Drunk Wizards

I can't attest to the quality of the game, only that it seems to be well and truly dead. That 0.5 hours is me sitting in a menu just to tell you that. There are no servers, and to make your own and even browse the levels you need at least two people. Save your $7.99 USD for something else, because it'll just be thrown away here.

Going back through my backlog. I can't remember how I ended up with a copy of this... a bundle, perhaps? It looks like it could be fun but I was unable to get into any games. It's multiplayer only and doesn't have players at the moment. So unless you're willing to gift copies to several friends so you can all play together, not worth it right now :(

First things out of the way. The game developer is terrible for giving away free keys and then revoking them. Also, Steam is terrible for using their new review filtering system to keep this game from having "Overwhelmingly Negative" plastered on it's store page. Now as for the game, it's an abandon ware, multiplayer only, indie game. Although the graphics aren't bad and it does seem like the developer had an idea of what he wanted it to be at some point in development it is clear to anyone that spends more than 10 minutes playing this that Drunk Wizards is an early access title that needed years of development to get anywhere near the quality or charm of any other indie game that has succeeded in the multiplayer only space. What you get when you buy this is a game that was abandoned long before it was finished that cannot be played except with multiple people and a game where the developer has shown a pure disregard for those who actually took a chance and tried his game. Every single one of the negative reviews you see on the store page that are being disregarded by Steam's algorithm because they are complaining about revoked keys would have been negative regardless. Avoid this turd.

I won this game from a 10,000 key giveaway on SteamGifts. I suspected that it might've been the developer's way of trying to get a hold of players at all to play their game. I've forgotten about all of this for a year and a half before finally just getting around to redeeming the key. I was hoping to come across at least a small pocket of players remaining, but it appears that the 10,000 key attempt was in vain. Because, there's absolutely nobody playing this game at all. I do like the idea of a arena shooter involving wizards and mages. It'd spice things up than your typical shooter aspect we've all come to know. However, I wouldn't know what the developers are trying to get it by combining arena shooting with party gameplay? I don't know if that'd work. The idea of having 4 players going at it at a time, seems rather lackluster and underwhelming. There's only a few spells that you can count on your finger to have. I'm starting to see why, if not just for the reviews, why this game might've not taken off very well. Again, sounded like everything was in vain. Oh well. Don't touch this title because you will find absolutely no one to play with. If 10,000 keys distributed can't rope people interested enough to play. Then it might not do it for you either.
