Overall, it's a solid game—a 7.5/10 for me. 102.7 hours played to complete my first playthrough. Maybe my expectations were really low for this game since I'm just playing it now. I know the valid critiques about the mechanics of the game, the story, and a lot of bigotry from people regarding Tash being NB. Despite all this, as a fan of the Dragon Age franchise with Origins being my favorite by far there was no way public opinion would make me not play this game. So, to keep this short, if you really love the Dragon Age games, this one is going to be disappointing on the mechanics. However, this has been the case since DA2. Inquisition was an improvement and gave us hope it would get better, but here we are. For an RPG gamer like myself, this is not the type or style of gameplay I enjoy the most. With that said, it's still a video game and a solid RPG. The battles can get repetitive, but it did not feel boring to me since the game does a good job pacing missions that are just conversations with missions that have more combat. Also, the missions or levels are not very long, so it's not tedious. There is no grinding for levels in this game, so that helps a lot, and your level progresses alongside the missions you complete. I played on Underdog difficulty because I like to exhaust most of the content for all the games I play, and that can cause you to become overleveled and too OP. Early and mid-game was a challenge, especially because I was playing as a mage, enemy aggression is very high, and they always gun for your character if you are in range. Luckily, I specialized as a control mage, and by the late game, I was just freezing enemies to death. The story was really good in my opinion. That is something games that are not open-world are better at, since you do not get sidetracked exploring as often. Despite this, the cities are big, especially Treviso, Arlathan, and Minrathous. There were not a lot of side quests as well, which is good for a game like this, and most side quests are related to the main story. The Elven gods and Solas were compelling villains, and they get introduced to you early on in the game, along with the destruction they can cause. The companions were a good surprise. At the beginning, I was not attached, but by the end of it, Bellara, Neve, Emmrich, and Harding were among my favorites, which I didn't expect. Especially the sisterhood between Bellara and Neve—that was beautiful to experience and felt natural since I used both together to form a group of three control mages that enemies were not able to touch by the late game. I used them all, though, each time I was in their cities and doing missions with their respective factions. This way, you get more dialogue. I made sure to mix up the pairings to see how they would interact during missions, and took the time to visit the Lighthouse often to hear their conversations. The final mission was really good. This is something this game did really well, and honestly, it's the last impression you get, so I guess the good reviews are from people who actually finished the game. I hope Dragon Age does not die after this, not selling well. The criticism is valid, and I agree this does not feel like an authentic Dragon Age game, but for me, neither was DA2, and we got Inquisition which was better (not better than Origins, though). At this point, I do not expect huge changes, but I hope the recent success of classical RPG games with a twist like BG3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 shows the suits that real-time fighting, diluted skill management, and simplified equipment management may not be a recipe for success nowadays. Casual gamers are not going to play the next Dragon Age; the real fans who have loved this world since Origins are the ones who can make this franchise a success again. So, here's to hoping, since I feel where the story ended here leaves them with a lot of opportunities to get creative.
买了玩不了。。。过了时间太久又不能退,哭死。
While I understand why this game faced so much backlash, the actual gameplay experience is incredibly streamlined and enjoyable. I am really liking it so far. The voice acting is well done, the graphics look good and overall, it’s just a very fun game.
I would recommend this game if you are in the mood for a fantasy RPG with some eye catching graphics and wanting to design a really cool looking character. I am a die hard DA fan and have played all of the games but held off on this one for about a year and a bit. I was skeptical espesially after seeing some woke nonsense on the socials. Buuuuut I buckled after being bored at work and installing the character creator and after finishing my badass looking elf I knew I had to see her in game. Luckily the game was on sale at that stage and I went for it. I am having lots of fun, if you keep your old school DA exceptations a little lower. So in summary, do play it is you love the world, lore and characters, but get it on sale.
I know that this is not very popular game, but I truly enjoyed. It answered many questions about lore, and it was nice to see characters from the book Tevinter nights. I adored it. I also liked companions much more. For example, I never liked Sera or Vivienne in Inquisitor, but in this, no one annoyed me. Their personal quests were fun. I also do like fighting much more, it's quicker and smoother, and exploring maps is much more interesting than before. In previous games I hated never-ending maps with my lame horse, these were nice and compact. I have very little problems with Veilguard, just few nitpicking only. Like I think Fenris and Zevran should be here, one is Antivan Crow and other one is fighting against slavery in Tevinter. But like I said, just small things. It's a shame that we can't load this all in Keep though.
So far im enjoying. Will keep update
Glad i didn't listen to all the opinions around this game and just tried it. Absolutely amazing !!!
Classic 10/10 bioware RPG.
combat feels a little slow at first, but you get used to it. i like it.
