Really more of a neutral recommendation. It's an early Kairosoft game, so it's on the simple side. You build your town, and adventurers visit, move in, and autonomously go fight monsters. You also trigger quests & events for them, though events are just a cute image and stat gain. Positives are lots of Kairosoft charm with cute sprites/animations, fun pun-heavy adventurer names and so on. It's a relaxing game you could use to wind down or to play alongside watching videos or something. There's some light strategy to how you layout your town, there was a brief period where I was struggling to increase my profit but aside from that, the difficulty was low. Negatives, the balance is really bad, there are a lot of redundant buildings, and the class bonuses seem to get really lazy like they couldn't think of or program any more interesting mastery bonuses. The building levelling system is bad, as if you used many consumable items on a building that can make levelling it do nothing since both levelling and giving it items just increase the same 3 stats that have caps per building. Also I completely ran out of content by about year 13 and just had to wait for the 'story' to end to get the last achievements in year 16, but that might not be a common issue based on the achievement %s. It's a 5/10, but a decent, charming & relaxing 5/10

Since I was a child, I've always loved Kairosoft games, though back then I played pirated versions on my phone. Now that I finally have time to play, I took advantage of this anniversary sale and purchased the first and second bundles of the Kairosoft collection. It's not that I don't like the third and fourth bundles, or that they aren't good enough—it's simply that I'm still a student and not financially independent, so I could only buy as many as I could afford, in the order they were released. I plan to complete them one by one according to my own preference, and write some simple reviews for fellow Kairosoft fans. As the first title in the second bundle, Adventure Town Story has a fairly straightforward premise: you play as the mayor of an adventure town, managing the village with the goal of raising its star rating and popularity, and attracting more adventurers to settle there. The core gameplay involves constructing buildings to stimulate spending, hosting events to boost adventurers' stats and the town's popularity, completing quests to obtain treasures, and defeating dragons to gradually gain the kingdom's recognition and raise your star rating. A character's stats come from their class, level, equipped gear, and bonuses gained from events you hold or from spending at buildings around town. The inn is the main place where adventurers rest and recover their combat strength, so early on it's a good idea to either raise its prices as much as possible or block the entrance to encourage spending. Adventurers generally have a hard time upgrading their equipment on their own—they mainly rely on the mayor (that is, you) to give them better gear. For this reason, I don't recommend placing weapon shops or armor shops too close to the town center. Instead, we should focus on raising shop prices and quality to boost consumption, then use the proceeds to buy items that upgrade buildings or magical tools. The entire gameplay loop unlocks in about three hours, and after that, much of the process feels similar. If you're going for achievements, this title is relatively straightforward. The first easy achievement is building your own residence, which triggers when any character's satisfaction reaches the required level. The second is completing two expansions, which simply requires raising your town's star rating to unlock expansion quests. The third is having many adventurers visit—just follow the natural progression of the game, and it will trigger once your popularity hits the required threshold. The fourth is managing the town for many years, which is usually completed around April of Year 16, when the first playthrough concludes. The fifth is establishing the castle, which is a gift from Princess Lily when she settles in your town—once your popularity is high enough, give her gifts to raise her satisfaction. As a side note, Princess Lily is the last adventurer to arrive after raising popularity; any further popularity gains after that serve no real purpose. The sixth achievement is Kairo Mastery, unlocked when your town reaches five stars, allowing adventurers to change class to Kairo-kun or Kairo-hime—though it seems that Kairo-hime does not trigger this achievement. The above is my experience after playing Adventure Town Story. I hope it can be of some help to everyone, and please feel free to point out anything I missed. I also hope Kairosoft will continue to thrive and offer more discounted bundles so I can keep supporting them. Thank you all very much for reading!
