The best roguelite game I have ever played. Everything in this game feels amazing. This game has a lot of mechanics and every weapon feels great. The bosses are pretty easy once you memorize their patterns and what they do, as well as all other enemy types. This game has some really fun upgrades to use, some of which can just make you so overpowered. Every run feels fresh, honestly. Arena mode is great, too. It gets really challenging. The anvil also makes your weapons even better. The game is awesome. Highly recommend, I instantly fell in love with this. Runs great on low-end systems too! I'll go ahead and describe the weapons: Every weapon besides the default one is obtained my collecting pieces on pedestals. These pieces will have a mirror next to them. Weapons come in pairs of two called "armaments." Sword & Knife: Basic sword and a throwing knife. The default beginner weapon. Crossbow & Dagger: Ranged crossbow and close-range dagger. The crossbow has an AOE when you shoot it, like an explosion. When you shoot it, the further you are from the arrow, the longer it takes to recharge. The dagger is pretty self-explanatory. Tome & Wand: Basically a mage class. Your book has 3 orbs that recharge (can be 4 with upgrades from the anvil). You use the tome to shoot those orbs. The orbs also have an AOE, but it's not as large as the crossbow's. When you open your book, you'll see that it has 3 orbs: An orange, green, and blue one. Orange is fire, green is poison, and blue is lightning. Lightning is good for enemy swarms. You can also use your book to attack and push back enemies for a small amount of damage, which absorbs an orb as well. Flail & Bomb: The flail is a basic close-range melee weapon. It's a ball on a chain on a stick. If you smack the ball on the ground it'll have a little explosion effect. You can hold trigger on your controller to suck the ball in and make it more like a stick with a ball on it. The bomb part is where you take the end ball out and throw it as you would a grenade. This bomb can be remotely detonated by pressing the button you would use to put your weapon away (B button on Oculus controllers), or you can just wait for it to explode.
Ancient Dungeons is in my opinion, one of the most addictive VR games out right now. Endless gameplay isnt really something common in VR gaming currently (excluding racing and whatever), this game also has mod support so if you reaallly dont wanna play with the same upgrades you can just download more (beat the game first, trust me). If you are getting a VR then get this game, it goes on sale often
at first glance, it looks like a crappy vr game. then you actually play it. got this from humble bundle because i didnt want to spend 20 dollars for what i thought was 3d terraria. it scratches ALL of my itches for a vr game exept for the amount of weapons. please add workshop support. anyways, looking at the negative reviews its dumb stuff like "the weapons are too wobbly" yeah you gotta swing then like real swords because its a vr game with physics. duh. this games pretty damn good tho. its got co-op too. then i learned they are adding workshop support. this was going to be 9/10 but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 10/10 edit: also i might get dungeons of eternity because of the bundle lol
I haven't played much of this game yet but I have to say it is GOOD. I like to take breaks in the middle of dungeons in safe rooms to drink, read and recover - and then continue dungeon crawling. It really just satisfies that itch you have of adventure, finding new things.
ABSOLUTE CINEMA! ITS SO GOOD THAT I WONT BOTHER FIXING ANT SPELLING ERRORS I MAKE BECAUSE I NEED TO POST THIS REVIEW ASAP, THAT MEANS QIGBWEUILHA
just doesn't feel fun to play cause how floppy the weapons are.
bravo to the devs!
This is filling the void that Rec Room quests are leaving behind for me rn. Co-op is amazing to have for this
Honestly I enjoy this game, it's quite interesting with the more unique pixel art style but in vr, but , I do not like how the gtag movement for me is kinda bad, (it might be bad tracking because I am using a Meta Quest and linking it to my pc with Virtual Desktop) as my hands constantly clip through the ground and then I get launched in a direction the next second, it could also be because not used to the movement as I have NOT played gtag. Personally, I'd like it if the smooth locomotion gets a touch up, like having running from Blade and Sorcery then having jump distance be linked to how fast you go, allowing for you to jump over gaps and more. Overall, the game is quite good and I'd like to see more things expand, such as customization and maybe more weapons.
Fun Rogue like Dungeon crawler with a great progression game and its easy to start. And I have had no issue's running it with multiplayer.
