SUMMARY
The epitome of a dull and lifeless game. So the story is, you're an orphan who becomes some sort of nature-boy. I can only assume the ending is you confronting your father, who abandoned you as the final boss, but I'm just guessing at this point, as it didn't hold my attention long enough for me to find out. It's a double-jumping platform shooter. You collect meaningless little acorns and free animals to get health. Enemies block your way, repeating the same predictable pattern endlessly, until you shoot them and they turn into a puff of leaves. Enemies seem to be scattered haphazardly throughout the environment, having very little rhyme or reason to their placement, and the platforming itself feels jumbled, as if they didn't know where they were going with their designs. It makes progression feel awkward and mismatched. I will give this game the praise of having some pretty good looking animation at least. Enemies and bosses are fluid and have visually interesting movement. The platforming is fine, but it does nothing to incentivize you to learn it. It gives you 3 health with a very generous amount of post-hit invulnerability, and you can fire as fast as you can press the button, which ultimately makes bosses and enemies pushovers. There are limited continues, which makes you start the whole level over, since it tracks the levels you've beaten, which can be quite a few minutes long, so there is some modicum of risk at stake. That doesn't keep it from being very joyless in its gameplay design.
OVERALL SCORE
Not Recommended
REPLAY VALUE
Low
