Best digimon game since the DS era
I've only played 5 hours so I can't speak to the substance or the length of the story. I'll just say that I regret my discounted purchase and anyone who buys this for the full price of $66 should be ashamed of themselves. This is basically a mobile game. Digimon has been around now for like 20 years. I've never liked it as much as Pokemon. Sorry Bandai. I just don't get the story. The characters aren't compelling. The Digimon are weird and I can't buy in. Tried it. Gave it 5+ hours, but I'm out.
Keşke şu oyuna 33 dolar vermek yerine dönüp bir tur daha Cyber Sleuth oynasaydım. Oyunun tek bir iyi yaptığı şey bile yok. Digimon evrim mekanikleri, harita ve görev tasarımları, sesler ve grafikler tamamen hayal kırıklığı. Mobil oyunlardan hallice agresif DLC satma çabası ise tam bir rezalet, sırf DLC pazarlamak için oyuna özel NPC bile koymuşlar. Agent Rank sistemi çok zorlama (özellikle beşten yediye geçme tam bir işkence), hikayesi deseniz ucuz bir furry shouta fanfic tadında. İşin en sinir bozucu kısmı da istediğim Digimonlara sahip olabilmek için tam 37 saat bekleyip sonunda gerekli ranka ulaşıp kadromu tamamladığımda geriye sadece 5 saatlik bir oynanış kalması. Paranıza ve zamanınıza yazık.
Digimon Story Time Stranger is the best monster collecting game I have ever played. The story itself starts quite interesting. The second half drags on a little bit and some decisions regarding some story parts of the game were exhausting at times because you felt like in the movie groundhog day doing the same stuff over and over again. Also, as a completionist, I felt that the side missions didn't respect my time. Many side quests were of the type "talk to X and either find something or fight someone". But due to the slow movement and the suboptimal fast travel systems it always felt like a chore to go through the numerous regions. Also, the number of side quests you are confronted with at the end is ungodly. It felt like half of my playtime was spent on side missions I received literally before the final mission. A major positive point are the digimon. Collecting and digivolving them using various evolution paths was motivating and even in cases where I got an evolution that was basically useless I enjoyed the discovery of the new digimon nonetheless. The fighting system is not too complex yet offers a range of strategies that can be used. Especially the animations of the special attacks were designed with so much attention to detail it puts everything the pokemon franchise has thrown at us in the past 20 years to shame. Also, works great on Linux (aside from frame tearing which I was not able to resolve, unfortunately). I can only recommend this game to everyone who enjoys monster collecting games.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is my first Digimon game, and I'm loving it! Don't expect a Pokémon-like game, because Digimon Story: Time Stranger** is very different (and I think that's true for the Digimon series in general). It's a classic JRPG with monster-collecting mechanics, a good story, and a lot of attention to its art direction and world-building. I really appreciate the huge variety of Digimon, the battle mechanics, and the Iliad world. At the time of writing this review, I still haven't finished the game—I think I'm just before the halfway point. I recommend completing all the side quests, as they provide useful experience and crafting materials. I definitely recommend this game. It's been a great experience so far. PS I don't know why, but Steam says I've only played 15 hours at the time of writing this review, while I've actually played around 26 hours. PPS: I'm also playing it on Steam Deck, and it runs very well!
