Combat was really fun, the boss fights were lowkey challenging and the dodging and blocking mechanic feels perfect and satisfying to use some complains: The game isn't very well optimised as I was averaging 38-40fps on 1080 medium settings The game instructions aren't very clear so expect to figure some things out by yourself overall really great game tho it's worth the try imo

For starters it's a good game. Dinosaurs tearing each-other to shreds with medieval weapons -no political or gender commentary, no 45 minute character creator only for you to cover yourself for the rest of the game with full plate armor.. Just some good old-fashioned fun. It is, objectively, a very easy game however. There is a single boss that requires any particular amount of skill and that's all I'll say on the matter. Permanently gaining max HP per-kill and every kill equating to a stat point you can allocate means that it is aggressively easy to out-level any form of difficulty. The game is also very, very short. But ultimately I played through it twice. Once blind and once to do a deathless run (which I did on the first try). I think the quality is there even if I personally feel the game should be twice as long for $20. But it was fun, and that's what games should be. I'd give it a 7/10 mainly because the noob-support-systems are too aggressive and the game is quite short. Hopefully they expand on the game and tone down how easy it is to power past the difficulty.
SPOILERS btw i guess i played this game almost completely in one sitting, and my first problem with it is that its 20 BUCKS for a 3 hour game. for 20 bucks this game shouldn't have 3 hours of content, also other little details that i noticed is that its a bit buggy, the hit boxes especially for the last summon sucked. And the noises the Dinos made just turned into background noise and wasn't very unique. now my biggest problem with the game is the final boss. that Boss is the reason why i ALMOST completed it in one sitting, i beat its first form with two health stones (potions) left and all my abilities on cool down, and then i have to refight it, not to mention if you were to build your strategy around the roar ability you loose it for the first form, and all the abilities you can't max out before the end boss. the concept and the other bosses were pretty fun and good before i made up to the final boss. not to mention i looked at the reviews and saw overwhelmingly positive and thought it'd be better than what it was. the perfect parry system and combat system was a bit ass at the end too
Pro: + You are a Spinosaurus with a two hander in his mouth, thats just a pro in itself + Combat is responsive and satisfying, your character animation are incredibly good + The bosses are all very fun to fight, requiring different approaches and tactics for each one +The game is visually very appealing, the dino models are detailed and spectacular on the levels backgrounds + Exploration is rewarded with secret swords and flask upgrades, quite worth it + Music is incredibly good, both the relaxing exploration tunes than the heavy metal themes of all the bosses Con: - Game is quite short, if you are a soulslike expert you can finish the campaign between 7 and 8 hours, still it is quite in line with the price of admission - There is still some minor jank here and there, in tyrant's canyon, the first area, exploration can bring you to some places where your dino can get stuck - the parry timing is ok but, depending on bosses, can be a bit counterintuitive - some of the smaller enemies can be hard to see and can do quite a bit of damage without you even noticing - a more 'prehistoric' theme for the UI would have been great, it is functional but it looks very 'bland' Dinoblade is at its core every man inner 8 year old child fantasy made reality and given the form of a very good, very satisfying videogame, Spinoboy is a pleasure to control and fight with, the character upgrade and level up system is on the simplier side compared to other soulslike but it gets the job done, the moment to moment action is amazing and addicting and the game is a pleasure to experience from start to finish. This dev shows how much pure, unfiltered passion coupled with a crazy idea can give to an audience, well done! Highly Recommended 8/10
i just love dinosaurs and this game it is very fun to play through
I was here for the early demo and I completely fell in love with it, it's a tiny bit jank but filled with love. I'm loving the full game just a s much, but for some reason the beta felt longer and harder than what the first three bosses were. I'm a bit confused how it took me nearly 60 deaths on the beta version to past Kaiser the Tyrant, but on the full release I died 6 times from start to passing Kaiser. Perhaps the difficulty should be spiked up a bit and the game can actually be challenging and rewarding, instead of the click fest I'm doing right now. The game is passionate and fun, worthy of the price tag.
Reminiscent of charming low budget ps2 games like that one transformers armada game. Is it AAA? Hell no, its not even AA, but man its worth the time for a fun short adventure. animations are amazing, gameplay is decent, but the aura is sky high.
