This game sucks, got it in a cheap bundle and found out why it was so cheap when I booted it up. Bad gun play, unreadable combat.
Ultrakill in style alone, with no substance or thought put behind it, enemies are just slap-dashed everywhere with no thought or design because its a "roguelike". The life drain mechanic feels tacked on and the whole thing feels like a quickly tossed together experience to get some quick bucks from ultrakill fans, can't recommend in its current state, needs a lot more work.
A few things to note: I don't recommend this game based on the fact that the difficulty turns all the way up to a 10 as soon as the 1v1 bossfight begins. That needs heavy rebalancing. Sure, I beat it, it took me a few tries, but it was a little annoying how the difficulty was just cranked all the way up. Another thing, is that the game hasn't had a major update since last year. Dev also isn't active on social media as far as I'm aware. That being said, I did enjoy the game. It was fun, music slammed, some cool mechanics. But I can't recommend it in it's current state. TL;DR - Needs rebalancing, more frequent content updates and communication from dev. I enjoyed but couldn't recommend to others.
this game tries to be ultrakill in the worst way possible
Honestly, I was expecting a lot more from this game. As a huge fan of ULTRAKILL, this game looking really fun and interesting, capturing some of the styles from the game that I really liked. Now, before I go on, I KNOW that this game is NOT ULTRAKILL. But that's kind of my problem. This game feels like they tried to emulate ULTRAKILL but change it up, but in doing so accidentally took away some of the core mechanics that made ULTRAKILL fun. Before I delve into specific problems, let me say that the music for this game is pretty good, and the art style is really recognizable and is one that can look fantastic. Some of the enemy designs are REALLY cool, and overall I think it's important to realize that the devs of this game most likely worked really hard on it, and you can definitely see that passion shine through some of the game. Now, onto my specific problems. The first problem I have is the weapons. The pistol is alright, and the alt fire is really good. The normal shot feels ok, but at times feels underpowered or useless. The sniper rifle is actually really great, dealing a lot of damage for no area control. The sniper feels good to use and actually powered correctly. Now on the other hand, the shotgun feels really awful. One of the problems with the guns is feeling like they don’t hit or have no response, but the shotgun REALLY embodies this. 90% of the time I can’t tell when I alt fire, and the normal shot is really clunky. With both they feel really uncomfortable and just straight up bad to use. There is almost no feedback from any of the weapons. The fist is fine most of the time. The game definitely pushes you to try and use the guns to lead up to the fist, acting like it’s almost like an ultimate ability. The fist can feel really strong in crowds, but sometimes it just feels lackluster due to how many enemies are on screen and how spread out everyone is. Not every level should have a Cry For The Weeper amount of enemies. Now, unto health. The fact that you die over time is really cool and can be done in many ways, and it encourages you to GO FAST, which I LOVE. Well, I love the concept of it. In Dimensional Slaughter, you lose around 1 HP every half a second, meaning it takes you around 75 seconds to die even without combat. This would be fine, but killing one enemy heals you for almost nothing, which does encourage you to use your fist, but to do that you need to use the clunky weapons. Great, I guess. The enemies also feel copy and pasted, and much more like a waves type game rather than being whatever Dimensional Slaughter wanted to be. The only thing I’m going to say about the boss fights is that they are very boring, and it feels like the boss fight isn’t even the main part. It feels like the enemies are the total focus. The final thing I wanna touch on is the movement. I am a huge fan of movement in video games and that is one of my favorite things in general. That being said, I feel like this game really wanted to do that with its movement mechanics, but a lot of the time it just feels really unpolished and horrible to play. The parkour is absolutely abysmal, and the movement is way too clunky for what it’s trying to be. I wanted to like this game but after only a half an hour, I was really sick of the game. I feel like with a lot of balance changes (such as dmg changes), and fundamental changes (movement), this game could be so much more. I do have hope for it, I really do. But as of right now, the game is a lackluster mess and genuinely awful to play.
