I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
i review games on steam after i 100% complete them! check out my reviews to see all the games i have completed! doc apocalypse is a 2017 point & click adventure game developed by midlan design (their second game, following the 2015 release of 'the apotheosis project") and published by screen 7. i've now officially completed their first eight games published to steam, including dumbass drivers! (review coming). this is a short adventure game that features full voice acting complementing their bizarre narrative plot. this can be a pleasant surprise if you go in with an open mind like i did, even having played their first game which is notably below average in my opinion. this was a huge step up in nearly every quantifiable way possible. like i always say in my reviews of these screen 7 games, i highly recommend buying their bundle with all their games published to steam, it's a solid value for a solid collection of games, especially if you like p&C adventure games (just know some are going to be below-average to just straight up bad).
It is an intriguing sci-fi adventure game without intuitive UI. Pixel hunting is quite annoying. Story – 7/10 Graphics – 5/10 Sound – 5/10 Gameplay – 3/10
As many other reviewers have noted, this game does suffer from an unintuitive UI in addition to some pixel hunting moments and puzzles not always logically making sense. I will say however after clearing the game twice I enjoyed the sheer Bizarreness of it and the voice acting although hit and miss was also funny and entertaining. The music and landscapes also hit pretty well to give it a strange apocalypse/time traveling atmosphere. Goofy and not to be taken too seriously there is fun to be had if you're into a modern point and click that feels like a lost surreal relic of the 90s and just take it in for its quirky self, but people seeking a game with a serious tone will likely be put off by the strange directions and pop culture references. If you want an archaic feeling strange campy time traveling story this may scratch that weird itch. For me the game isn't bad bad more like bad and I laughed along with it rather than at it, it obviously was made by devs with little experience and overall for 99 cents I think certain people looking for sci fi cheese will get some solid chuckles out of it. I do recommend playing the game with a guide however, I think the player will have an overall better experience to avoid the pixel hunting moments people talk about, there's an excellent guide here on Steam that'll walk you through if you're getting stumped.
WTF
It's a big plus point in my eyes to find a click and point adventure here, which is as long as more expensive games of that kind here, but offers an (at least) equal gameplay-length! Unfortunately it got some negative aspects as well, therefore I will summarize to you all it's pros and cons: + A story suitable to all science-fiction fans and maybe even conspiracy theory fans would enjoy it! + Hard puzzles, which is a big pro for all genre-fans. + Well made video-sequences in the game. + A big twist in the story of this game. + Great sounding voices. + Sympathetic main hero. - At the start of the game, there's a minigame for unlocking Doc's bunker. It needs incredible fast left-mouse button smashing for opening this bunker, which was even impossible for my usb-mouse to handle for! Only the inbuilt latop-mouse was able to handle it (hardly!), but I doubt that's any good for your laptop's condition... - Some objects are hard to see, like for example a mirror on a counter or a transparent bottle on the floor. - For some riddles or just for getting extra points, you actually need to talk to some objects! That's hard to find out without a walkthrough, but thank goodness you will find some of them here in the community. - One room was even missable, because hovering the mouse cursor on that area didn't tell with a text-descritotion that it's accessable, unlike all of the other objects and locations in the game. - The walking animations of some characters (the two other playable characters/family members of Doc) is looking a bit goofy. So yes, for this price (which is even offered cheaper during discounts!) I can honestly recommend it to all click and point game fans, which don't feel too encouraged for taking a peak into the walkthrough from time to time.
