Dismantled is a heavily modified Doom game using the GZDoom engine that takes what was done in the previous wad (game) and expands on it to make this the definitive experience. Nonetheless, although improved in some areas, it still has a lot of problems that may test the player's patience more than the game itself. : The Good :

Excellent horror atmosphere, heavily inspired by horror films like SAW and Hostel and horror video game franchises like Resident Evil & The Suffering
If it's your thing, lots of gruesome and gory environments and imagery
Very fairly priced given the sheer amount of game time you can get playing it
The game is surprisingly big, so expect a lot of areas to explore
The game very much is Survival Horror-based, meaning that it is imperative to have a good grasp of managing resources like healing items and ammunition
Multiple endings, and secrets to discover if you want
: The Mediocre :

Enemy design is a mixed bag; some enemies look great and are terrifying, while some are a bit more bland and are extremely annoying (unfun) to deal with
Gun play is okay. Not as satisfying as other horror games, but not terrible.
As stated up above, the game is large, but a lot of areas tend to not lead to anything important; ala LOTS AND LOTS of empty rooms.
: The Bad :

Still some bugs, such as crashing your screen or forcing you to CTRL+ALT+DEL in order to close the game
No manual saves; saves require items (ala Ink Ribbon's from Resident Evil 1) and you can only save within these rooms
UI is a bit clunky
Remapping controls isn't great
Items can often match the texture of other surfaces, making them easy to miss
Some enemies have absurdly cheap placements, making it very easy to die via cheap shots or seemingly appearing out of thin air
Game can be difficult to navigate, leading to quite a bit of aimless wandering, as well as missing on important items earlier on, such as weapons
A LOT of backtracking, sometimes with enemies suddenly appearing where there weren't any previously.
Ultimately, Dismantled : Director's Cut is essentially a game you're going to love or hate. I did enjoy my time playing it, although I was certainly upset more than once by one of the problems listed up above. It's one of those Enjoy it or Hate it games. With it's low price, it's certainly worth the dive in my opinion.
I was close to liking it, but some critical design flaws don't gel with me at all. If you can tolerate ambush heavy stiff combat, and obscure item hunting, this is actually made with love, so check it out and turn this thumb upwards if you like it. The authors REALLY like old RE games, and they make it known, even if the visuals scream more in the tones of outlast, with the mix of gore and nudity. I am personally not a huge fan of RE games, and this is one one a budget and with less talent behind, the efforts are admirable, I liked some aspects, yet it's just not quite there. The visual design of areas is really good, some of those gz/lzdoom games squeeze out a lot out of the engines, some of the rooms can be memorable enough to navigate the mansion well, but then a lot of the corridors are so samey that I can get lost the first run through easier than in og doom or wolfenstein games. The gore is disturbing enough, builds the atmosphere nicely, even if the idea is a bit goofy behind the human/animal hybrid, the base game enemy (wolf man) despite the touch up, still looks probably the worst out of everything in the game. The music is decent at what it does too, very heavy and droning, made me on edge on a few occasions. The amount of content is also pretty good, two pretty good length campaings. What I'm not a fan of is combat and item hunting, the former can be either mind numbing with base enemies, or frustrating with the more tanky aggressive ones. The weapons are imbalanced early game, where axe outperforms handgun hundredfold, and is still at times more useful than the shotgun. There is also a lot of ambushes, enemies behind doors constantly, sometimes small ones hiding under desks, at the first level they spawn retroactively in areas you've been to after a trigger. I rarely felt anxious during combat, it was either dull or frustrating. Then the worst part imo comes in, in the item hunting progression, the design is god awful, you can take a turn at the very start of the game, and you will miss your only weapon pickup, effectively softlocking yourself, since the retroactively spawned in enemies block your path now. Second and third levels flow overall better, but the transition from 2nd to 3rd is infuriating for me enough where I almost uninstalled it after finding it. There is a mandatory secret, that requires you to push a bookcase (only works from one side) with no clearly visible indication that it is movable. What makes it worse is that in the same vicinity there is another secret, that is way more obvious, that just gives you an item. Lastly you have to use on-screen keyboard to type in a password you should find in one of the notes in your inventory, but that is at least the most intuitive part about it. There is also a lot of dead ends that don't look like one, doom automapper that is unfit for vertical maps like this game has, unnecessarily faithful but cumbersome RE menuing, sometimes very long transition animations (which were meant to hide LONG load times, not near instant ones you will experience on basically any doom engine game), lack of hud not helping with the immersion, when you'll probably be looking at the default doom mapper (with no transparency option) 20% of the time. In the hands of a more patient and perceptive player, this probably plays a LOT smoother, and while I still think these are significant flaws, if you do manage to look past them, there is definitely a lot of passion and a lot of content to appreciate here.
Easily recommended, if you're into survival horror games. Gnarly gore and nudity, mixed with a giant maze of a map.
i really like to love this game, i like idea i like visual. but i dont like save system like at all.....no option to change that , i dont see a problem if many people ask for alternative mode where you can save at any point you want. and sometimes i dont know where i need to go , but because of bad save system i need get cicrles around like 40-50 min.
best game ive played since MANHUNT ITS FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!!
Ok so just to preface, I absolutely love survival horror, metroidvanias, and boomer shooters. As such its hard to give an unbiased review because this game is made specifically for people like me. That being said, its good, honestly a wholly unique experience. Ill update once i finish but the 8 hrs ive put in lead me to want to get more people in on the fun. BTW it runs really well on steam deck, ive uploaded an Xbox controller layout and will upload a deck one next time i take my deck out with me.
The key disappeared, it should be there.
A fun, electric, challenging and horrifying disturbing horror game. Worth to buy without sale.
