About
Drop Dead: The Cabin is a multiplayer (1-4 player) survival horror FPS that throws you and a friend into a pulse-pounding, 1980s-inspired nightmare. Developed by Soul Assembly, this PC & VR-compatible shooter blends co-op action, roguelike replayability, and a retro horror aesthetic into a brutal fight for survival.
Lost in the woods, you stumble across a seemingly abandoned cabin. But this is no ordinary hideout. It was once home to the twisted scientist Dr. Monday, whose experiments have unleashed a deadly horde of undead abominations. Now, the forest is crawling with monstrosities, and the only thing standing between you and certain death is your skill, your weapons, and your ability to work as a team.
Fight to keep the power running, the lights on, and the comms active. Let the systems fail, and the undead become faster, deadlier, and harder to see. Every decision matters. In solo or online co-op, teamwork is key. Stay together or split up to complete critical survival objectives. Use the environment to your advantage and fight with precision to survive the night.
Playable in both PC and on VR headsets, Drop Dead: The Cabin brings intense action to every player. Inspired by classic horror films and series like Stranger Things, it blends fast-paced wave shooting with immersive storytelling and endlessly replayable combat.
Do you have what it takes to escape the cabin... or will you join Monday's monstrosities?

Neat little game, does not deserve all the negativity
Don't listen to the cry babies. Its fine.
This is a great game and the VR implementation is much more then just a gimmick. ignore the negative Reviews, almost all of them are from launch day when the tutorial was missing. Which has since been fixed and added. Also the game has fun re-playability where leveling up not just your player level but each weapon's level adds a lot to your next run. and i only ever got to play alone and i had a blast. I can only imagine how this game must be super fun with 1-3 friends. Don't forget this game is both desktop AND VR friendly with cross play allowing your non-VR friends to play along side you too.
A Fun Zombie Wave Shooter with Progression But Shallow In Content
This game is actually quite decent. The shooting feels good, the gameplay is decent, and the difficulty is just right, for a co-op experience. Its just too bad that the game released with quite a few bugs and some-what lack of content. I played this game on release and I remember the game had quite a few nasty bugs, guns felt terrible in VR (could not dual hold them) and I had progression bugs that were game-breaking. Now, after patches, the game plays solid. Shooting feels good and the difficulty is fair. Player Progression There is a bit of character progression. Each run you do, you earn experience points which unlock perks. Some perks include the ability to hold more ammo in your reserve, sprinting for longer, and more health. Which will immensely help in tackling higher difficulties. Stamina System One problem I do have with the game is the character is slow. The stamina system is odd, to say the least. In VR, if you activate sprint, the player's stamina would run out in a second or two. Sometimes it would run out immediately. Then there is a cooldown period of a few seconds to recharge the stamina. Other than hearing the players breath, I was not able to find an actual meter on my wrist watch to see how much stamina I have. Sometimes I would want to just run a bit, but conserve the rest of my stamina, but it does not seem that you can do that in this game. If you activate sprinting, it will use all the stamina. However, this system plays different in flat though. In flat, it works fine, you are able to conserve stamina and there is a visible meter. So, this seems to be a bug with the VR version. Game Content Is A Bit Bare The amount of content in this game, from what I have discovered, is kind of bare. Yes, the game does feel good. The game has a solid core to it, but the amount of content (especially for the asking price of $18) I feel is just not enough. There is only one map. Granted, the map is decently large with more than one path/ending, but I don't feel that is enough to keep players engaged over time. This is the type of game once you complete, there really is no point in playing again other than getting more perks for your character. I feel the devs need to add more to this game, which I hope they do have planned. I feel this game would definitely benefit from in-game events. A few examples include: Environment events like a storm or fog that decreases visibility, a big boss fight, enemies with special abilities spawning from time-to-time, more weapon variety, etc. It definitely needs more RND in its level and game design than just randomizing the loot chests and randomly choosing which one large door you can proceed through on startup. It also needs more maps, one cabin just does not suffice for the asking price. Bottom line, this game needs more things to keep players engaged longer than an hour. Overall If you do find this game on a sale, and you enjoy a good zombie shooter in VR, definitely give this game a go. See if it clicks with you.
I like the idea of the game, different mechanics to other FPS zombies. But find it hard to know where to go or how to get better weapons and I run out of ammo so quickly. I don't think it is worth how much you spend on it either as there is definitely not a lot of progression to make up for it. I would say would do with a few various maps relating to cabins as well, so people don't get bored of the same thing.
I really enjoyed playing Cabin on the Meta Quest, its good to see it make the transition to Steam VR, now we just need cross play added :D
this game crashed so many times before i loaded into one of the worst games I've experienced. It runs bad, it has no control of camera movement speed options, awful. don't play this.
This game feels like a classic arcade pew pew shoot em up zombie hoard experience, and it would have been fine had they advertised as such. However, there are so many missing details and basic instructions that make this game feel unfinished. While I played solo, I can see the potential in this game being fun with friends and keeping up with all of the mechanics like generator, fuel, power, and such, but those details are not described in the level. I felt like I was just running around unlocking doors while keeping up with the hoards each time before I realized what exactly I was supposed to be doing. Little voicelines like "oh it's so dark in here" do not cut it while you're being chased by zombies and trying to figure out basic mechanics of the game. A tutorial would be useful at the beginning among other accessibility options--don't say we can play this game without VR but not have basic options like turning off the swaying/head bob mechanic or lacking a jumping or climbing mechanic. The settings lack keybinds/controller and sensitivity settings as well. This game feels very unfinished (possibly rushed in for Halloween?), and you can get more immersive modes like this for free in Fortnite that won't cost you almost 20 dollars. I'm happy to see there is indeed a roadmap for this game, and while I enjoy the aesthetics overall of this game, I won't be returning to it until I see better development/updates.
I will say, it definitely needs some explanation on how to play the game. Overall, I enjoyed it. Played with a friend and you can tell it was made for vr and I do wish some of the menu was a bit more friendly and had easier access in lobies to adjust voices before you load into the game. Overall, had a blast. ALSO, does anyone know how to pick up the grenades because we couldnt pick them up
At the time of playing, my friend and I ran into some technical bugs at random. However, I believe that when the glitches are patched, the game will be a lot of fun. We specifically ran into a glitch where we would not be able to switch, drop, or add new weapons into our inventory. We replicated the glitch with controller, keyboard, and took turns hosting games. When the game worked as intended, the aiming mechanics were smooth, and the visuals were pretty cool. There's a lot effort placed into this game, my friend and I had fun with the limited time we were able to play, and will be trying it again in the future. I will update this review then. I'm recommending this game based on it's potential. It needs a little time to be debugged, but I'd like to replay it when the issues are sorted out.