Played on Linux using Proton Exp, Runs fine, But i did not like the Game, Yeah it's another low poly game but that's not the biggest problem, It's the Colours used, it's so bad i could not play this longer then 10-15 Minutes, Also Level Design is boring and Basic, not that i saw much in the time i played, it might get better later on, And the Game is just Hard, just keeps spawning Baddies in your face that also seem to move a lot quicker then you do, Graphics are Low Poly, With Vomit inducing Colours, Sound FX are low to average, Music is okay, Game play is just a fast paced boomer shooter with parkour, and in your face spawning of baddies and a tad to hard to be any fun.
i will make it quick, this game is a mess of effect, ennemie and level design. this game it put you in a room with 50 enemie and you will just shoot mindlessely without knowing the hell you are doing. they are multiple weapons but they all hav the same ammo making it run fast and when your weapon has no ammo you cant just swap to another (like any other fps) the only way to get ammo is by taking the crate that spawn in the level. but sometime they are a little hidden, so you will wallrun, dash trying to survive while searching for a crate. the ennemie do a lot of damage (maybe around 10 hp) and there i a lot happeing on the screen that this can be classified as a bullet hell. there is some rogue like element when you finish a dimension where you can have not so good upgrade. and you will probably die in a dimension before seeing the upgrade menu. honestly this was the upgrade part that made me buy the game but its mostly useless. you will have a meh upgarde that will not help you in the bullet hell. if it had permanent upgrade like in rogue legacy this would be pretty interesting but nah. also a fun part is that the rogue like part is also not random. so you will do the same level again and again. its like playing ultra kill but if you die, you restart the whole floor. the graplin hook part is horrible it can only hook on blue ball in the sky, and if the ball lead to nowhere it dont let you keep the speed. you have to jump before reaching the ball to keep the speed. when you are playing the game its really not satisfying. with the graplin hook part there is also a vampire turte thing. when its spawn it wil slowly drain your life, so you have to stop what you are doing and try to find it. horrible like the ammo. i don't know where to say that but the "smashing" mechanic is not good. its the same button that the slide, if you are on the ground you slide, if you are in the air you smash. easy fix: make the smash button on ctrl. because when i want to slide a bit early, that im like 2 pixel above the gound, instead of making me slide it make me smash and make me lose all speed. also i hate the mechanics of "smash jump". if you jump after making a smash you jump a bit higher but there nothing that really tell you that you succeded. so the game pull a "trust me, you jump higher" the walljump is ok. when its a ghostrunner walljump it work. but when its a mario walljump its horrible. honestly the game is not doomed, but i absolutely not recommend it in this state. the rogue like upgrade part can be really fun but it need a lot of balanced. the game is very hard. in normal, the way you need to play the game, i couldnt finish 2 dimension because of its difficulty. im a guy that player a lot of fps, ive played ultrakill, doom, helllsinger, dusk, postal BD, Paperhead. but this game is just hard. it need a lot of gameplay upgrade instead of just adding new dimension. and if the gameplay dont change a lot, then i don't recommend it.
Its fun up until you get to the 1v1 with the purple guy where the game just completely nosedives down the drain. I get wanting to do the 1v1 thing between the two robots like how ultrakill did it but at the same time, ultrakill made a boss fight that was possible and enjoyable. I was planning on sinking a couple hours (at least) into this game but with a boss fight that is a copy and paste of the ultrakill one and also 1000x harder than the ultrakill one, ill pass.
Cara... O que eu posso dizer é q tem bastante bixo...
Last update is from 2024, game isn't completed and to be honest, it isn't fun when you consider there are way better choices to choose from, games such as Ultrakill, Turbo Overkill, Roboquest, Trepang2, Maximum Action, Severed Steel, etc... Be it rogue-lite FPS such as Severed Steel or simply oldschool-like FPS such as Turbo Overkill, you've got many to play. This one I simply can't recommend it, uncompleted, it does nothing new just as it does nothing good. It's not bad either but you can find better everywhere else and game will never be completed so better give it a pass.
