I enjoyed my time with it. I would give it a 7/10. The game looks good, but its abit busy with smoke effects, glowy crystals everywhere, *magic*, etc. It does as advertised, its a PS2 game heavily inspired by kingdom hearts, though i cant say I see the ratchet and clank DNA besides maybe the rail grinding. I will say, distinctly its missing aerial combat like KH has. You have a launcher, at some point, yes, but it doesnt launch most enemies high enough and they sink like stones. in KH they feel much lighter, skyrocketing up, and hanging for maybe half a second before they do drop. Anyway, I never did use air combos in duskfade. Combat is serviceable, I see many people complain about it being rudimentary, but each stage does introduce new enemy types, and you do get steadily fed new spells and combos, but yes, fundamentally its *smack smack smack* dodge *smack smack smack*. enemies do work together and synergize though, I'll disagree with the consensus. Its just serviceable, I dont think the combat is bad. Allowing for more spells, and proper air combos would be how id fix it. You can't use spells as much as id like, the MP economy is very stingy. theres plenty of enemy variety, but not variety in player expression. The game looks good, story is okay, banter between zirian and cookoo are humorous enough, all the characters a likeable, and it keeps things moving in a way that makes sense and feels right. I like the alternate costumes. Soundtrack feels basic, nothing really stood out to me, I think I tuned it out at points. Every dungeon has a unique look, but the paths getting there tends to blend together. Completion is a little more trouble than its worth, as theres one pretty big design flaw, I think. an Issue with duskfades exploration is that youre teleported in the middle of the stage, and not the beginning of it. So when you check the map, youre told all the items you didnt find, but where one stage ends and where one begins i cant say I can actually tell. The stages are gigantic, and quite busy visually, far too many nooks. I really did try to 100% at least one area, but as thorough as I tried to be i gotta say....the secrets are definitely well hidden...Could use a treasure radar perhaps. There are bells that I thought did that, but they only show you the way forward. Im cool with duskfade, I liked my time with it. combat could be improved with better player expression, exploration could use some polish, and the soundtrack could do with more personality, but I think the platforming is good and combat is servicable.

It's a relaxing platformer with a story fit for its theme, the combat is alright, although I would recommend keeping the lock-on mode to a minimal as it may be somewhat flimsy going back and forth quite a bit, I suppose it's alright when there's only a single enemy up, but the game is really all about platforming and exploration, you can especially notice it when all the bosses also have some degree of platforming incorporated into them, it's a solid 7-7,5 out of 10 game. TLDR; Follows its theme, got exploration, music is good, combat is alright (outisde of lock-on mode), plenty of platforming, runs alright.
At first it was fun but at the part where you unlock rail grinding it gets messy and annoying also Windows defender blocks' this game form openings. No idea why apart from that it's a fine game with annoying things in it
I feel like I'm playing a PS2 game, highly recommended.
I wouldn't of found this game if it wasn't for randomly finding it on Twitter a couple years ago. This game is what it says to a T! Kingdom hearts inspired PS2 collect-a-thon platformer with a whole crap ton of charm, with the theme of the story being about time! It fills my nostalgia itch that needed scratching for a long time ever since completing Super Mario Odyssey a few years ago. Pros: Gameplay is extremely smooth, combat, movement, and traversal along with it. Really good story that people can actually relate and connect with the game. Characters really got the Kingdom Hearts look and feel to it and they're really solid as well. The graphics and are absolute EYE CANDY it really reminded me how colorful Astro Bot was when i got my ps5 for the first time, it was truly a nostalgic feeling. The soundtrack really has a really dreamy feeling to it i became infatuated as it was hard to take off and get away from my headphones, maybe it can be considered to be... a Dream Drop Distance? Cons: Gameplay really studders in certain areas, Camera jumps and spazzes when going to new areas (I use mouse and keyboard and hardly touch my mouse when in the loading zones) Jumps dont register correctly and become half jumps most of the time. No map of the area your currently in ( I get confused of where i am or where i need to go, i know i can ring the bells to tell me where to go but sometimes i get to places that im really lost in and end up in a dead end ) lastly theres no screen on where it tells me what collectables i missed, as the only way to tell is by going to the fast travel landmarks. ( Unless i somehow i missed something lemme know. ) This game's flaws are really minor but doesnt heavily affect my experience it truly a really good game and i hope the devs can take my some of my review into consideration for possible future updates or projects. 8.5/10 -By a guy who actually like games unlike IGN
Got to the boss Sadness. The camera was fighting me the entire platforming bubble segment and made the boss IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT. IF anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate it but this is ridiculous because I would change my review to a positive one if I had a camera I had FULL CONTROL OVER.
This is a fantastic call back to the old PS2 platformers that i grew up with. 11/10
