Diner Dash:® Hometown Hero™

This game was definitely a core childhood memory for me (´｡• ᵕ •｡`). I used to play it all the time, so naturally, I was curious to revisit it. At first, I was a bit hesitant to buy it because of the mixed reviews, and honestly, they weren’t wrong (・・;) When you launch the game, the interface is quite glitchy and laggy. The mouse tends to ghost and leaves a faint trail across the screen, which was a bit distracting. Correct me if I'm wrong but I also vaguely remembered using right-click instead of left-click. It might just be muscle memory kicking in (・・;) That said, I didn’t experience any crashes, which is a plus. I managed to reach level 9 before the lag became too much to deal with, and I had to alt+F4 out of the game (╥﹏╥) I was about to refund the game when I came across a review saying the game works better when not in fullscreen. Tried it out and yes!!! That actually helped (＾▽＾) Still, considering the glitches and the price point, it doesn’t really feel like a full-price purchase. There aren’t any noticeable updates, new features, or DLCs. It’s really just the same old Diner Dash, which might appeal to nostalgia but doesn’t offer much beyond that (´-ω-`) So in conclusion, if you’re buying it purely for that nostalgic feeling, it might be worth it. But if you’re hoping for improvements or new content, this game probably won’t deliver (・_・;)

The game itself is actually quite wonderful. Unfortunately, this review is simplified to technical issues. The game is currently non-functional, per other reviews. It's very old and it is not being updated for modern computers. No one's fault, really, just a nifty game lost to time.

Doesn't even load anymore. All it does is freeze and crash. I requested a refund, waste of $10.

This is a game from my childhood and I can't get past level six in the baseball stadium but it's the best game ever and i will forever play this game no matter what year it is <3 *EDIT* yeah so I beat the whole game, I had to take away the fullscreen option so it just floats on my screen now to stop it from crashing but I still stand by my review of this game is awesome and I wish the OG Diner Dash game was on here because I would also beat that game as FAST as humanly possible!!!!!

The game is constantly crashing. According to support community this issue has been going on for years, but neither playfirst or steam does something. At least take it down or make the game free, cause it is not worth the price. Plus if you have over 7h, you will not receive a refund. Since I am over those 7h, I am not eligible. there is no official support e.g. proper customer service or real person I can talk too. It is such a nice game back from my teenage years, so this is really sad. Please do not buy this game. Trust me, it crashes down on every level at least 1-2x. Now that I reached lvl 10-it has been crashing down every freaking time I try to play. And always mid game. ***EDIT***I have tried to play it on window mode (no full screen) and I managed to play a few levels before it crushed again. I suppose, you can switch to full screen and window and play like this... It is still a bit annoying to do all of that, but at least i can play now.

Followed the advice of other reviews and played in windowed mode. I'm on Windows 11 and I was able to play every level to an expert score with zero crashes. The Diner Dash games will always have a special place in my heart. It's heartbreaking to me that this is the only installment in the main series available on Steam and that it doesn't even come with the expansions. It was wonderful to relive some of my childhood for about 10 hours though. I remember getting Flo on the Go for my birthday one year and I was SO EXCITED that you could change her clothes. I played all the Dash games over and over. I hope that I can find Diner Dash 2 and 3 somewhere (I never played the first one, or the fifth one). Edit: I was able to find the rest of the Diner Dash games, the expansions for this game, the rest of the Cooking Dash games, the rest of the Wedding Dash games, the second Hotel Dash game, Doggie Dash and Parking Dash! :)) I found most of them on (old games download .com) and the rest on (my abandon ware .com). ((Remove the spaces on the websites)) I also found all of the Cake Mania games on Internet Archive. They all have the same issue: PLAY ON WINDOWED MODE!! Have fun everyone! Time management fans unite!

Not being able to play full screen is rough, but I love Diner Dash so I found a way to make it work. Keep the game out of full screen mode and increase your desktop zoom to 150 or 175. Not quite full screen but good enough. Awesome game wish the others were on here.

I love diner dash but i paid $10 for a 16 year old game that doesn't work well. Story/cutscenes doesn't work.

i installed this app without looking at the reviews. every time i enter the game, i can t even press to do a mission bc it instantly takes me out of the game. please fix this problem. i m not the only one
