edges, kicking people in the nuts and seeing "crippled groin!" pop up. dudes going flying from explosions and random moments like that which have given me some laughs. but..... like, as a game, as a challenge, as an experience, or work of art, it basically fails on every level, unfortunately. you get to explore wide and varied locations such as "east raider camp", "west raider camp", and "north raider camp", and a wide variety of enemies such as "melee raider", "ranged raider," and "heavy raider". there's no explanation of anything, there's no real characters or personalities or development of any kind. there's no lore, there's no history. nothing. a very ugly dated engine even for 2018 (which looks like the same engine as their brand new 2025 game LOL). the way everything moves and interacts feels very "off" and unsatisfying. it looks more like a game from the early 2000s than a game from 2018, besides the physics engine for ragdolling. the UI is pretty annoying, like the hotkey for get all, which should close the window as well.... or, even better, and actually a sensible idea, have a "get all" for everything on the ground nearby you, which would save you tons of time and frustration. there's seemingly no option to center the camera on the character besides with resetting the camera to default zoom and orientation, and no way to have the camera just follow the character. you cannot double click to auto-center the camera either, an innovation from the 90s that is absent in this 2018 game. it's needlessly fiddly to deal with the controls, and the character is pretty sluggish to respond to almost any action. you have to spend XP to level up "special" abilities to get things like "crouch quicker" and "get up quicker" instead of just making that the default??? which would make the game a more fluid and satisfying experience to begin with. seriously, what an absolutely terrible perk selection. it's like they looked at a list of fallout perks, removed almost everything that actually effects gameplay in a meaningful way, and absolutely everything that makes any big change to how your character is played, then made your character suck at everything.... and then you need special perks to stop sucking so much. you can, at any time, just go grind to max, cuz enemies seem to give you a ton of xp no matter how strong/weak they are. but, it's mostly not necessary, except for the absurd difficulty spike of the 2nd base defense mission. these missions are not fun at all, and make the engine cry from having too many enemies on screen. enemy AI is essentially non-existent and consists of "ignore you" or "all enemies in sight chase you in single file with no tactics or real AI". your AI helpers in base defense are so flippin braindead they will stand there while people next to them or turrets are being destroyed. drives me *nuts* how dumb they are. the "story" is absolutely laughable, it's so cliche and seemingly pretty poorly translated. basically every single line sounds off in some way, the overall flow of dialogue is amateur-hour stuff. I assume translation issues, but still. get an english person to proofread your script, I would think any native english speaker would be able to point out how stiff and awkward and unnatural the writing is (and, you know, incredibly cliche). after you do literally two missions and rescue two guys, buddy is already telling you how "you're becoming a leader to the people of the wasteland". yeah bro, we set up this camp earlier today, there's 3 people in it total including me; what a leader I am to "the people". it's like they just wanted to hit some cliche story ideas without building it up organically at all. in fact, this same line about how you're becoming a leader and how your character doesn't want to be this symbol of the wasteland, it comes up after almost every single mission, with the same dialogue over and over, or slight variations of it. don't get me started on the terrible vehicle controls. it's like, it should've just been tank controls, directly controlled with a controller or keyboard, but instead it's only mouse controlled, and it is comical how bad the AI chooses to drive to the locations you select. it's like they wanted to have a Commandos real-time tactical game, but didn't bother putting in a team. you're just solo, making the entire control scheme feel wildly out of place. if you're solo, WHY is the game controlled like this, like you're supposed to be controlling an entire team????? bizarre. and apparently the focus was on multiplayer, meaning you won't have a team to control in that either. I was very confused by this, but I've since checked out skirmish mode, and realize that's basically what they made the game for, and the campaign was more of an afterthought. the AI, UI, pathfinding, and general gameplay choices make the game a chore to play though, so I'm not interested in checking it out any further.
Great Fallout Tactics vibes that brings back the Classic Fallout feelings. All in one a good decent game that was clearly made with a lot of passion by people that really enjoyed the Classic isometric Fallout games. The Good: - amazing graphics, blending 3D with classic Fallout era isometric style graphics - tons of guns, each with its own interesting playstyle - great RPG stats that don't feel overwhelming yet gives you a good sense of progression - interesting missions, plenty of things to do inside missions with a lot of extra places to explore and loot beside the main mission quest - unique base defense missions where you can build barricades and turrets, place mines and even recruit mercenaries or arm friendly NPCs that will join the fight - a good feeling of progression that doesn't feel forced or dragged - vehicles! And you can drive them and shoot from inside them, Fallout Tactics style. - good sound and decent music/ambient score - I found just a few minor bugs with enemy pathfinding on some particular parts in a few maps, not a problem for the players as that may even be an advantage in a pinch. The not so Good (none of them that important, but I mentioned them anyway): - you cannot take the NPCs with you in missions. There are a few missions where they can join you after you rescue them, and they will fight side by side with you, but you cannot form a true team or help them level up and manage their stats as you can do in Fallout Tactics. So it's a mainly solo play throughout. - the Story is meh and it feels meh. Decent enough to get you trough the game but nothing to impress you to talk about with friends years later - it feels short, about 15-17 hours if you don't explore each corner of every map, maybe 25 hours if you do, the ending feels a bit rushed too - the multitude of trade items feels overwhelming, maybe a separate trader for armor and another for medicinal stuff would be nice, and on that point, more NPCs would also be nice, and each with their own stories and even missions/quests... - the vehicle driving take a bit to get used with - there is a sudden spike in difficulty towards the end, be prepared for it, save often and keep good weapons in the vehicle inventory together with plenty of ammo and some heavy armors, you will need them Conclusion: The game deserves a chance, especially if you love Classic Fallout games or tactical Isometric games or even games like Icewind Dale that focus on tactics and have a realtime/pause combat system. It may not be an epic RPG that will be remembered by an entire generation, but it will get you invested and it will deliver a good solid isometric/tactical combat experience. I hope the devs would make another game in the same universe with multiple units that will form a combat team, with a bit more RPG elements, multiple quests and storylines, a bit less mess in the base (fewer buildings, less enemy waves, less enemies attacking), and a better writing and storyline. Add some good voice acting (AI can do that on the cheap), a banger intro and multiple extra missions/campaigns that you can unlock as you play the main one and then play with your experienced team after you finish the main game, add more dialogue and tension, make cool looking companions and NPCs and you got yourself a banger.
A game in the style of Fallout Tactics with many options to traverse the rather linear campaign.
Good game, but feels little empty and flat, maybe coz im get feeling of not done backed product after few hours of gameplay. Same textures for different stuff. 5/10

Terrible lacking game performance with unnecessarily overcomplicated controls, which also don't work properly.
