-The combat ranges from damn boring to plain annoying, with enemies abusing mechanics like hyper armor, stunlocking and general spamming. The 'skill ceiling' in this game is using the ki barrier to ignore basically any attack, then spam the autocombo or your strongest move. Tracking is weird, camera is weird, the ki blast button is useless and transformations draining your ki as fast as they do in the beginning is damn annoying. -Exploration is BAD. Only means of transportation that matters is flying, obviously. The controls are actually pretty good when you get used to them, but they're counter-intuitive. And the world is filled with fishing that's as simplistic and boring as it gets, racing that follows suit, stupid purple items to pick up all over the damn place and rocks to shoot at. And that's omitting all the other nonsensical stuff that isn't really any fun, just wastes your time for a bit. -The floating ki spheres are an insult to the game itself, being both useless and filling the pretty world with visual clutter. They're horrible, I hate them more than anything I've seen in a game in the last year. They killed my family and ate my lunch. -The main story's pacing isn't half bad, but it has moments where it randomly speeds up too much, sklpping over big moments, and moments where it meanders for wayyy too long. -The substories are just unfun and uninteresting about 95% of the time. A few cute character moments and gags swallowed by a sea of ming boggling fetch quests and beating up generic robots. -The progression system is kind of a hassle, requiring unfun levels of grinding just to pad out game time. The level scaling is also pretty horrendous and if you do any amounts of side content, you WILL end up overleveled to oblivion and unable to enjoy the fights properly. So you either only do the main quest at the right difficulty or do all the content, but whoop frieza's bum self before he even finishes monologuing. -The dlcs are just generally bad value. They're good value now because of big discounts, but at release? Hell no. Average time to beat one while doing side content is like 5 hours at best. And you were supposed to pull out 15 bucks for each. And even then, that's accounting for the extra stupid padding added by resetting your characters every time and making you unlock moves you already had in the base game or in other dlcs (looking at you Daima and End of Z). All in all, game is pretty damn mid. As a JRPG, it's on the lower tier of things, most systems are surface level. And as a Dragon Ball game, the combat has to be one of the worst systems they've ever pumped out. Still recommend if you're a fan, or if you're trying to become one. It's a complete experience in a lot of ways that are hard to quanitify unless you're big on the franchise, but it IS the game a lot of people dreamt of as kids. Even if it's a flawed mess that kinda pisses you off.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 7.71/day in the week to Jul 23 → 7/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

it can run very smoothly even in low specs and on top of that the HD part of dbz kakarot is if not best one of the best 3d fighting game made ever.
its a fun, low thought process game. it tells the story in a good detailed way and opens the player to the world of Dragon ball. If your a fan of the series or just getting into it. this is a good place to start and get more details on the lore!

9/10 if you're a Dragon Ball fan, 6.5/10 if you're not.
Goods: Probably the best PvE open world Story experience from Dragon Ball Z ever made. even tho, it's missing a lot of content from dragon ball z(jokes and fun bits) or content from dragon ball and dragon ball super. it has all the right ingredients to introduce somebody new to dragon ball z. the combat feels smooth, the freedom of flying around feels nice, the fishing is fun, the abilities to revisit older chapters and the replayability is half there. you have some grind to gain new abilities and its staying mostly true to lore of dragon ball z, even tho i will include this in cons as well. over 6 years of support for new dlc's and free HD version is incredible, i wish all dev studios would do this to anime IP's Cons: This is more a con for somebody who has watched/played the dragon ball z storyline over 10 times, I am always sad when they don't explore alternate reality more. For example, the story always follows Goku, but how crazy would it be if you had the option to follow other Z characters and change their destiny? like lets say you chose Krillin and you were able to be the hero of the story with him instead, you can add a way for him to be as strong as Saiyan's somehow and avoid his deaths and you could create a new perspective from his point of view where he had to deal with all the enemy's himself, from the 23rd world tournament all the way to the Tournament of Power (multi-universe battle royale) now lets say you expand on this and you are able to choose a bad guy too? example Frieza showing an alternate reality of his perspective to conquer the universe starting from destroying planet vegeta, dealing with goku one day then -> cell -> buu -> Tournament of Power etc.. personally i would love to have the original Goku storyline, but on top, a bunch of other character's alternate reality, good guys or bad guys, now imagine if dragon ball z kakarot 2 was like this with the same open world and everything. lol i would pay double to get this game. the other cons i have noticed is the grind can become very repetitive if your trying to max your stats and unlock all abilities. they could of figured out better ways to do this, they literally have a world tournament in the story. They could build on this tournament to be replayable and fun with random enemies and brackets, learn new abilities from your opponents, earn experience etc. bring that back to the main story's to use. How fun would it be seeing goku using final flash like come on, we need a bit more alternate reality for veterans of the story. Verdict: all in all this game is 8/10 for me
