From the tight controls to the intriguing flip mechanic to the bit-blasting soundtrack, Flip of Light has it all. A wonderful game from a wonderful developer! Not too long and not toooo hard, but there is plentiful bonus content that is tough as nails. All in all, Flip of Light is a wonderful game by a wonderful developer!
+Solid precision platformer +Standout music +Well-Designed puzzle-platforming that made me go "ohhhhhh" (FYI: Just finished the main 6 stages, haven't done the tinteds or the challenge modes) I found Flip of Light very rewarding! I like the Celeste-style format of having a platforming challenge on each screen, with a new checkpoint on every screen. I was constantly making progress, and getting that hardcore-platformer itch nice and fulfilled. I can't lie: some screens definitely made me go "how is that even possible!?", but the game is nice enough to ease you in, slowly introducing more and more interesting concepts. I never got stuck figuring out the "how" for longer than a minute or so. The execution on some screens, especially on the 5th and 6th stages, were BRUTAL. And they took me like 100 tries. I don't know if I'll beat the tinted versions of the stages, but it's nice to know there's even harder challenges out there. I'll definitely be trying them out. Also the music slaps. Play with headphones on ---> 🎧
Clever, fair little platformer with a really great soundtrack. The extra collectibles are super challenging and definitely warrant bragging rights once completed. Coming from someone who played through Celeste casually: First playthrough: 9 ish hours, 6071 deaths, 13/30 prisms Second playthrough: 3 hours, 500 deaths, 15/30 prisms (so far)
Flip of Light's main mechanics are simple, but the level design is expertly crafted around those mechanics to test both your platfoming execution and methods for how to approach each challenge. The more I played, especially in the tinted stages, the more I improved and figured out consistent strategies. Controls are tight and the game can be challenging but it never feels unfair. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a challenging 2D platformer.
Flip of Light is masterpiece and a super fun platformer. It blows my mind how the developer manages to squeeze so much content out of one move. The levels are designed in such creative ways, and it just keeps coming. Also can confirm the soundtrack does slap. I highly recommend playing.
(maingame only, I haven't done the tinted levels yet) The platforming in this game is really fun. Flipping + double jumps make for a solid set of movement options which the level objects really make shine. There were only one or two rooms where I was truly frustrated, and even those weren't too bad. The music is very solid too, which is always a plus. The visuals are straightforward and clear to read. The only negative thing I can say about them is that the character is close to vertically symmetrical, so it can be hard to tell at a glance which way you're flipped. The game also has a strong VVVVVV influence, which one of the section 6 prisms makes clear. If you enjoyed VVVVVV or other precise platformers, you'll probably like this game. I cleared the main levels with all 30 prisms in about 4 hours, and fully intend to do the tinted levels soon.
As someone who's 100% this game, it is super fun and incredibly worth its price. The gameplay is clean, the mechanics are fun, the music is great, and the artstyle is charming.
Harder than Celeste
Fun precision platformer with a good gimmick and interesting mechanics/level design based around it.
Haven't beat it yet, but I can tell this is already a great game, with very precise controls, and a good introduction of mechanics, no matter how hard it gets, nothing feels too far, or impossible with what has been taught to you
