About

Death Unphased is a challenging precision platformer where you phase through walls, spikes, and enemies with your dash. A short arcade-like experience with the goal of beating your fastest time in each level. Flex your puzzle-solving and speedrunning abilities as you forge the best path to the exit door.
Death doesn't scare you. It energizes you. Phase through anything that would normally kill you and gain an extra mid-air dash.
Experiment - there's always another solution, but it may not be obvious. Cut around the unphaseable acid spikes? Wall jump first for a good angle to chain together dashes? Reposition an enemy for an ideal route?
No hints. Just your brain, your controller, and the ability to phase dash. Will you rise to the challenge?

Phase dash - Walls and platforms can no longer stop you. Choose how to utilize your dash to make it to the end.
Dangerous speed - Phasing through an enemy or dangerous object grants you an extra mid-air dash. Chain together dashes to avoid death and blaze past barriers.
Tricky navigation - Disappearing dash platforms, hovering ghosts, directional push arrows, and more will lay between you and the exit. Observe, learn, and experiment. Think carefully how to maneuver through the levels.
Level timer - The timer saves the fastest time you've achieved on each level. There is no online leaderboard. The focus is on you to figure out the fastest route and improve on your best time!
Level ranks - Aim for the S, A, B, or C rank on a level based on completion time! Speedrunners can hunt for the S rank times or even the secret Z rank times.
Customization - Remappable controls (for controller and keyboard), screenshake disable, and shadow removal allow you to enjoy the experience your way.
Death Unphased
A true puzzle-platformer with fresh mechanics

Virtues

The game looks like a platformer —perhaps even an hardcore one—, but it is a puzzle game above all else. Finding the best route in each level is quite satisfying, and though thinking outside the box is made mandatory by the game mechanics, there are often multiple layers of cleverness.
Each level completion can be further refined by playing skillfully. Even if the levels are super short (a few seconds at most), most of them are extremely hard to complete perfectly. Getting the best possible total time is a good incentive.
Permissive controls. You can press the jump key slightly before touching the ground and the character will jump. You need to chain inputs sometimes very quickly, but you never need to double-press a key within an impossible time window.
Crisp graphics.
Clean interface.

Flaws

No boss fights, perhaps?… No, I’m being light-minded.

Bugs

I think there is a bug in level 49. Sometimes, the spikes kill you after you have dashed through them; sometimes, they don’t.
2023-11
This game has buttery smooth precision platforming. It's exactly as advertised, but keeps several mechanics hidden away as delightful surprises throughout The OST is bangin'. Stop reading this review and give it a go.
I realized I never left a review for this game, so here it is! This is one of those games that an avid speedrunner can truly enjoy, especially when you have nothing else to do at the moment. It's also perfect for players who love challenging puzzles ones that can push you to the brink of frustration but still feel rewarding. Is this a game for casual players? No. The phasing is tough, and you will fail multiple times. But I’ve spoken to the developer, and I know this game was made with passion and it’s well executed, too. 8/10. I recommend it, and I’ll keep coming back to this game whenever I feel lost in my usual games.
It’s great fun and very difficult!
Amazing arcade style game, very challenging but simple.
The game is challenging and the levels are wonderfully bite-sized. Your aptitude for route planning (strategy) and execution (mechanics) will surely be tested. Had no issues with mouse and keyboard, and changing keybinds was seamless.
Death literally. Recommend trying it out!
Really impressed by Death Unphased. On the surface, it's a fantastic puzzle-based precision platformer. But the puzzles are the game's own mechanics; puzzles are solves by working out how to exploit them and there's often multiple methods. And secret mechanics! Death Unphased is a superb precisison/puzzle platformer. It's all about cleverly abusing the mechanics on each level (also has "secret" mechanics!). It's tough but I really enjoyed it.
