At some point of the endgame it starts playing like a lame bullet hell dodging one shot mechanics during invincibility stages and one shot AOE affix attacks from overworld mobs instead of an arpg. Defense stats dont mean much due to this. Its just a META build chaser/copy paster. If youre interested in a story with some arpg mechanics, wait for a decent sale. This indie dev studio placed more effort in their microtransaction shop than the game itself. Though that also seems to be in the decline because what even are those Overwatch collab skins.
The McDonald's of ARPGs. Sometimes you get a craving to jump right in. You give in, enjoy the ride, but then feel terrible after. Questionable decisions for seasonal content, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemy encounters compared to other ARPGs and horrendous balance between the classes. The campaign is rather enjoyable for the most part.
The campaign was nice, the animations are good. There are a lot of cutscenes which take more time than the original campaign itself (without the DLC). Too many stats to craft from, there's cold, frozen. frost, chilled damage modifiers? why make so many types of the same thing? Just to waste our time for rolls? Bought it on discount, not worth the money it's a walking corpse of it's predecessors just a huge time and money grab. The always online part is horrible as well considering most of it is played solo. The game crashes after a semi long session (about 3 hours) for no apparent reason - felt like they got developers from ali express (no offense to ali express). I saw free games with less microtransactions in it, this is a huge cash grab from people who didn't play any previous diablo games and just want your time and money. Blizzard is too busy partying with our money and wasting it than actually being creative and making a good coded game, don't give them anymore just go to a party yourself and have a blast. or get POE which is free with less microtransactions that aren't in your face.
I'm sorry, but can we talk about the pricing for a second? A lot of us paid $100 for the Ultimate Edition at launch, and now we're expected to pay another $40 for yet another expansion? Every time I log into Steam to play this game, it feels like there's a new expansion waiting to be sold. What really gets me is finding out that Vessel of Hatred, which I already paid for, is now bundled into the $39.99 Lord of Hatred purchase. Sure, I got to play it when it released instead of waiting, but it makes me wonder: why buy expansions at launch anymore? If history repeats itself, I can just skip this one, wait for the next expansion, and probably get both—or even all three—for the price of one. At this point, I just don't see the value. Diablo IV already felt like a step backward compared to Diablo III. I honestly had more fun mindlessly grinding Greater Rifts than dealing with the seasonal systems and constant expansion cycle in D4, which says a lot. It's honestly disappointing to see where modern gaming has ended up. Everything feels driven by monetization first and the player experience second. Maybe that's why I haven't had any trouble stepping away from gaming for six to eight months at a time. It's hard not to feel like the industry has lost what made it special.
