The game was crashing for me when i tried to play but only in full screen. I took it out of full screen and have been playing without issue since. Loads of fun!!
I am just as addicted to this game as I was 20 years ago. I followed what other people have said and I have had no glitches while playing out of full screen mode. Just go to settings and uncheck full screen. Played for 3 hours so far, no glitches. Love this game.
The game plays fine. People who've been complaining about crashes need to simply play the game in Windowed mode and not on Fullscreen.
The Diner Dash series is a fun, retro blast from the past. If Steam can work out the bugs (game frequently halts & restarts), and get more in this series, I'd love to have more to play.
I was super pumped to play Diner Dash as I grew up playing it & was looking for a good blast to the past moment. Not only is it extremely laggy but, with 23 minutes into the game it had crashed twice. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement.
Game literally crashes every time you try and play through a level. Listen to the reviews. I should have.
At first I also worried about lagging issue like what majority reviews here said, but actually when I play it on windowed mode, the game is reallyyy smooth, no lagging issue at all ! You just have to press alt + enter if im not mistaken to make it windowed mode and play the game without any issue. I already finished all levels , such a nostalgic games ;)
I was only able to play like the first 12 levels before it crashed, making me unable to play the rest of the game. I think I got it refunded but I was disappointed because it was so fun before that.
It does work, but to get it to work I have to play it in windowed mode (tiny and nonresizeable/unscalable) and delete all of the comics/ folders in the game files full of .swf files to make it playable and not crash. I'm on Linux using Proton 10. Generally Linux is better than modern Windows to play really old Windows games, so as this is likely even worse on Win11 I can't recommend anyone purchase this really. I just really, really needed a Diner Dash fix so I forked over $10. EDIT: You can actually change the scaling on Linux through protontricks. Install protontricks and winetricks for your distro, then run in your terminal $ protontricks 37240 winecfg This will open the normal winecfg menu. Changing the DPI in here will change DPI for this game and scale it properly. (May also require disabling window decorations in winecfg as well.)
sadly still crashes by lvl 4 wish someone would fix it bc diner dash was a really good game sad to see it go
