Reviews
Dungeon Alchemist is, in my experience, an exceptional tool. It improves steadily with each update, and the development direction is clear. New features are not superficial. They expand real use cases and solve practical problems for map creators. One of the strongest aspects is support for custom assets. This matters. When I have a specific idea and the official library falls short, I can extend it instead of abandoning the concept. The community around custom assets also deserves recognition. The quality is consistently high, and it meaningfully increases what the software can do. I hope this ecosystem continues to grow. The built-in map library is another major advantage. I do not always want to start from scratch. Sometimes I need inspiration or a quick base. Being able to browse, pick a map, and then modify it to fit a specific setting saves time and effort. Editing existing maps is smooth enough to make iteration practical, not frustrating. From a Game Master perspective, the tool is very effective. Creating battle maps is fast. Creating atmospheric maps is even faster. The ability to generate a scene and then capture it in 3D for immersion adds real value. It improves presentation at the table and supports storytelling without requiring additional tools. That said, there are limitations. The room system feels rigid. Working with walls can be unnecessarily restrictive. A more flexible approach, similar to systems like The Sims 4, would significantly improve usability. Moving walls, resizing rooms dynamically, and having attached objects follow those changes would reduce friction and speed up design. Another issue is the lack of custom brushes. At the moment, placing multiple objects requires repetitive manual work. There is no efficient way to group, copy, and reuse small compositions. This becomes tedious over time. A system for creating custom brushes, even temporary ones, would solve this. The ability to share brushes between users would push this even further and strengthen the community. There is also a missing layer in terms of scale. Dungeon Alchemist focuses on local maps: interiors, battle maps, small environments. It does this well. However, there is no real support for world maps. Expanding into this area would unlock significant potential. More control over textures, blending, brightness, and especially the option to import custom textures would allow users to build cohesive worlds, not just isolated scenes. Right now, creating that larger context requires external apps. That means additional cost and a fragmented workflow. Dungeon Alchemist is already a powerful application. It is reliable, improving, and genuinely useful in active game mastering. With more flexibility in building systems, support for reusable object groups, and expansion into world-scale design, it could become a complete environment creation platform rather than just a map generator.

Fast and easy maps work with Foundry VTT. Hoping it continues to expand the AI portion to be more than fantasy.
I wish there was an okay button. Its right there on being an amazing asset but it just falls short. Lets you create the map and quickly but doesnt have features to just play in the app itself. Goes in first person and thats it. no ability to host a game and have the players have a fog of war or anything. its like all these dnd apps out here. just shy of being perfect. You can export the map you make and it is fast to make but the only way I found how to play with fog of war and a 3d map is by paying another 50 bucks for another app called Foundry to export the map you make here. So it just feels incomplete. sorry for the negative review but its just how it is.
I really like it - the procedural generation is great, the asset library is immense and the usage is as easy and intuitive as it gets. But I have to give a thumbs up because of two things: 1) It crashes. After about an hour or two it crashes. No CPU or GPU usage or temperature indication anymore, the tool just freezes. There are also things that are simply impossible to do like click on the eye symbol on a creature. I do not kow what the button does other than crash the software - that's sad. 2) Autosave does not work. I have autosave set to five minutes and it doesn't do anything. That combined with the frequent crashes means I have to repetitively re-create work when I failed to hit save every couple minutes. It's just frustrating.
I've used a myriad of Map making engines and software from Inkarnate, Multiverse Designer, Chronos Builder, In-game screenshots and Unreal engine itself to make maps. I saw this on sale and decided to try it out, it had the same vibes as Chronos Builder that came out a few years back. Weirdly, it's much more clunky, the autogeneration is just as terrible too as the Chronos button was and requires a lot of manual manipulation to get assets correct. I suppose one the saving graces is the asset collection and map sharing content. I browsed around and saw a lot of effort placed into maps and assets that are shareable and uploadable. Another saving grace is the exporting allows for higher resolution and map sizes for Foundry VTT than Chronos Builder did. The ability to upload assets was interesting as well, I haven't uploaded anything as of yet as my assets aren't my own (procured from unreal free market or blender). So that's something to keep in mind for future updates in reviews. Overall, for Fantasy TTRPGs this will fit well. For Cyberpunk RED or Lancer this is lacking tremendously as assets aren't all there yet. So as usual, in-game screenshots with a mix of Inkarnate and Unreal engine and Multiverse Designer will be my go to for Cyberpunk. I will continue to use this as it gets updated on occasion and I will update my review accordingly. It is clunky and requires a lot of editing/erasing. There needs to be a clear option to allow users to just edit blank rooms and insert their own ideas into the maps instead.
This is a fantastic aid for creating dungeons, buildings, and environments for TTRPGs. I normally wouldn't rate an Early Access product as I've been burned several times, but this one is being updated regularly, and is already a great product. I can't wait to see what else they do to make it even better.
Whooooaaaa this is awesome. I was a big user of Talespire before this, but Dungeon Alchemist boasts the same options Talespire has, AND MORE. There's so many things I can do that I wasn't able to do with my last VTT, and this opens up the door for so many creative oppurtunities. Plus, the amount of PROP VARIETY is INSANE. 10/10 people; get this if you wannna get DEEP.
Wouldnt recommend Still so backwards, diagonal walls are still a mission let alone actually editing room shapes properly, program been out since 2022 and basic shape modeling is still lack luster. Was a kickstarter and deeply regret it, save your money, try Inkarnate or even a free program as map layouts if not BASIC, and i mean basic, the program has a borderline stroke and can not comprehend it.
