When is the gambling add-in coming?
Really good concept and I hope more gets added. My current only problem is the in game sounds are very quiet compared to the ending jingle, it scared the heck out of me lol
Only $10 for something that is very well-done. There's a really fun game in here. It's very addicting, and I constantly want to start a new run once I lose. The upgrades are easy to see with the effects they give. They combo well. For example, I had built up multiple combinations to get a triple, and right before the last game, there I got an upgrade to turn all triples into homeruns. I ended up winning the final game 79-9. So there are some game-breaking (in a good way) combinations as with the best of rougelikes. My only critique, as others have mentioned, is the inability to do much else in the 3 innings of play than roll the dice. Hopefully, any updates will bring something like a way to track how far into the series you're in. Very fair price. Well worth it.
Really fun so far. It has that "one more run" that Balatro provides. The card modifiers in the shop are diverse and unique. They can really help you form a build to go far in any run. The dice rolls seem a bit too random and against you at times ,but its not killing the fun of the game. If you like baseball , Balatro, deck building rouguelikes. This is a great buy. Cant wait to see how this is updated
This is a meh review but for the price (only 5$ lower than balatro) it's slightly more on the bad than the good (for now)
TLDR: Good theming but way way WAY too much RNG to feel like your choices have an impact. I'm going to take the key feature detail in the description of the steam page and expand on what I think is good or bad : ✅Championship Challenge: the game does not claim to have infinite challenges and replayability but still offers a challenge to whoever wants to try and that's true. ❌Strategic Team Building: false... kinda. You can manipulate your outcomes but it's so so small ! Most bonus change a random value of your whole sheet (good or bad) making them a complete gamble and you only get 5$ buck per game making the outcome building very very slow. AND you might not even see it ! It's just a 1/21 chance for each outcome : there is no deck to go threw, or special effect to get them during the game, no rerolls. If the game was based on the sum or form (double, odd, even, etc) of the 2 dices, it would be much easier to modify specific aspect of your curve, having stats vary for each value and taking a more startegic approch to the game. But since each combination get 1 specific outcome, you modify a value that as a 1/21 chance to come out and hope it does. It's not worth it... ✅Diverse Teams: very true ! I was not able to play them due to a bug but I can read the sheets and a big effort was made to make them feel distinct in there appraoch of the game. Too bad you just have to win with one to unlock the next. Would have love to see the Homeron unlocked after 10 homerun or getting a new team the first time you had a steal to your sheet etc... ✅Collectible Card System: yes and even more, the theming of the game is perfect : great sound design, good visuals for field and cards and oh, baseball cards, material and stadium junkfood for the bonus ? Yeah that's good stuff. You know your baseball and if there was more music, I think I might have tipped this review to good. ❌Risk vs. Reward Gameplay: nope, no no no no ... It's more "complete random gameplay". I'm not going to push more on what I said above but the fact that you have no input once a game start forbidds you to have "risk/reward" scenario plus the enemy team is also random ! Meaning you don't even know if you can actually beat them until the end of the game. I had 10 points lead disapear because the enemy was lucky enough to get a string of walks and Homeruns... BUT enough critics ! I want this game to improve so I can switch that to a positiv review :-) ! And I think there are some options : 1- FIX THE ENEMY SCORE : let us know straight up that game 1 is a 1 point per ining team for exemple or that they only roll a 1-6 dice to seatle there strategy. I don't mind having a little randomness on the possible outcome of my enemy but not like 5 points ! It will streamline strategizong what you should get for the late game AND know when a bad game as to be reset. 2- IMPROVE MONEY GAIN : just give us money depending on how good we play ! A fix amount of money is okay but winning by +5 should at least give me a little bonus, no ? It will improve snowball and make good run much more thrilling to play knowing that you're on one of those potential win ! 3- GIVE US A LEVEL 0 SHOP : I want a shop before the first game ! Please ! It's not fun to have to jump into 5 minute of dice rolls before I can make any choices for my team. AND it will also add to this money managment : skipped the first shop for more money ? Well, you better hope you roll good in the first match or you'll have a reset on your hands. 4- MAKE RANDOM CARDS TARGET A SET OF OUTCOMES OR NON TRANSFORMED OUTCOMES : most balatro-like have this nailed down : if you get a random transformation it should either be selected from a restricted pool (strong in the early since you probably get waht you want but making them more dangerous gamble in late game) OR not land on previoulsly transformed values (so that if you paid 10$ to have an extra homerun in your build you can't loose it for a single+). I would gladly advise to change the dice outcome system, have you add in-game startegies to improve your chances like choosing to bunt instead of roll, request a steal, etc... but at this point I feel like asking for another game :/ (also classic call of : pls fix achievment and progression save). If you want a strong deckbuilding game with depth and risk/reward, play Balatro. If you want a good exemple of RNG manipulation for precise outcomes, play Searching for rest.
Cant unlock other teams. See discussions Edit: Devs responded and resolved issue with an update.
Edit: Bug is fixed! Game actually unlocked a team and was playable, we should be good to go! Game is about rolling 2d6, looking for a result on your board, and basically just watching a quasi baseball game with nearly no interaction within the game itself; the actual game is about manipulating your or your opponent's board to make it easier/harder to get on base/score via purchasing items in a fashion reminiscent of Balatro, and succeed in 10 rounds of escalating odds against you. If you can wrap your head around a "baseball" game being just rolling 2d6 over and over, and trying to improve your odds, it's quite fun to see if you can set up the odds so that you can win all 10 rounds. You can also pick different teams based on winning all 10 rounds with each team that have different boards. There are some cards (upgrades that you can sell that take up a certain slot) that do not actually work as written (ETA: ) but it looks like the devs are now watching discussions and intending on fixing things as possible. Things are working as intended now (for the most part)! So I'm happy to say that, if you're looking for a somewhat strategic luck based game, where you set up your RNG and let the dice lie where they may, this is a great time.
This is half of a great game. The basic idea is sound, you roll a dice to generate the results on an at-bat. Between games, you have the chance to buy upgrades that improve your results or hinder your opponents. This is generally fun, except for a few major flaws. 1) You have no control of anything that happens during the game. Your fate is entirely determined by the dice rolls. This isn't awful, except for the fact that it gets a little boring. 2) To "Win" and unlock the next team, you have to win 10 games in a row. If you lose once, you're done. Pretty harsh in a game that is as much luck as skill, especially early on, but even late in the game, you can buy a fantastic set of upgrades and still lose to plain bad luck. 3) The first game you have no control. You don't get to shop, you just have the starting board vs the opponent's board. You can lose here without having any input on the game at all.
Haven’t put a ton of time into it yet, but I feel like I’ve got a pretty good idea of the mechanics. I’ll keep playing, but my hopes aren’t high. I love it in concept, but it ends up being very hands-off, which seems weird for this genre. Only being able to hold 3 modifier cards, plus your one starting card that you can’t change feels really limiting. Mercy rule kind of makes sense, until you realize how easy it is to score 20 in an inning. Feels like it needs to be a higher number. On the positive side: the presentation is awesome, love the aesthetic. I also like a lot of the upgrade ideas. I think if you had more room to play with them, and more interaction during the actual game, it would be super cool. Overall, it’s not the best and honestly just leaves me kind of disappointed that there isn’t another game like this that does it better.
