Great game, while im confused why every game that is good, has to remove features from some games of the same series that are more..."bad" such as NO OUTFIT OR COSMETIC CHANGES? WTF? that being said, this game has so much content its crazy ridiculous. Theirs also a daily quest feature, so even if you beat the game you can come back and still have something to do even if you theoretically 100% everything. That being said, its like DQ monsters, except...open world, and with treasure. Its a creature collector and pirate simulation all in one, basically. Out of all the DQ games this one is probably my favorite so far, with DQ monsters coming in second. ive played a few of the JRPG DQ games and while not bad, just werent for me. This spinoff in particular for some reason tends to get a lot of bad rep, yet pushes some of the most content for a DQ spinoff. I think the biggest factor or hate that DQ tends to get is that everything is repetitive, that being said, this game has base building and a treasure room that lets you display your favorite treasures you come across, and a lot of monsters to collect each with different abilities and skill sets / colors. Story is OK, not good, not bad, as usually for DQ games, but you will definitely want to buy it for the gameplay purpose rather then a top tier story experience.
I just finished the game as I write this, oh the memories! Have you ever played an RPG game and collected every item you saw but never ended up using them because, "you never know, I might need it later" Then you end up finishing the game with way too many unused items? This game is basically that. The fighting isn't amazing, it's just enough to keep you awake, but the feeling of collecting shiny things and watching a number grow bigger is very satisfying and relaxing. This is a game for everyone, but for fans of the Dragon Quest franchise it's even better. Anytime I would go back to the base with treasures and reveal them, I would do that one pointing wojak meme: "I know that thing!" The monster vision to find treasures is such a fun idea. Get a bird and you'll have a view from above, great! Get a knight and you'll hardly see through his helmet, but you have a strong monster! I mean, finding treasures is very easy so it's never really an issue, but man, is that creative. The only negative thing I want to say though is that everything feels sooo slow. I mean, it is common in this franchise, but this game is making sure you get your 15-20 hours of gameplay. Every pickup is so slow! And one funny note: at the start of the game you get this tutorial about fighting other treasure hunters, where it teaches you that you can either take down all the enemy monsters or directly attack the flag and win. That being said, after this tutorial, you get one fight like that and never again did I see that game mode. Didn't like it nor dislike it, just thought it was funny to have this mode and never use it. I wonder if there was a PvP mode in mind when making it, but I doubt it. anyway, very good, I recommend if you like to collect things, monsters and items
Some of the best exploration of any game. All your monsters have their own exploration ability. If you have ANY attachment to Dragon Quest 11... tiny Erik and the exploration carry the game. Its a 7 or 8 in everything it does. But hidden stuff everywhere, and the means to get it by collecting monsters is a 10. Also has good vertical exploration and scale. Beat it on Switch, this is a MASSIVE step up performance and graphics obviously.
Recommending this solely on the fact that there is a party member available who is one of the killer samurai robots voiced by Pekora from Hololive. It constantly spouts off her greeting and other catch phrases, and also makes little weird Pekora noises. There is also a special party member that is voiced by Yuji Hori, the series creator. It says things in both Japanese and English, like "It's me, Mr. Hori," and "Welcome to my world."

Long time DQ fan and player. This one changes it up a bit and goes into the backstory of Eric form The Elusive Age. You do have to read a bit, but then again I guess this helps develop literacy. lol. Runs smooth with no crashing or graphics issues. Thumbs up!
