Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

One of the best CRPG's I've ever played. Recommended, IF you are WILLING to mod the game. I Highly recommend this game to people who are new to the CRPG community, or for people venturing into different game genres. DAO is a highly-engaging experience with little to no dull moments; although the combat may be tedious and boring at first—you'll soon find yourself at ease once you get the hang of it. The story is one of the best I've witnessed, with Lore that will get you intrigued, or the story that will immerse yourself within this world. The worldbuilding is basically one of the main reasons I got so eager to keep on playing, as It's fantasy-like worldbuilding set the stage on how the world of Thedas works. The characters? Boy you will be certain to grow found of them, as these companions are truly memorable: whether it be the playful banter with eachother, or the witty remarks; there truly is not a single piece of "filler" dialogue. I know it sounds like I'm glazing the game, but It's true! Dragon Age: Origins game has such a variety of playstyles and origins that you can start off with and branch off of. You want to be a Axe-Swinging Human? You can. You want to be a discrimated elf? You can. It's RPG-like elements can get you feeling as if you're the 'Grey Warden' you have created. Dragon Age: Origins is known to harbor to various game-breaking bugs and issues; and is highly recommended to Mod the game, as the vanilla version—simply won't suffice. I recognize that Dragon Age: Origins is a great game with an awesome story and fantastic characters. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well. While the graphics were good for their time and are still acceptable, the game has significant technical flaws that are noticeable today. It plays poorly out of the box and frequently crashes unless you manually apply the community 4GB patch. Using Qwinn's Ultimate DAO Fixpack is practically mandatory for a bug-free experience.Beyond the technical hurdles, the dungeon design feels generic today and is filled with excessive combat. I often skipped rooms just to reach the next story segment. The balance also feels uneven; most fights are easy, except for encounters with enemy sorcerers, who are extremely strong if you don't pay close attention. After 36 hours of playtime, I gave the game a fair chance, but ultimately, the flaws outweighed the merits for me. At its core, it remains a very good game, but its age is showing.

works fine on my 2025 system - to get the DLC you need to download a 320kb file and click to exe in the dragon age folder - if you can install steam you can do this too - controller support via steam input - to use xbox controller you got to right click the game in your libray go to controller and active steam input - I dont know, why players review bombing this game - but it works really good AND NO EA APP / ORIGIN

Still great after all these years. Had to fix the .exe using the nexus mods so that it wouldn't keep crashing. But after the fix it works as intended.
