DESTROYING [strike]FOR THOSE YOU LOVE[/strike] BECAUSE. A simple click sets off a warhead, creating a circular wave of destruction. The explosions are reminiscent to those familiar with ‘Missile Command.’ Perfect timing in launching these warheads creates a chain reaction, blowing up an entire rotating planetary system’s cities or at least that’s the goal. You’ll be wise to plan your shots as eradicating a planetary system with a single warhead, garners the collection of triangular gems. These gems are use to acquire power-ups and presumably, save your species. While this mayhem and destruction can be overall enthralling, Destructamundo became a chore halfway through. Level progression stalls if you do not collect the necessary resources to gain the power-ups as certain levels cannot be completed without said power-up. This back tracking through previous levels seems forced as, in most cases, the player may not be able to clear the necessary levels with a singular warhead. Not only that but collecting the triangular gems seemed random or broken. Swinging the mouse after clicking a gem seemed to be the most effective in collecting gems en masse. A single click would only net you a single gem or a small surrounding cluster. Mind you, you only receive one click, leaving all the uncollected gems floating lonely in space. The banter between your alien higher-up in the beginning of each level, while light-hearted, can leave you confused. The dialog tends to be strange one offs at the attempt at humor. A chuckle can be heard now and then but the humor inside adds little.
Quick, fun, addicting!
This game is a blast! (how's that for humor?) Basic idea is using several weapons to create explosions, which blow stuff up. Timing and positioning is critical to create chain reactions. With the various levels, bonus scores are awarded for fewer shots. ....It's quick, simple, and addictive.
You know what? This action-puzzler was totally fun. I bought it as part of a bundle, and sometimes those games sit in the library forever, but for whatever reason, I decided to fire this one up right away, and I'm glad that I did. The whole concept of the game is chained explosions. You get three shots to clear a level (blowing up all of the planets), but you've only really solved the puzzle if you can do it in a single shot. As you collect bits from the destroyed planets, they become currency to get some bonus weapons that you can use to more easily clear levels. These weapons will be an absolute requirement to clear levels with a single shot starting with the second of the three galaxies that you visit in the game. Some levels will require incredibly precise timing (or a lot of luck), so be ready to retry some of the more difficult levels quite a few times. They're very satisfying once you beat them (plus, the explosions are cool...you did hear me mention the EXPLOSIONS, right? :D). There is witty, generally degrading dialogue from your ship commander preceding each level. The humor is dry and sarcastic, which is right up my alley, but some of the jokes may be lost on folks who don't do well with subtext or for whom English is a second or third language. That's not a criticism in any way (in fact, I applaud the authors for not feeling the need to blunt the humor...I always believe in asking the world to step up its competence rather than pandering to the lowest common denominator), just an observation. In the end, I really enjoyed my time with this game, and took the time to 100% the thing. It was just about the right length for what it is...plenty to do, but it didn't overstay its welcome. I'm giving it a solid thumbs-up at the full price, and a just-grab-it-right-now insta-purchase if it's significantly on sale or you find it in a bundle as I did.
Planet go boom 64/100
I would wait for it to go on sale, but it's a good way to kill a bit of time. Some of the levels are fairly hard puzzles, some of them are just satisfying to make go boom; either way, it's a good time.
I enjoyed what I played so far! Great Art & Music, I'd say it's an experimental Bomb Puzzle game
