Disaster Arms - Impact Project B.A.H.N.

"it sticks too close to its source material" is an easy out. this deviates from alien soldier in all the ways it needs to in order to be the absolutely excellent, potentially-more-fun-than-alien-soldier thing that it is. there is great room for improvisation and skill expression here; there are so many "solves" for bosses and levels that feel excellent to execute, and plenty of room for manipulation of enemy projectiles - which when paired with the much-longer-than-alien-soldier counter attack make for something truly excellent. the presentation is a treat. the character designs are superb and the story, while not particularly complex, has a certain je ne sais quoi to its presentation. the visuals and music come together to be really engaging. i think that with any "clone" game - doom clones, soulslikes, etc - you will have a number of initial lackluster imitators before a genre is codified. disaster arms leaps that step completely. to clone a game is to speak the same words it speaks, but disaster arms goes further and speaks the same language as alien soldier.

PD_CGT continues to impress with a short, difficult, fun and replayable run n' gun arcade platformer! Getting used to the controls takes a while but the tatsujin punch and ignition dash are really satisfying to use once you get the hang of them. The basic difficulty is very forgiving to ease you into the mechanics and with the exception of a couple bosses the difficulty curve is tuned perfectly. The developer's signature art style is still great and I really enjoyed the character designs, especially Elle and Mildred. Dolores mode was a fun reference to Somnabuster. The plot was a bit messy sometimes but the key moments are executed well. I probably still prefer SomnaBuster but that's mostly down to genre preference.

Estava hypado para esse jogo desde os primeiros clipes que vi e posso dizer que o hype foi saciado! Muito divertido e viciante, com uma história que, apesar de parecer simples, consegue apresentar uma delicadeza e impacto que eu não esperava. Se você gosta de jogos estilo arcade, especialmente os da Treasure, você vai adorar esse jogo.

In the latter half of 2025 I managed to get the 1CC on Alien Soldier. Shortly after that this game released and was getting good praise in some communities I follow, and was recommended for anyone who enjoyed Alien Soldier. Has some good unique changes, nice difficulty, and great music. Highly recommend it!

The artstyle is probably the most attention-grabbing feature of this game, and yeah, the game 100% delivers in that regard. The world, character designs and cutscenes look like they came straight from an artist's sketchbook. But even if you ignore the visuals, Disaster Arms is a very memorable experience thanks to its story, fun gameplay and many creatively designed bosses. This and the other game in the "Treasure-like" bundle, Candy Rangers, are true hidden gems!

The dev said to leave a review so I'm here. I do plan on tackling this game more on its harder difficulties. It's like an Alien Soldier style game. It's a boss rush with some enemies in between.

Fun game, Fun artstyle. You should check out this dev's whole catalogue, especially if you're into Treasure-like games.
