About
Monsters in the yard. Monsters in the house. Monsters in the hall, beating on your door. Your brother's trapped in his treehouse, so he’s not gonna be much help. You're going to have to get yourself out of this. But where did they come from? How are you supposed to deal with this? Well, certainly not by cowering in your room. That's for, uh, cowards.
First things first. You need to open the door.
A LOVE LETTER TO '90s ADVENTURE GAMES
...without the accompanying frustration. As fun and well-paced as you generously remember them being. No dream-logic solutions, no hearing the same “those items don’t work together” message over and over. HIVESWAP has unique responses for everything you can try. Spend hours trying everything on everything, if you want to -- but not because you have to. Learn about the characters by exploring their homes! But like, in a good way! No audio logs split up and scattered around -- GUARANTEED.
HAND-ANIMATED IN TWO DIMENSIONS
Strange homes to explore, every room brimming with secrets. The world of HIVESWAP is beautiful and alive, from its hyper-detailed environments to its gorgeous fully-rendered animations. Come take a look!
MUSIC TO MAKE YOU WEEP
An eclectic, ambitious, genre-spanning soundtrack, featuring contributions from Undertale’s Toby Fox and, regrettably, at least one third-wave ska song. Also featuring at least one pseudo-revolutionary garage rock duo, with regrets of their own.
WORLDS TO SEE, TEENS TO BE
Play as JOEY CLAIRE, EXTRAORDINAIRE, a teen trapped in her room *and* in 1994. Play as JUDE HARLEY, BIZARRELY, her kid brother, trapped in his treehouse. Play as XEFROS TRITOH, ALIEN REBEL, wait. Aliens?
JUST GETTING STARTED
HIVESWAP: ACT 1 is the first of a four-part series set in Andrew Hussie’s Homestuck universe, with a companion game, Hauntswitch, to follow. Continue your save from chapter to chapter, then from game to game, to carry your story, choices, friendships and frenemies across them all--then do it again! Once released, HIVESWAP and Hauntswitch will be playable in either order. Haven’t read Homestuck? That’s fine! This game is set in 1994! Homestuck hasn’t even been invented yet!
And then...
the adventure continues in ACT 2.

Reviews
I don't know if there's a bug that displays reviews for a different game or what but the game is absolutely not what the positive comments promise. First of all, the script/dialogue writer is a graphoman, and the game is littered with textual spam whith every single unmeaningful decorative item, such as a calendar poster, having a 3 paragraphs long description, and there are like one million items per screen. And the writing is not even great, it's trying so hard but it's pretty tedious - this is 90% of the game, having to click through a mass of items reading mediocre walls of text, the other 5% are cutscenes and the last 5% actual adventuring puzzles. And the whole gameplay is pretty shallow with dull and extremely simplistic adventure puzzles. A dull minigame here, and a random sequence of non logical "combat" scene actions there. By the 20th minute i got so incredibly bored of the writing that i just started skipping spammy dialogue lines and just skimming for keywords hinting what to do next. The only positive aspect of this game is art direction, animation and music design, but it just gets all downed by the incredibly uninteresting gameplay and walls of unmeaningful writing that does not entertain. Definitely do not buy
An amazing game, with great art, fun puzzles, and spectacular music. My only complaint is that its too short for $10
Dude, these HIVESWAP: ACT 1 are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny, they make me wanna merge without looking!
I did not care for hiveswap act 1.
Jake English/Harley a canonical deadbeat lmaooo
they should make it a crime for the last achievement needed to 100% this game be locked behind a game that doesn't even exist yet otherwise good game thanks andrew sussy
These cutie-patooties need better friends, better parents, and some emotional support! The item combos made me feel like I was having an anyeresum, but a fun game. The characters really encompass the uncertainty of being in, like, what, 9th grade.... woof.
so fricking hard going into the 6th dimension is easier than to finish hiveswap act 1 and 2 im stuck on one part that ive been stuck for 1 year and i cant proceed i hope they help me get through or ill rip my intestines out and make spaghetti with them and eat it while recording and send it on youtube until the hiveswap developers see it. :)
definitely very short (beat this in about 3 - 4 hours though only 2 show because of my demo playtime) though id say its fun enough to be worth the price of 5 pound. My main critique is down to the length, it feels like the moment you start getting anywhere it abruptly stops. I liked a lot of the writing and the characters, though that's hardly surprising given the franchise, and the visuals were nice. Great music from the point you get to Alternia on but everything before that is kind of average, over all: is good.
